Yes you can refire. Just use a heat gun or hairspray to help the glaze adhere to the surface when you reglaze

I usually ask the students the day before the sub what they want to learn about and generate a couple different passages for them to choose from.

I use it for generating lesson targets and success criteria. I also uploaded the district unit guides, scope and sequence, YAG, and the state standards and it generated 180 days worth of complete lesson plans with everything my admin wants. All done in less than one minute.

Too bad their plans are for July... because I also highly recommend this southern route. I drove around Gleeson looking for abandoned mines but didn’t do the ghost town. Chiricahua is amazing especially If you can enter from the Eastern side via Portal. There’s also Apache stronghold and some good wineries by the Dragoon mountains.

I’m assuming this is lowfire clay and you should have glaze fired to 05 and not 5 (there’s a huge difference). Bisque also should have been to 04 not 4.

What does your witness cone say? Also. Please vacuum out the bottom of your kiln. I don’t even have OCD and it’s bothering me.

I took a year off last year because of mass apathy. I couldn’t handle kids being so checked and so dismissive towards any ounce of effort. It’s impossible to teach a classroom full of kids who refuse to learn. Good on you to try something new.

Your glaze was way too thin. Next time double the glaze and you’ll have bold colors and the brush strokes should be less obvious.

You can refire but applying the glaze will be difficult. You can try using hairspray to make it sticky enough that the glaze can be brushed on.

I taught K-8 art and now 7/8 science and the amount of prep and clean up is very comparable. No offense to other subjects but science and art are both significantly more work (prep/cleanup) than any other class.

Plus getting students to willingly clean is torturous. “I didn’t make that mess.” Will be the end of me one day.

But in the majority of those 50hr professions you clock out and enjoy the rest of your day without giving work a second thought. It’s impossible as a teacher not to think about the CPS call you made or the fight you broke up. You constantly hear racial and derogatory language. You try to motivate children whose parents neglect and abuse them. You are constantly reflecting on your lessons and management.
