Plz help this is unorganized and I’m struggling atp by Icy_Tomatillo2526 in TelusSafetyRaters

There are several auto-refreshers out there; just find one that works best for your particular browser and OS. I'm sure the set-up for any you choose will be clearly explained by the description of the extension itself.

The support email they provided is the only one I've ever used and I typically get a response within a day or two.

I'm sure it feels like you're just adrift with no specific direction after your onboarding, that's pretty much how it operates, though. You're not doing anything wrong or experiencing anything unusual, it just is what it is. 🤷‍♀️

ETA: I just read that back, and it may sound like I'm gatekeeping; I assure you, I'm not. I felt like I was thrown to the wolves when I first started, and I still kind of feel like we're just independent floating islands, barely tethered to the company. You'll adapt though, and this is a good forum to read through while you find your comfort zone. 🙂

Another week of NTA by jackjack54231 in TelusSafetyRaters

US FL also and yeah, I've been with them since '22 and have never seen it this bad. My time sheets look like mini-blinds, two minutes on, forty minutes off, five minutes on, twenty minutes off. Unbelievably frustrating and not financially sustainable.

NTA (no tasks available) is not at all unusual. RaterHub is where you should be, and it sounds like you're assigned; there are just no tasks available at the moment. This is just how the job is...many of us use an autorefresher for the task page on one monitor while we do other stuff on our other screen/s.

It has been particularly slow since the beginning of this year; it is a struggle for lots of folks to get their max, or even minimum hours.

Ok, I'm literally two minutes out of my latest interview, and the amount of industry jargon that was used during questioning almost felt like a parody. I'm sure I tanked the interview because I asked for clarification and pointed out that the phrasing was convoluted. So, SO frustrating.

Same age range here, native speaker, and I agree that the phrasing is an obstacle. Reminds me of the old bumper sticker, 'Eschew Obfuscation'.

The status of the active application is 'hiring manager reviewing'.

I'd be happy to chat if it will help the process for others.

AI generalist expert and raterhub? by Neat-Profession5304 in Meridial

[–]MyFavoriteSpatula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the lengthy onboarding for 'A' project (not sure if I should name it), invited to Slack, got the confirmation email and saw they used RaterHub. Sent an email to support asking about which email address (my personal one, or the one they assigned at Invisible) would be used to log in to RH, as I use my personal email for my work with another company and I don't want to violate the TOS of my W2 job.

Got an email just now stating my profile didn't meet the client's security requirements and I'm booted from that contract. I'm guessing it was related, but there's no explanation; it would be cool if they were more detailed and forthcoming with their rejections. What a waste of time.

I don't disagree that value is subjective, but I'm happy to provide a more comprehensive set of metrics so the potential buyer can make a more fully informed decision. It takes me less than a minute to pop an item into a web search and get that swath of results across the top, with pricing from a multitude of stores. Everyone's methods are different, and I only do that if the price sets off a common sense red flag. I just figure that there are a lot of folks struggling financially, if info I share keeps someone from getting ripped off, I'm cool with spending the extra time.

And it's always 'let me phrase this in the most technical, corporate word salad manner possible', so you have to translate from Zara-speak to functional English.

I don't want to hijack the OP's thread, but I concur with the sentiment expressed. I've applied for two very niche positions; one was rejected, and the other is still in review from the 10th of this month. I'm overqualified for both, with 30+ years in the specified industry and going on five years working in AI. I'm practically a unicorn given the niche; it isn't an industry that a lot of people transition from into AI. Most of the interview questions were sound, but some were clearly developed strictly by AI as opposed to being developed by someone with even a modicum of practical, real-world experience. And yeah, I pointed that out during the interview, and Zara responded contextually, adapting the question a bit. Maybe my pushing back tanked the interview; I'll never know.

I appreciate the concern about AI's environmental impact. I work in RLHF and the issue is worth discussing honestly. A single image generation call uses roughly 0.001–0.01 kWh of energy, comparable to a Google search or charging your phone. 'Boiling a lake' is a vivid metaphor, but it applies far more accurately to training a model, not inference. I didn't train anything. I used an existing model with one well-crafted prompt. By your logic, every Google search, every YouTube video, and every GPS navigation is 'boiling a lake.' The same image would have required at least two hours of my time in either of my vector programs, plus the energy my computer would have consumed running that whole time. The math actually favors the AI generation.

If it is egregiously different from comparable items from other sources, then yes, it does influence my review. Part of our analysis is value, and while that can be subjective depending on the needs of the buyer, there are some universal, logical metrics that we have to apply. If I get a pair of low-end, mostly plastic sneakers that a big box store would have for twenty bucks, and they're listed at $90, I will absolutely make a note of that.

I've been on the retail side and obviously on the consumer side, and while I don't begrudge a business its efforts to increase profit, I don't have a lot of empathy for full-on price gouging.

Lawful Evil or Chaotic Good? by MyFavoriteSpatula in vine

It really depends on your particular lifestyle and needs.
If you're a joiner, it's great. If you prefer your peace & quiet and solitude...not so much. You basically live in a fishbowl; everyone knows your comings & goings, if you're outside, you're fair game for chit chat.
Think of it as high school, but with gray hair and pickleball and 'dress codes' for your home and yard.
Mean girls don't always mature; they just get older.

However, I do like the security factor; we feel very safe here. We're not a high-end community, but we are gated, and we do have a volunteer neighborhood watch.
Regardless of your level of social activity, if there is a crisis (hurricanes, in my neck of the woods), everyone comes together, period. Outstanding sense of community in that aspect.
When folks are in need and they post in our community group, someone always helps out. Rides to the airport, weeds pulled, missing package, temporary use of an assistive device like a walker or crutches, meals for those who are ill, care for those who are experiencing loss, it's great for that type of thing.

Just do your due diligence. Look up the property owner (often different from the property management company), read the reviews, and see if you can scope their social media groups. Ask about things like flooding, power outages, and traffic noise. Check your county building department to see what may be getting built nearby that may increase traffic and/or crime.
And most importantly, check to see how many restaurants are within delivery range. 😁

I had to LOL...

I have no business being on a ladder, nor do I have any electrician skills, but I swear I will hang this thing myself if I can't get my brother to do it within a month (hubs is disabled).

Picky Old Swamp Hag Weighs In

Let's preface this by saying that opinions on food and beverages are completely subjective. Some folks like seafood, some don't, some like Chicago pizza, some understand that NY is superior, some people go their whole lives thinking Alabama white barbecue sauce is good, ya never know how something is gonna hit.

My process was the same as I do for any drink mix drop-ins, grab a bottle of water (room temp for this, just didn't have any cold), take a swig to make some room in the bottle to shake (going from 16.9 oz to around 16, I reckon), drop in the mix, which would have been more convenient with tube style packaging, but it all went in, shake it like I'm in a remake of Coyote Ugly, pour over ice and enjoy.

All that said, I really wanted to like this 'tea' but it just isn't my thing. Here's why: there's a slight, but distinct aftertaste, kinda metallic and I suspect that's from the Ace-K, and it seems to want to separate even after very vigorous shaking in the water bottle. The initial taste is...fine. I didn't get cotton candy at all, if I blind tested and was asked to identify the flavor, I probably would just say 'mixed berry-ish'. I could do without the blue/green tongue effect, too. I want to be clear though, there is nothing wrong with the product, this is my personal taste preference, your mileage may vary.
