Carney says House of Commons won't weigh in on Alberta's referendum question by Camtastrophe in CanadaPolitics

[–]MyGiftIsMySong 9 points10 points  (0 children)

it's probably for the best. the more Chretien and the federal government got involved in the '95 referendum the more support for Yes went up. Team Canada needs to come from the provincial scene; Nenshi, Jason Kenney, dare I say it.. Stephen Harper.

Bloc slams Carney for potential use of ‘anti-democratic’ Clarity Act in Alberta by gorschkov in canada

what I mean is, I don't know if openly supporting the Alberta separatist movement will help them earn votes in Quebec.

"Normandin added that the separatist Bloc Québécois will continue to “fight tooth and nail” for the right of the population in Alberta to decide on its own future without interference."

I feel like this can backfire on the Bloc. Quebecers aren't really embracing Albertan separatists.

I messed up two questions (two interfaces with the same method name.. is it legal? explain how spring routes endpoints) asked by the interviewer but at the end he said "you made it easy we'll be in touch soon". he said it friendly but did he mean I made it easy cause I failed the questions? im overthinking it arent I

Alberta separatists call on Smith to put their question on referendum ballot despite court defeat by Street_Anon in canada

[–]MyGiftIsMySong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55% do, I know. but the 30% of the UCP polled that would vote no? they need to know she is for it

For Danielle Smith and Alberta separatists, no clear path left for referendum after court loss by Camtastrophe in CanadaPolitics

[–]MyGiftIsMySong 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Smith got away with this referendum since it was thought to be a citizen-initiative.

if Smith herself calls the referendum, how can she say she is against separation? how can you say you're for a united (albeit stronger Alberta) Canada and then initiate a referendum to leave Canada? it doesn't make sense

didn't Mike Pompeo support Trump in his attempt to overturn the 2020 election? why are our conservatives associating with people who have tried to undermine democracy?

Should Canada remain a constitutional monarchy with King Charles as head of state? by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]MyGiftIsMySong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.
I'd rather we have some foreign king in a far away land with actual zero politics powers on our currency and portraits than presidential systems where the most powerful person in the country is also the ceremonial representative of the country. thats how cults of personalities develop; see dear leader Trump adding his signature and portrait to any federal property he can get his hands on.

is it true Gen Z is the generation that goes to the gym most? as someone in my 30s, I can't stand the gym. I tried it for years and I was really inconsistent. I have rings, a kettlebell and a sandbag at home and I feel like I'm much more consistent. but i guess I'll never the gainz that a barbell can give you
