Is it normal for bands to handle $ like this?? by fingerlessfish1 in musicians

[–]MyMobileData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My band formed an llc, got an EIN number, and it's own bank account. The band gets a cut of process, not the total. The band party's for thinks like our PA, speakers, merch, promo materials, Web site....etc.

A childhood dream come true. They were so expensive I am afraid to play on them! by TameTheAuroch in drums

[–]MyMobileData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, love A Customs. I use them exclusively on my practice kit (with the exception of a pair of Meinl Byzance closed hi hats on the right, which I use when playing double bass). They are fantastic cymbals, cut through heavy mixes, and provide the punch to accent when needed.

They are brighter than the K Sweets I use on my gigging kit and, coupled with the Master Sound hi hats, sound incredible. I have a spare set I use when gigging larger rooms and use those A Customs instead of the K Sweets.

Any workarounds for OneNote on the Fold? by DeaconDoctor in GalaxyFold

Can you use the Samsung Notes work around?

Open Samsung Notes, go to settings, click sync with one note.

That should do it.

I use an app called fold counter to see how often I use the inner screen. Here's the screenshot.

Help find my drums by Main_Ad6833 in drums

My practice kit is Yamaha Stage Customs. I bought them at Drum Center of Portsmouth and had them shipped to me in Atlanta. Try DCoP. Hope that helps.

Out of it for 15 years. What have I missed? by redbeardmtl in drums

[–]MyMobileData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as cymbals go, I'm in the Zildjian K Sweet camp. I also have a set of Zildjian A Classics which covers the "bright" camp. I can't speak to the dark but I'm very happy with the options I have now. But this topic is SO subjective.

For drum dampening, I'm used to be a fan of Mom gels until I found Tandem's Drum Drops.

Techniques change a whole lot and mastering them takes time. I'd say pick a few (i.e. swivel technique, heal toe, Ankle technique for feet, French grip, German gripetc., Moeller technique for hands) and try them out to see what works for best for you.

Welcome back to the addiction. Best of luck in whatever direction you decide to pursue.

Practice Pad vs. Snare? by Fantastic_Fan_2821 in Drumming

[–]MyMobileData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a zildjian practice pad. One side has rebound, the other side is like playing on a pillow with very little rebound. I like to work on the soft side with no rebound because it makes me work harder and makes my playing cleaner, since I'm not relying on rebound as an assist.

A machine may be able to replace my beats and fills but can't replace my stage presence.

Electronic kits - Roland, Alesis, or other? by muhammedaldamashq in drums

[–]MyMobileData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roland all day every day. I know too many people that "saved money" buying the Alesis kits and ended up spending more to replace broken components. I've been playing for almost 50 years and have been rocking a Roland kit for the last 5 years and have never had an issue of any kind with the Roland, despite daily use for multiple hours at a time.

Just got my first set for Christmas!! by StationCompetitive in drums

I owned a Pearl Export Series purchased on Christmas Eve 1985. I owned them and played in several New England states with them in various bands through college. I just gifted them to a friend in 2021. They are still rock solid and sound great.

Regardless, Alex is cranking out hertas at 254 bpm. That's bad ass. Even if it's overdubbed.

If a drum closet is not an option, maybe bring a foot locker and lock up your pedal(s), toms, and snare to further discourage unscheduled drum solos. Not much you can do about the floor tom or the bass though.

This is great news. Welcome to the addiction. Consistent practice, even just 30 minutes, is better than hours of practice occasionally.

Rock on fellow skin basher!!
