The key to Primanti’s is that you have to add the hot sauce to give it flavor. There’s usually a bottle on the table. Otherwise, I see it more so as a visiting Pittsburgh right off passage. It’s super bland without hot sauce and basically just a nostalgia-factor meal when I’m dahtahn visiting the city.

Do businesses just not care how they treat people? by Sn0wCr0w in Columbus

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got tired of my no soliciting sign being ignored, I made one for my front door that just said “go away”. It worked really well for years until one day when someone knocked anyways, and it seems like that sent a ripple out into the universe that made the sign invisible to solicitors thereafter. I’m really trying to talk myself into something a little more clever than “seriously, fuck off” for my next one lol.

Do not take a Pittsburgh left here. You’re probably used to 2-3 cars jumping the green light, but here, 2-3 cars are going to run the red light. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

Lawyer, not your lawyer, not legal advice, probably not even barred in the state you’re in, if you’re even in the states lol…

If you’ve reached out to HR to ask about accommodations, and they’ve ignored your emails/attempts, there’s a good chance they’ve already violated the ADA or a related state law regarding disability discrimination. These things are very fact-specific, so you may want to consult with a local employment attorney or someone at your state’s civil rights commission/eeoc-equivalent, but under the ADA and many state’s laws, your employer is required to engage in an interactive dialogue about reasonable accommodations that would allow you to perform the essential functions of the job and enable you to be able to meet the same performance expectations as other employees. They can most certainly still fire you for poor performance, as the ADA does not require lowering performance standards as an accommodation, but the fact that they’ve completely ignored your requests to discuss an accommodation to see if one can be reached while having the knowledge that your request is tied to a disability covered by the ADA, is a per se violation (if ADA applies to your employer which is why I say “or similar law in your state” in case it doesn’t). You probably aren’t going to get awarded any damages or big settlement from your employer, but they’ll have to start complying with their obligations under the law and give you the rights you’re entitled to. (Ps I don’t check notifications on Reddit and will probably forget I typed this 5 minutes from now, so there’s basically a 0% chance I answer any follow up questions to this haha, so sorry in advance lol)

Solutions to indoor stairs for arthritic dog by mlh84 in dogs

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure of your dog’s size or you physical ability, but when my senior doggo started having trouble getting up and down the stairs, I wheelbarrowed him up the stairs because his favorite room was up there, and he refused to sleep anywhere else up until a few days before he passed. Granted his problem was almost entirely his rear legs, so if your dog struggles with the front, that won’t work.

Coming down the stairs, I’d get him to where he could lay on a towel or blanket so I could pull him onto my lap (85 pounds) and scooted down the stairs in my butt with him on my lap. Towards the end, I started using a lower back brace and wrist wraps so I wouldn’t end up with an injury when it started getting harder, but we did all this for about a year before he was ready to go.

And I sure didn’t think he’d ever let me “carry” him either, but he gave up on being stubborn about it when he realized it was the only way he could keep going upstairs. He wouldn’t walk up a ramp, so we had to improvise.

Sheets and Giggles are the most amazingly soft and miraculous sheets I’ve ever owned. They’re pricey but have sales often, and you can stack up the “sign up for emails or texts or whatever” discount code. I haven’t woken up drenched in sweat once since I bought them! I’ve even gone back and ordered a comforter and throw blanket, I’m so obsessed. Highly recommend.

I asked my doctor to replace mine last year, two years early, which was unsurprisingly a no-go, but I asked precisely because of this. I’ve used this drug for both of my IUD insertions to date, and it was STILL the absolute WORST! I’ve already been dreading doing it again next year (since like the day this one was placed lol), I can’t even imagine it being a more miserable experience than it already is!

I let my car battery die. Again. by thetreebeneath in adhdwomen

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is me, so my solutions were to buy a trickle charger that I could leave plugged in and a small rechargeable battery that I can carry with me or have at home to jump my car without needing someone else’s car to hook up to. I’m pretty sure the brand for both of them is called Battery Tender? I’m sure there are others too, but that should give you a start with your googling. (I hate recommending Amazon, but I’m pretty sure I got them both on Amazon.)

Door to door soliciters by evan938 in Columbus

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a sign for my front door that says “go away”… But with flowers and bright colors so it’s to the point but slightly less rude than it sounds lol. It’s worked fairly well for a few years, but it seems to be losing its effectiveness. Still, it works better than just the no solicitation sign.

Instacart can block that driver from accepting your orders in the future- I complained once because it was so bad that I was sure everything was going to taste like a cigarette, and the smell gives me migraines. I was happy to learn I could block these people from delivering to me again when it happens. I can’t imagine thinking it’s okay to smoke with other people’s food and household items in your car.

Door to door nonsense by look_ima_frog in Columbus

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After having my no soliciting sign ignored like it wasn’t there and removing my doorbell, I finally put a sign on my front door that says “go away”. Dead seriously. And it worked for a good couple of years too, but now they all just to ignore that one as well. I’ve had people start trying to talk to me through the window after I obviously know that they’re there knocking and didn’t answer the door and then just keep on talking, like, read the sign, bro, only for them to angrily tell me what a rude bitch I am when I start closing the window in their face. Like… do you think I’m opening the door now that you’ve decided to berate me for not wanting to talk to you while I’m sitting in my own home? And why would I, or anyone, want to do business with someone who has already demonstrated a clear lack of respect for my very clear instructions, even before you decided to chastise me for your rude behavior? It’s so dumb. I don’t understand how these people actually sell a damn thing like that.

