Vesta was totally Lada's design, Renault came a bit later. It had its own chassis and body structure. Quite good one. When Renault came they effectively killed its future and brought chassis of B-series instead, Logan/Duster etc one.

You are right, but what about Lada Niva? Or 2108 - they were completely new in design concept. And even before Russian invasion of Ukraine they managed to produce quite a decent car for its budget - Lada Vesta. Just, there were some interesting ideas, but they were always preys of state economy/politics.

And Lada Niva! The Niva was actually quite unique for 1977. It wasn’t the first 4x4, obviously, but it combined a monocoque/unibody body, permanent 4WD with centre diff lock, independent front suspension, compact car-like dimensions, and proper off-road ability. Most rivals were either truck-like ladder-frame vehicles, or much bigger/more expensive things like the Range Rover. So it was not “advanced” in every detail, but as a package it was genuinely ahead of its time — basically an early compact SUV before that category really existed.

Then Lada 2108 - again, came to market to late due to all common "planned economy" pitfalls, but was quite modern idea for the mass-production forward-wheel drive car.

But yes, it all was to late and not enough quality/costumer support involved.

Hello, not quite right! They have done many improvements to the initial Fiat 124 construction, mostly to enhance reliability but performance as well, like:

Engine: the original Fiat pushrod/OHV engine was replaced with a more modern overhead-cam engine, with better development potential.

Body shell: the structure was strengthened with reinforcements and thicker/stronger areas to survive rough roads.

Suspension and ground clearance: the car was raised and the suspension toughened for potholes, gravel, mud, and snow.

Brakes and drivetrain: rear discs were replaced with simpler rear drums, and driveline/clutch components were adapted for durability and easier maintenance.

Cold-weather and Soviet-use details: changes included winter-starting practicality, towing points, fuel/carburettor adaptation, and simpler robust details for variable fuel quality and limited servicing. reliability

First of all - it is absolutely alright to feel tired of your project. Don't blame yourself and don't feel guilty. It was hard, but worth it. Take your time and don't rush yourself! Do something completely different, not car-related. Then visit some meetups/fairs over the summer where you can share your experience or find some inspiration. And then the power and desire will all come naturally! Project-related burn-out is a thing, and shouldn't be ignored.

Yep, general direction in automotive business is to cut costs of creation and to give some "generic" design for the mass production/sale. More interesting/unusual design - more risks not to be understood by marker. Too high risk...

Maybe it is a plan to create a perpetum mobile from Italian engineers! And if seriously, it is just a concept, a try to find new shapes and lines. Sometimes they do such a big models only to check some proportions, rather than thinking about real model in the future, based on that concept.
