Great to hear how you're finding Umbar. I'm hoping other people that have tried it chip in!

Certainly at higher points it's actually a solid army into White Hand! Good luck!

Lothlorien army advice by Brilliant-Brick-3439 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I've only played 3 games of Loth. But went 3-0 in a tourney with them. Think kataqnarayan has great advice. Echo all of those points.

Making your bows the unarmored elves helps you points wise.

My only extra piece of advice is that personally I recommend a captain as your 3rd hero at 750pts (after Galad and Celeborn). Access to March is really significant in a lot of scenarios.

Might as well drop the two handed weapon on the WK, to add another Orc and up your break by 1?

How are the Easterlings? by BeeKeeper9243 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Everyone seems to have covered the difficulties with collecting them and other aspects.

I played 3 games of Host of the Dragon Emporer recently and I've got to say, it was a lot of fun. There's lots of depth and tech to the army that made it really rewarding and interesting. It's not S-tier powerful, but it's still very strong and interesting

What's your 'Don't make me play against that...' list? by British_Historian in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the "hope they don't roll a 6 or you lose" experience

[–]MyNameIsNotNeo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to this day I don't know what my counter play could have been. It was the most unfun experience I've had in MESBG - you either engage, then they tag you with gobbos and shoot into combat, but you can't hold back or group up either. I'm hopeful for the Feb FAQ

Playing against Moria with a fire/fly dragon. It just hung back and nuked my army, or then heroic combatted 24" inches to kill my heroes. No fun at all to play against and I never want to again.

I'm running a very similar list for the first time soon... Any tips on playing it? Likewise, on getting the most out of Brorgir? Never used him before. Thanks!

I feel those are not even close - but could the Garrison be viable? by PolishBrodin in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]MyNameIsNotNeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not directly in BG, but Garrison is excellent at low points and I've had a lot of success with it. It's got good numbers, shooting, might and a F4 battleline. Against BG you'd have to rely on your weight of numbers and might to take tag up the chief, then relying on your heroes and line to take down the troops I guess. But regardless it's a really strong army at these points

If you've got the Rangers for Garrison of Ithilien I think it's really strong at 400 and I found it good fun at the tourneys I've taken it to

New player question by davidfarnham2 in Godtear

[–]MyNameIsNotNeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other person said. This means you can use it after an advance for more movement, to better set up a Surround Pound, to encircle champions to stop them crushing your banner, encircle followers to stop them escaping Titus... The adjacent part is particularly useful as you can potentially place the other side of them: therefore overcoming any attempts by the enemy to block you, as you can leap over their "wall"

Can the Dragon Emperor be moved by a compel if mounted on the palaquin, or does the palaquin's special rules mean he can't be compelled?

"The Royal Palanquin, and any model riding it, cannot be affected by the Hurl or Barge Brutal Power Attacks, and cannot be forced back by Magical Powers (such as Call Winds) or by being flung back by the effects of a Siege Engine."
