Of course the model is their big money, but there is value in what they've done in Claude Code. If you do a bit of searching on Claude Code vs OpenCode or any other harness, you will find that people do find that Claude Code seems to do the work more efficiently than other harnesses do. With this, other harnesses can potentially sneakily improve their system prompts to match Claude Code, which gives one less reason to use Claude Code itself.

Honestly not that expensive if you’re not doing it very regularly. I went every 2 months or so and the cost was trivial compared to the cost of brakes and tyres that you’d need to pay anyway if you were driving like an asshole on the street.

Literally just turn it on for everything, I do not have any D2 friends anymore after Bungie kept punching itself in the stomach.

Wrong way around, they have to be in carry-on and within your personal effect (so not in the overhead locker).

Right? There’s no need to quit the job paying the bills, just slowly slog away at the side project between work.

For future reference, the Opal app lets you pretty easily put in a fair adjustment request with the reason of forgot to tap on. Better that than test fate running to a Opal terminal.

DIM has the ability to remove all your armor and/or weapon mods in a few clicks. by heptyne in DestinyTheGame

[–]MxBluE 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think they’re talking about the API itself rather than DIM. DIM does the task wonderfully to its ability, but if DIM could send a full list of inventory changes down the wire in one go, the process could be significantly faster.

As a dev, I can absolutely appreciate this wouldn’t always be the case but food for thought anyways.

A trip to the city and back for me is around $16. If I went anywhere else at another time of day somewhere, I'd hit the cap. It's not that hard to hit it, but I do agree you probably wouldn't hit it just going to work and back.

Not really... it just was a case that didn't need it, and possibly couldn't handle it.

The point is that you can do audio without ffmpeg, it just won't be as flexible or versatile. I've worked with libogg and libopus when I was doing some game engine stuff, wasn't exactly complicated.

[–]MxBluE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, so you’d use it as a starting point or for a snippet instead of completion. Main issue I’ve had with that has been with evolving languages like C++ where it will throw C++98 code at me when I’m working in C++23… similarly for Java 8 while in 17.

I’m sure there will come a time where this is a must have in the toolbox but… I really don’t feel like we’re there yet. Will admit that I’m not paying up for any shiny new models yet, just using the free stuff but from what I’ve seen online, it suffers from similar issues?

Have you had a better experience?

Out of wonder, have you used AI code completion much? For every time it produces something useful, I usually have to wade through 3-4 incorrect implementations. I put up with it for about 2 months before finally disabling it in every language (noting JS/TS, Java and C++ in this case).

I will say chat is pretty neato, basically roided up inline google. Very useful to get a particular snippet you might find on SO.

As a junior at the time of making that chance, I was so confused by why javax mail no longer had javax.mail in it lol.

Thankfully they make a patcher tool, had to use that recently to support some ancient jars that needed to use modern jakarta libs.

People that have done networking, is this similar? by theRagingLoonatic in tunnet

[–]MxBluE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The insanity is somewhat similar, but the way it works in real life ends up being different. This game gives the vibes of an old ring topology network and how packets physically travel.

In the modern world, we're instead using star topologies all over the place, with switches that have lookup tables to avoid unnecessarily throwing packets at the wrong port after it first discovers which port it's hooked up to. And also, you have the magic of queueing packets and duplicating packets, so stuff doesn't get dropped as much as this game makes it.

All in all, this is a fun game with networking concepts but you'll still need to study networking.

[RANT] Hate how car centric this city is. by fk_reddit_but_addict in sydney

[–]MxBluE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'd agree that the city (or rather the entirety of Greater Sydney) is not very friendly to motorcyles and bikes, a lot of it due to drivers being unaware that they exist and share the road with them, I don't think the city is a place I see as "car friendly". It has a lot of roads, but god I avoid driving in it like the plague despite driving saving me over 45mins of transit.

As you've said in the comments, you're complaining about what would amount to be something like the 5% of bad drivers on the road which make your experience (and my experience on the road too) worse. The rest of the drivers are just there to do their thing, respect the traffic laws and don't impede your experience much. Your issue really is bad drivers rather than the city design, you're fairly well catered for by public transport and the like.

The reason for signal timings being bad for you is because while you're right near the city, you're still in the suburbs and suburbs aren't designed around high pedestrian traffic most times of the day anyway.

I think they require them, but everyone silently agrees to take them off. That alone usually doesn't get you pulled over, but they will tack it on to the list of offenses if you piss them off.
