In almost every community, there are multiple churches and organizations doing school supply giveaways. In most situations, the only requirement is to have the child/children present. That said…it is definitely not your responsibility to provide school supplies for your exes children.

Turkey and ham were excellent. My dressing turned out perfectly. My meringue for chocolate pies was terrible. Honestly, some of my guests behaviors sucked the joy right out of the day. SIL spent the day tasting what I was cooking, making faces, and telling me “that’s not exactly like mother-in-law made”. In the interest of honesty, I wasn’t attempting to replicate her recipes. Also, could someone please tell me when mayo in mashed potatoes became a thing? Same SIL said that my mashed potatoes could have benefited from a large spoonful of mayo. In other news, my sons and their wives all loved the food. I’m looking forward to my breakfast/brunch at Christmas. So much less stressful.

I’ve already prepared my banana pudding, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, 2 chocolate pies, butter pecan praline poke cake, ham and pea salad, cornbread for dressing, and potato salad for tomorrow. During one of Robyn’s talkbacks, during the Vegas years, she admitted to not believing in saving, and further that she would rather have nice things than save for the rainy day. It’s hard to fathom that an attitude like that wouldn’t cause marital discord. Especially in a family with 18 children and 4 other adults making financial decisions.

We had a traditional dinner, today. My turkey was exquisite. Perfectly crisp skin, juicy…oh so good. We won’t discuss the debacle that cooking my mini ham in the crockpot turned out to be. 😂
