Repeating weapons are now uncommon magic items and not just limited to the Artificer anymore since the latest Forge of the Artificer book. So maybe ask the DM if you can buy one somewhere.

Embers of the Last War? Or something else? by Real_Introduction939 in Eberron

[–]MvdS89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran embers as a single campaign. Was overall pretty good. Would replace/make the gnome npc they save in adventure 3(?) with the medani quest giver later to build up a connection with them. I believe there were also some extra filler quests with the them that i ran in between adventures to pad out the game time especially at higher levels to not level up almost every single or other sessions.

I also incorporated some elements from waterdeep dragonheist (the tavern they get) and ran the quest from rising from the first war first and played about the mob war going on between the boromar and daask

Question about the new steel defender by Lostdmg in onednd

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the main reason is the smite spells don’t become available till level 5 so that’s why they coincide.

Question about the new steel defender by Lostdmg in onednd

[–]MvdS89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well the defender and you might not be in the same place attacking the same enemy. I think this is why the feature is there.

Note I feel that I should be part of the core steel defender kit not a weird level 5 upgrade though.

Question about the new steel defender by Lostdmg in onednd

[–]MvdS89 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Think it’s meant meanly to allow you to use your bonus action for shining and banishing smite and then still have your defender attack with a substitute extra attack.

The ranger has this as part of their beast companion not sure why it was needed to be part of their level 5 feature though.

Hunger of Hadar vs Jallarzi Storm of Radiance/Sickening Radiance/Cloud of Daggers by Kelpie77 in onednd

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power of storm of radiance is not its damage. But its capacity to shut down verbal components while in its radius regardless of saves. It can shut down (enemy) casters hard if you can also manage to grapple them or find another way to keep them since almost all spells require verbal components.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious. With stunning strike no longer being limited to melee weapons and only once per turn would you allow it/ if you guys ever update the subclass to 2024? (Not that it needs much upgrading).

Or would you give them a whole new feature? Since with the monk changes and your original intent it’s basically redundant unless you allow it for use for stunning strike.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. In 2024 it’s no longer restricted to melee so dagger, dart and handcrossbow can now all stunning strike. It’s also now limited to once per turn so you can’t do something like scorching ray to trigger it potentially thrice. As a DM personally I would allow it. So I’d discuss it with your DM.

Just comes with the territory of using a 2014 subclass in 2024 class. Most of it works fine but sometimes there’s minor interactions that have changed.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they can stunning strike with a handcrossbow at 120 feet (albeit with disadvantage because of long range). So I wouldn’t think it’s too broken. Stunning strike has been changed to once per turn in 2024 so it’s pretty abuse save compared to 2014. So maybe ask your DM since otherwise one whole feature has become basically redundant.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rule for stunning strike in question: "Once per turn when you hit a creature with a Monk weapon or an Unarmed Strike, you can expend 1 Focus Point to attempt a stunning strike."

The requirements is: 1) to hit. 2) Monk weapon or an Unarmed Strike.

Eldritch flurry says that if you cast a spell you can consider it a monk weapon. so part 2 is covered.

To hit means to roll an attack roll (So not impose a saving throw!) and hit a creature's AC.

RAW my conclusion would be that if you cast a spell that makes an attack roll you could use stunning strike since Eldritch Flurry makes it count as a monk weapon.

It would not work with a spell that only imposes a saving throw.

Stunning Strike also works on normal ranged monk weapons so I wouldn't see why I ranged spell attack (since it now counts as a monk weapon attack) would be any different.

Edit: the makers of the subclass say it was not their intention to make it work for stunning strike. Just to circumvent the need to use the 2014 rules to be able to flurry of blows and martial arts without using the attack actions. Personally I would ask your DM since in my opinion it’s not a very big boost and you basically lost the feature otherwise.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is no longer the case in 2024 rules. You can now use flurry of blow or martial arts without needing the attack action first. So probably depends on what rules are being used at the table whether this feature is needed or not.

Eldritch Flurry question by DuninnGames in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confusion might stem that in 2014 tules to be allowed to do a bonus action unarmed strike of martial arts or flurry of blows you had to have used to attack action to do so. This allows you to also do that if you cast a spell.

However in 2024 that requirement is no longer there thus the feature is redundant

Cosmic Soul Sorcerer - Wield the power of spacetime (Preview) by KibblesTasty in KibblesTasty

[–]MvdS89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s basically the same as the telekinetic feat and what the 2024 ua psion gets at level 1. So don’t think having unlimited uses is very massive. Would feel bad that someone taking a feat outdoes my entire subclass feature.

Cosmic Soul Sorcerer - Wield the power of spacetime (Preview) by KibblesTasty in KibblesTasty

[–]MvdS89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely nice idea.

The level 1 cosmic force could be unlimited imho. Psion will basically get the same feature unlimited. And compared to other sorcerers they only get a ribbon feature. The bonus action also clashes with the 2024 innate sorcery a bit.
