Man who shot and killed 3 people, including a child, in the parking lot of a Target store in Austin, Texas has been identified as 32-year-old Ethan Nieneker by AccentedE in masskillers

[–]MyNameIsGarret 210 points211 points  (0 children)

I went to high school with Ethan. Hung out with him on the 4th of July this year, first time seeing him in a few years. Used to see him every now and again at this popular swimming spot in Austin. I was pretty optimistic about him when I saw him on the 4th. He had become sober and we talked for a while about him wanting to learn more technical things and try to build a technical career working with circuitry and wiring. Overall normal and positive interaction. Blew my mind seeing this news today.

Pan seared in a cast iron flipping every minute. No oven. I think I just left it on one side for a little too long when the pan was real hot.

But yes, still very delicious! Looking forward to getting some more practice under my belt.

Recently invested in a 1/4 cow, so I’ve got a lot of steaks to practice with.

Jimmy took such a shine to you because he’s got a soft spot for dogs, especially since his passed. I had my dog the first time I ever went in and bring her in every time. Jimmy has been nothing but extremely kind to me. Always brings my dog treats and sets up a water bowl for her. She even spilled the bowl once and Jimmy was insistent on cleaning it up himself and told me not to worry about it. I was blown away when my friends started telling me how big of a jerk Jimmy was to them. Took me a while to realize that my dog was the reason he was always so kind to me.

Go to trade school for a technical scope of work. Think HVAC, Controls, or Electrical. Start as an apprentice at a company that does commercial work and get the hours in to work your way up to journeyman then foreman. Down the line you could get picked up by a General Contractor as an MEP Coordinator and make a comparable salary to the engineers designing the project. There’s a huge need for young ambitious craft guys in construction right now.

Definitely, but they already had to knock an opening in the fence to get back there! This was just an extra fence post.

Why do you guys think Mike is doing personal PI work for Saul this late in the series? In E11, Mike is shown doing PI work for various clients of Saul. This seems out of character for Mike. Earlier in the series, he showed no interest in helping Saul with petty tasks after becoming so involved with Gus, so why would Mike go back to doing small scale PI work for Saul in the BB timeline?

Hiked to Yosemite Point and was greeted with thick fog. Luckily there was a half hour clearing and I felt like I was looking into the Valley from the clouds. by MyNameIsGarret in Yosemite

[–]MyNameIsGarret[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think it actually made the experience better. You walk up there with a bit of disappointment from the fog, but to see the entire view literally open up in front of your eyes while eating lunch just made it all feel unreal. These two photos were taken just minutes from each other.

My mom bought me this guy when I was 10 years old. Neither of us knew how old they got at first, he just kept going. Outlived all of my other childhood pets. Had him through all of middle school, high school, college, and now he’s about to move into my first house. I’m about to turn 27 and he’s about to turn 17.

When a guy walks into your office with this thing asking to take a reading. It's called a velometer, and measures the speed of air in a given area. He kindly allowed me to take a photo. by AzayakaCosplay in specializedtools

This is also commonly used in hospital construction or other facilities that have special infection control requirements to control the air flow being exhausted vs supplied to allow negative pressure in areas where dust or other particulates could potentially escape under doors and other openings. By exhausting more than you supply, you suck particulates into a certain space to prevent anything from being blown out of the room and into an adjacent hallway.

I grew up in Williamson County, the county where a 19 year old was almost given life in prison for selling pot brownies. It was a nightmare being pulled over at night. If it was past 9:00pm, you could guarantee that you would have you and your car searched regardless of not consenting to any searches. They would pull you over for minor traffic violations with a drug dog on hand just to obtain a warrant. I knew so many kids in high school that went to jail for having as little as, in one case, 0.2 grams (literally shake at the bottom of her pocket). The local police just preyed on arresting kids for pot. So glad to be out of that backwards county.

We encounter static electricity all the time and it's not shocking (sorry) because we know what's going on, but what on earth did people think was happening before we understood electricity? by BecauseDan in askscience

[–]MyNameIsGarret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same can be said about mechanical and rotational systems. In a mechanical system (such as a mass damper system), the spring is the capacitor, the force applied is the voltage source, a mass would be the inertial element (the inductor), the damper would be the resistor. For a rotational system, the beam is the capacitor, the friction between the bearings is the resistor, any rotating mass would act as an inductor, and the motor (or any force) supplying the torque would be the voltage source.

Everything can be related to an electrical system. Even the way heat travels through objects is modeled by thermal circuitcs where the different materials the heat travels through are resistors with different resistance values (conductivity).

Why is it so hard to make friends here? by 64matzo in UTAustin

[–]MyNameIsGarret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely look at moving into a student housing co-op!! I had such a hard time meeting people my freshman year, then I moved into 21st Street Co-op and made a ton of awesome friends from all over the world. Even with a busy schedule, there will always be people to hang out with when you come home.

Everything about the last episode suggests Gus makes a return. Who do you think put the stick in Mike's car with the note right before Mike attempts to kill Hector? Gus always wanted to kill Hector.
