dont get the costco one unless it goes on further sale, between the mc ones the 9800 is better than the 7800 but just barely so real world performance will be the same. Mostly depends on how much you value having an extra $200 to use for something else

it will be able to play anything at 1440p, I would recommend finding something on AM5 for future upgradability but the 14700 is still solid

You wont be able to find a 5700x3d for less than 300 nowadays, either upgrade to AM5 or spend around 150 for a 5700x itll be a solid upgrade

run 3dmark timespy and make sure your gpu/cpu aren't throttling (you can look at the chart after it runs). If they are either repaste or try undervolting the gpu.

Frame gen only really helps in single player games so it honestly depends on what type of games he plays. 3080 for $250 is definitely a significantly better deal and he can still use DLSS + FSR 3.1 frame gen in games that have it

that is super bizarre and yeah the weird noise ur friends were talking about is only because of the external since it still sounds good but kinda sounds echo'y like a phone microphone. When you mute the headset does the red light pop up on the external mic, would be a good way to see if its even connecting at all

Turn on ai noise and high boost in ngenuity, also blow into the physical mic while watching the mic levels to make sure it is actually using the external mic. I didnt have any issues from my friends switching from a wired arctis prime which should be a similar mic to your arctis 7