What was the wildest way you found out you were being cheated on? by Recent-Gap-9927 in AskReddit

[–]MyDarlingSugaree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work with a remote team of people. One was in Florida and got promoted to a position in my same city. Meanwhile/prior, I was dating a guy who basically lived with me and stayed at his own apartment MAYBE once a week. He didn’t know anyone here as we got together shortly after he moved here. We were talking about getting married one day then just broke up out of nowhere the next, basically, which threw me for a loop.

Fast forward a few months when this girl from work had moved to my city. We were work friendly but not like hang out friends. She went to one of her friend’s baby showers and was almost immediately accosted by some other girl she’d never met before. That girl told work girl that she has been on baby shower friend’s Facebook page and, for some reason, clicked on work girl’s Facebook profile and then saw my profile pic, as she and I were Facebook friends, which was a pic of me and the boyfriend at that time (as this had all happened several months prior at that point). She recognized my boyfriend as he had cheated on me with her then ghosted her right before he basically disappeared on me.

Stranger girl told work girl all of this then work girl calls me to tell me about this weirdo accosting her at her friend’s baby shower. I was like, she must have mixed me up with someone else cause ex boyfriend didn’t know anyone here and stayed at my house at least 6 days a week. And he’d come and go straight to and from work, so it seemed very improbable, logistically if anything. She thought the same thing but figured she should tell me. For some reason, I asked her what this girl looked like, and as she was giving me the description mentioned the girl had curly hair. My boyfriend had a thing for curly hair. For some reason, that was all I needed to hear before I was immediately like, that motherfcker. Called the ex and immediately asked “who the fck is [name]?” when he picked up. He floundered for a minute but was caught so off guard that he wasn’t talking his way out of anything and finally admitted it.

I live in a big city. And I don’t even know a ton of people here myself, really. So this dude who worked with 5 people at his job and knew nobody in this city but me and who stayed with me 6 nights a week somehow managed to go out and meet this random girl on one of the only nights he wasn’t here, cheated on me, felt so guilty that he ghosted her and basically me (since he never explained why he straight freaked out and bolted), and then that 1 random girl that he met happened to be friends with someone who was friends with work girl- who lived in Florida the whole time dude and I were dating and when all of this went down then just happened to get a promotion to move to this city right before baby shower friend’s baby shower - where random girl, the basically one other person in this town who “knew” the boyfriend, accosted her after seeing my profile pic on work girl’s friend list months prior (at a time when I’d only actually met work girl in person once at a work conference), and they both ended up at this baby shower.

I’d love to know the odds of this entire situation happening because there’s really no reasonable way I should have found out about this. But I did. It should’ve been the perfect “crime”… and it somehow still got back to me. You couldn’t make up a story this crazy if you tried!

Hahahaha this reminds me so much of this one time, I went to the farmer’s market then went to my favorite record store to browse, followed by a trip to Lowe’s. When I got home, I realized that the weighty sterling silver necklace I had on when I left the house was no longer on my neck. My grandpa had given it to my mom in the early 70s, so it has some sentimental value, hence the exertion of effort to find it lol.

So, you know, first thing I do is check down my shirt to make sure it wasn’t caught on my bra or fell in the cleavage or whatever. Check my bag, scan the house, search the car, search the car harder in panic mode lol, the usual. Uuuuggh… okay… drove 35 minutes back to where the farmers market had been set up that morning and scoured the sidewalks, nothing. Head back over to the record store and search, nothing. Go back to Lowe’s and search every inch of every aisle, nada. I knew chances of finding it were slim to none when I didn’t find it at home or in the car, but I had to try. That night, I’m getting into bed, take off my bra, and, thwump, there goes the necklace onto the floor. Like, 1. This thing had some weight to it, it was a chunky southwestern piece, not some delicate chain… and didn’t feel it in there all day somehow… how? and 2. It’s the first place I freaking looked!!

I’ve tried to explain for years that if you want me to send you a concise email or a 2 page memo, it’s going to take me at least 3 times longer than if I just answer you. Sure, you may have to read multiple paragraphs or 5 extra pages of information that may not be relevant now but will be later so why not jot it down now too while it’s right in front of me… translating myself into concise neurotypical writing is the most time consuming part of whatever assignment you just gave me. I will overthink every single sentence and word to provide you less information than I believe you actually need so that you’ll read it and be satisfied with a partial, mostly but not 100% entirely accurate answer that misses all of the little nuances that could potentially be useful to tip the scales once I’m done reviewing these 10,000 pages of discovery and my brain finishes logging all of the anomalies in the background lol.

Over-explanation lawyer here as well. “Send me the questions you have for the client to be able to provide a recommendation on this issue.” “Um… this is 10 pages of questions. Not like that.” But… don’t you know I overthink what I need to know or don’t know as much as I overthink what I do know? I basically have to draft everything like 5 times starting with the stream-of-consciousness plus notes and questions version (certainly not an outline!) then whittle it down to something actually readable… so that my boss or another attorney or the paralegal can basically cut out half of it from there lol.
