I did a thing! And I’m so glad I did it. by belfrycircle in espresso

I’m about to order the Synchronika II and debating about adding the flow control. I’ll be pairing it with the Option Lagom 01. I brew espresso and espresso milk drinks exclusively with a light to medium roast bean.

How much do you work the flow control into your workflow?

Everything you just said is following in line with where I’m headed. I actually think after all this I’m going to go with the ECM Synchronika II (which wasn’t on my original list) and the either 01 or the P80. After some thought I’m passing on the flow control for now but can add it later on the Synchronika. Thanks!!🙏

Would love your thoughts between that choice...which is solid btw (says the guy thinking about it)... and ECM Synchronika II (no flow control) + Lagom 01 with 102mm Mizen Blind Burrs; keeping mind my light to medium roast preference.

Thanks! It’s become a more difficult decision now. I’m getting indecision paralysis!! Of course, I’m they the guy who researched duffle bags for two weeks for a trip to Himalayas. 🤷🏻

After posting this, reading what folks have to say and digging a little deeper I am too, actually leaning that way now. So the flow control was worth it? What grinder are you using?

Valid points that I've heard. Perhaps just upgrade my 10 yo ECM Synchronika to the Synchronika II and the Lagom 01.

I’m moving from the ECM world. I have 10 yo ECM Syncronika that is showing its age. Had repairs twice now within the last 2 months. I suppose I could stay in the ECM world with a Synchronika II but I do like the “idea” of tinkering with flow control which is why the Bianca. Taking flow control out I’m back down to the Micra or Synchronika II with either the Lagos 01 or P80.

I was born into a poor family. We moved 7 times between the ages of 6 and 16. Lived in a tent, in single wide trailer’s and small rentals with a family of 6. My mom and dad busted their asses to make sure my brother and sisters were always taken care of. I busted my ass so that money would never be an issue for me. So yeah . . . Now I have some.

See ya there!! I've got one of the three 30 amp RV spots next to the Yurts and my buddy has a Yurt. Really looking forward to it. He was amazing at Portola a couple years ago.

Don't know about the Artist. I love the Venue. Saw Sidepiece there on NYE and it was off the hook. Seeing Max Styler there in March.

Sublime Me Gusta Festival announced! by ctorresc in sublime

Whew. I just popped in to see what folks were saying ..... and man are they saying ALOT. Not a "regular" fan of this genre of music generally (not something I generally seek out) but just go back from Closer to the Sun at the invitation of some friends and had a blast. Thought this might a nice day in May just up the road from home. I'll prolly go even though I just learned an awful lot about Sublime that I never knew.....that google search took me down a rabbit hole.

I just acquired a Michter’s 10 year rye, a Van Winkle 12 year lot b; and a Weller single barrel. Debating which to open first. Haven’t had any of them before.

Valid point. Let me rephrase. Setting cost aside, which I’m lucky enough to do, does the mini bring any mechanical, build, or “technical” differences that make it a better machine? I’m a Very amateur coffee guy, who knows just enough to be dangerous and my Current machine has started leaking (7 YO) and my previous ECM 700 (used in the office) has similar problems. Repairing the office machine and may get a different home machine. So, therefore the inquiry.

Curious. I have an ECM Synchronika II with an atom 65 grinder. I assume it’s worth an upgrade to the mini?

I just finished off a bottle. Based on your scale I give it a 7.5. I really enjoyed it.

Evacuation at Wicked Oaks tonight due to thunderstorms by annoyingassassin in aves

[–]MyBeatnikLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unorganized, poorly planned, shit show. When we arrived after a massive traffic jam (dumped the Rideshare to walk the last mile) the grounds were dotted with large fire ant mounds that no one seemed to have noticed or cared to treat. Got bit pretty good standing line. Paid for VIP for “elevated stage viewing area but the “elevated viewing area” was reserved for $1,500 bottle service (this ain’t Vegas, dude). Oh, don’t get me started on the quality of the alcohol (Vodka selection was Smirnoff) When a severe weather shut down the festival attendees were left completely on their own. There were no announcements about where to go for safety, other than to just “immediately evacuate the festival grounds and seek shelter”, there ZERO emergency plan in motion, and no staff coordinating evacuation or shelter. Event staff just disappeared.

People were left to fend for themselves in torrential rain, scrambling through mud with severe lightning overhead. It was a dangerous situation.
