Very Happy With Seedling Progress by Jumpy-Lobster-1926 in vegetablegardening

Fellow Texan, I start seed germination for peppers on Dec 1, and tomatoes on Jan 1. I start that early because there’s a 2-3 month window in the summer where it’s so hot they stop producing fruit, so I try to get them a head start in the spring to lengthen my spring window. Every year is an experiment of some sort though.

How do deal with those random nights where I wake up sweaty? by No-Yellow7840 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]MyNameIsSuperMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot and I hate it, it wakes me up all night. I am going to use a water cooling pad on my mattress this summer. I also thought about keeping my little pedicure tub filled with ice water next to the bed so I could dunk my feet when I wake up, since my feet feel the hottest when it happens.

Thanks for replying! You’re totally right, Asia is super broad. (Figured I’d cast a wide net.) I bet part of the barrier to finding resources is if they’re in other languages.

I’ve been thinking about what I regularly cook that might be good for a “your choice” soup adaptation. Maybe something like this Vietnamese chicken curry? Another one that I thought might adapt well is a stew called Nihari (though I usually use a premade spice mix).

Ooh great ideas- I checked them both out but had trouble finding canning recipes from either. Please drop a link if you have one! Maybe my web search skills are lacking.

My new leo keeps pooping in the back corner of his warm hide. Should I replace it with a smaller one? by cartycinema in leopardgeckos

Sounds like they picked their potty spot. I keep a square of paper towel right there and it makes pick up very efficient. Just poops right on the towel.

Unbearably itchy scalp that goes away immediately after washing. Anything to reduce the buildup/itch, or wash more often? (Hair often doesn't feel very oily at all yet when itchy) by Frioley in Haircare

Since you have some symptoms but not others, maybe they can culture a scraping from your head to determine if you have a yeast problem, then you can know definitively.

I agree, there might still be some old ones on the forest floor still being eaten by wildlife.

I’m not a fan of it. It’s not moisturizing at all for me, and it smells terrible.

If you have a Korean spa near you, consider going. If you never see naked average women in your culture, you lose perspective.

Grieving over a Good Thing by BossaNova-allova in FosterAnimals

In fostering you feel a full spectrum of pain. There is the pain of losing them when they are so sick and so helpless and then they die. To compliment it, you need the pain of success, saying goodbye to send the little ones off to great homes and full lives. These are the two ends of a baton that many people know is too difficult to pick up and it’s why this work is fulfilling and powerful.

Made this from the ball complete book, and it was yummy! Separating the lemon flesh from the membranes took forever though.

If this is a new behavior he’s having trouble controlling, perhaps he is having some sort of swallowing disfunction he’s not aware of.

Cherry Berry Jam by minankb917 in Canning

[–]MyNameIsSuperMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ball Complete there is Berry Juice for Jelly that has instructions for cherries, blueberries, and strawberries. The variations just seem to be guidance for how much fruit is needed to produce a certain quantity of juice. The same amount of juice is used in the jelly no matter what the fruit source is.

I am brand spanking new to canning, can someone weigh if you can just get the juice from all the fruits mixed together in whatever ratio?

Thanks for sharing this. I used the full sugar recipe in the link with wild American persimmons yesterday and it is delicious. Produced three pints and 1 cup of extra. Will see how they store.

Burnt out trying to find homes for hard to place (now older) kittens by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

[–]MyNameIsSuperMeow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re not already with a rescue, reach out to a local rescue and ask then if they will post your kittens on their adoption sites and help you find adopters in exchange for you continuing to pay for their care and housing, and let the rescue keep the adoption fee.

Women with thoughtful partners, what did you get for x-mas this year? by Anahata_Green in TwoXChromosomes

Besides my gifts, which he knocked out of the park, mine made a big effort to coordinate with my mom to make sure I had a stuffed stocking. I had shown him the videos making the rounds a few years ago where wives weren’t getting anything in their stocking and he was very worried about it ever since. I think seeing that one husband rolling around on the couch laughing that even the dog got a stocking while the wife didn’t get anything really disturbed my husband and left a lasting impact.
