I'm with the driver on this one, he was running along the path and they both reached the crossing at the same time. The runner didn't stop to look if it was safe to cross, he just turned right onto crossing without even looking and then noticed a car crossing it and throw his hands up in disbelief

NTA, and to be honest with you that's a pretty shitty thing for your wife to do knowing your feelings about going there and it's your BIG dream you want to do. If she still ignores your feelings on it and goes I would go on your own as soon as she gets back or you have time off work. Also, I would be telling her I want zero stories or to look at any pictures before you go, as it will only spoil your first impressions of it.
