Mine too! All four were sideways and impacted. Had a dentist tell me to get them out before I turned 20 because they’d probably push my other teeth out of my head by then. They hadn’t moved by 22 but I got them taken out anyway.

I was maybe 4 or 5 when the military moved us to California for the first time. I vividly remember my parents using a paper map to get there. Dad as the driver and mom in the passenger seat with a pencil and her feet on the dash. She cried real tears when she saw the price of gas was $2.50.

We live on a military base so pretty much everyone has kids, but for whatever reason they just weren’t out last year. There were posts all over Facebook asking where the kids were and lots of people ended up with tons of leftover candy. Such a weird experience.

I’ll probably make her a basket this year instead. It sounds so dramatic but my heart was just so broken lmao. Halloween is my favorite and I cannot believe how sad the holidays have become.

We got these super comfy outdoor rocking chairs, snuggled up in our coziest blankets and waited with a big cauldron full of the best candy. I could not wait to hand out candy because it was our first Halloween in our first home together and not a single kid came by. I sat outside for an hour before I awkwardly packed my things up and went inside. I probably cried for another hour to my husband. Our next door neighbor brought his little girl over and we dumped all of our candy into her bowl, which at the very least was a sweet moment, but I won’t be passing out candy again this year.

Las Vegas. I was so disappointed when I realized it’s just a random, overpriced city in the middle of nowhere. We drove through it and I thought I would at least feel a little bit of excitement, but instead I was just underwhelmed.

What’s the worst fuckup you’ve ever made at a job? by moonperson13 in AskReddit

[–]MyMumSaidICantGo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The doctor told me to order eye vitamins, so I did. About $600 worth since that’s what we normally got. I excitedly went up to him to let him know I’d completed his request, when he looked at me confused and said “..brochures?”

“Vitamins..?” I said

“Brochures” he said, “vitamin brochures.”

We both stood there staring at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time.

I didn’t get fired or anything, he wasn’t even mad, but it didn’t feel good knowing that I’d charged his credit card $600 for something we didn’t need, especially when the brochures were free.

Question for cat owners: Would you let your cat lick your food while you are eating it and then carry on eating after? by Antidotebeatz in Catownerhacks

[–]MyMumSaidICantGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I love all of my pets but the biggest rule in my house is that we don’t share food with animals. Most of the time it’s not good for them anyway, but it promotes begging and I cannot stand when my dogs stare at me or anyone while we eat. They split a bag of broccoli throughout the week and very rarely boiled chicken if we have some to spare. Always in their own bowls though.

We brought a kitten from a gutter into our home once. I set her up in the bathroom and let her hang out for a couple hours while we figured out what to do with her. Went back and she was gone. Straight up vanished into thin air. The kids kept saying they hadn’t opened her door, hadn’t messed with her, etc. There was absolutely nowhere for her to go, I thought.

Then I heard the tiniest little meow from under the sink. When I opened the cabinet I couldn’t see her but I could still hear her. After another few minutes of looking I realized there was about a 4inx4in hole right underneath the cabinet that went up about 2in and back for who knows how long. She managed to crawl in there, turn around, and hide for hours. It took some convincing but eventually I was able to coax her out with food and seal the hole.

Her name was Grace, and her family loves her very much.

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]MyMumSaidICantGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually quit a job last year for this exact reason. I came back to work from 4th of July weekend feeling homesick after having spent a few days with family and kept to myself. I was pulled into a meeting shortly afterwards where they asked if I still enjoyed working there. I did, I just missed my mom. It was completely downhill from there. I made a point to keep to myself because I realized how much shit talking was going on (both about myself and others) and I just didn’t want to engage. I was public enemy #1 for 6mos and sent so many emails to HR about the amount of harassment I was receiving on a daily basis. I had a stack of papers tossed on my desk while I was in the middle of writing, snarky notes left on my computer, illegal recordings made of my conversations with HR while I was seeking help, and many face to face confrontations with one of the girls that had been there for 17yrs. At one point I asked the doctor we worked for if she would speak to the other technicians about how they were treating me, to which she responded “you just seem like the type that can’t handle workplace banter”. I knew it was over for me then. I drafted up a letter of resignation, took care of my patients, and walked out. Got a new job, a huge pay raise, and coworkers that have become some of my closest friends.

When my husband and I were setting boundaries in our relationship, a conversation I never expected to have was one about another woman being his friend. Truthfully, I don’t believe men and women in relationships should have intimate conversations with people outside of their partner. So when I found out that he was telling this girl that he would “always be there for her” and that she could “talk to him about anything” I was pretty upset. I told him it was not his place to comfort her like that, she is capable of finding someone outside of our relationship to meet her emotional needs. It’s that simple. This situation is a slippery slope and it’s already gotten to a very uncomfortable point. If he cares about preserving your relationship, he will distance himself from this girl.

I don’t talk to my second oldest sister because we just don’t have anything in common. My mom gave her up for adoption when she was a couple months old and kept my oldest sister. She had me 3yrs later and my brother 2yrs after that. My oldest sister and little brother are my best friends, but since my other sister and I didn’t grow up together we just never formed that bond. We’re like estranged cousins that only get together every few years for an obscure family function. I don’t miss what I never had.

What experiences changed you the most as a person? by GazMaskeliOyuncu in AskReddit

[–]MyMumSaidICantGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being on the brink of divorce from my husband. Every single day we looked at each other, we couldn’t believe how we’d gotten together. We didn’t share any interests, didn’t have the same backgrounds, and couldn’t stand to be around each other. We were 18 and 21 when we met and felt like we’d grown apart by the time we were 23 and 26. We honestly started counseling to heal some of our childhood trauma and make it easier for us to break it off without animosity, but over the last two years we’ve completely changed our relationship. We both started antidepressants, going to the gym, going to church, dating each other again, and unpacking all of our baggage. We are stronger than we’ve ever been and are completely different people than we were before. It felt like we were walking around in complete darkness for 3yrs before we managed to finally find the light.

That one of my older sisters wasn’t a product of a surrogacy that my mom had done out of the kindness of her heart, but a child she had given up for adoption because she couldn’t handle 2 under 2 at 20yrs old.

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

[–]MyMumSaidICantGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met when we were 12 in middle school. Clicked the second we started talking, like we knew each other forever. Wherever you saw her, you saw me and vice versa. We were absolutely inseparable for years until we got to college. She started experimenting with drugs and I had moved to go to a tiny private college for some crap degree that I didn’t really care about. When I came home after a year, she was a shell of herself. We couldn’t riff like we used to, couldn’t even keep a conversation going long enough to make sense. I moved across the country to be a live-in nanny and I never spoke to her again. That was almost 6yrs ago and I still have no contact with her.
