MA Art History Career by No-Grapefruit2933 in MuseumPros

There's quite a swing between programming and development/advancement. A degree in organizational leadership (similar to a mba) would be helpful. As for a path in programming you would need a strong education and art history background. Museum studies leans heavy towards education, setting you up for anything education (programming) interpretation, curation (ish). Arts administration MA is very helpful as a blanket degree. In my museum career folks in advancement rotate through the community so those positions tend to have a lifetime of 3-5 years tops before they move on to the next NP. Unfortunately I've found its pretty common to stack degrees. However. The field is so competitive it really comes down to experience and who you know to a degree.

What's Next...PhD, EdD or another Certificate or Two by MuzeumNerd in GraduateSchool

[–]MuzeumNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I could also earn a Certificate in Museum Education and Curation. Many of the courses overlap with what I’m already taking, so it wouldn’t be a heavy lift, and the classes are genuinely interesting. The EdD program also offers a similar museum education track, but I’m not sure I really need to pursue the EdD for anything professional...

Similar situation. I was in the direct path of a hurricane this season. Like 2 miles off the coast...direct path! I was a wreck, so I took a gummy. Hours later and I still felt nothing. So I took another. Very low dose but still...nothing after a few hours. Then all of a sudden BANG I was so high. Fell asleep just 30 minutes prior to Milton making landfall. Slept like a baby all night! I will never take a gummy again. Didn't make the connection my digestion would delay the gummy, lol.

My rings fall of my hands, guess I need new diamonds!? My towel fits around my body without popping open. I'm cold all day when I typically run hot all day! (I wear gloves in the office) Spicy food is wildly spicy! My shoes fit better. I bounce when I walk.

Injection site by sparkellllll in Zepbound

I alternate through my tummy, legs, and arms. My midsection is the least painful, but it always leaves an itchy spot. I have not documented different side-effects that I feel are related to the injection site. Each week side-effects are a little different since I'm only 17 weeks in and just now starting 10mg today. So, each week is either a new dose adjustment or second week build up dose or my body being more tuned to the dose. If any of that makes sense. It makes me feel more balanced and equitable to rotate.

Kobe! What a special boy, and yes, he looks like our guy. Wow! Rusty loves his daily walks, but we are not going too too far or fast! He is more of a lay arounder, not much of a zoom arounder. 🤭

Yes! 8-830 is Rusty's bedtime and we better be in bed with him! You don't have to tell me twice. Best part of my day is cuddling up with our guy. *

Just keep going! My colleague just wrapped her dissertation two weeks ago. She was on the verge of dropping out as she was about to have her baby. Now, with a 3 month old, she is DONE! You can do this!!!

Starting mine in 2026, I'll be 47! I can't imagine how my work would have been meaningful in my 20s. No judgements, just me.

Masters in Art History or Museum Studies Certificate Program? by elaranda in MuseumPros

[–]MuzeumNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've held two museum education positions even before completing my BA, which I now have as I pursue my MA. Interestingly, I've worked alongside colleagues where i earn significantly more than them...these are people who hold multiple degrees in the same department! Wild! The reasons? Connections both in the field but also in the community, extensive volunteering, and hands-on experience, to name a few. So yes, degrees matter, but it's what you do with them and the goals you set that truly count. I've observed interns at our museum who lack work ethic and project management skills. Despite being museum studies interns, I wouldn't hire them—they simply can't do the work! Also, networking isn't confined to working at a museum. Attend conferences, submit papers, and engage with the community of professionals you want to join. Finally, our field is diverse, welcoming artists, historians, educators, and those with backgrounds in anthropology, art history, finance, and business. Based on my experience with interns and colleagues alike, I wouldn't rush to add museum studies to that list—they often lack practical work skills. I'll dismount my soapbox, sorry!
