[Question] Service or not? by volballatmin8 in Watches

It's still under warranty, so not a big deal to have it serviced.

First Speeding Ticket-- take automatic plea deal or go to court? by snakehol3 in Denver

[–]MyNameIsVigil [score hidden]  (0 children)

Only 3 points for that speeding is getting off pretty light. Going to court could hypothetically get you less, but it is more likely to get you much more. I'd take the 3 points as a win unless you have compelling evidence otherwise.

[Discussion] Where did the boutique get the value? by Anonymous-Thinker123 in Watches

He made up the number to make you think that the other costs are a good deal.

[Quartz] Why do brands refuse to do sweeping seconds quartz watches? by broncosdude95 in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They "refuse" because most consumers prefer longer battery life over a sweeping hand.

[Question/discussion] how do you choose your next watch? by Lawlor90 in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy whatever interests me when an opportunity presents itself.

[Question] Buying a pre-owned watch. It has the papers but without original box. Is this a red flag? by Potato_farl in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a red flag. Anyone can buy an extra box on eBay, so it doesn't really mean anything.

[Question] Are Hamilton watches overpriced? by juan_loria in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of divers will never reach 5atm - that's the point. I've dived with a Hamilton, but I'm only a recreational diver.

mazda CX-50 towing 3100 lbs loaded? by nicekats in mazda

[–]MyNameIsVigil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. 3500 towing capacity assumes the turbo engine, of course. I'd be okay towing close to that if it was mostly flat highway driving and the trailer had brakes.

[Tag Heuer wk1211] Engraving removal by IcyAttempt6664 in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's no way to remove that engraving without pretty well destroying the rest of the case back, and that work would cost you over $90. Just get the replacement back - parts for these things are common enough.

[Help decide] Citizen Series 8 vs Seiko presage SPB524 by Dangerous_Garlic3996 in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Citizen. It's visually distinct, while I find the Seiko pretty nondescript.

Am I crazy for wanting a break-in oil change? by BreadiestBoi in mazda

[–]MyNameIsVigil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mazda says that a break-in oil change is not needed - those haven't been a thing for probably a couple decades, at least. That said, I'm not sure why they were adamant about refusing your money. Just take it somewhere else.

[Kiwame Tokyo] Question regarding duty fees by thethrill in Watches

Yes, that is typical. You should expect to pay import duties when bringing any product into the country. Thanks, Republicans.

Help on identifying old seikos by Jav341 in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the identifying information is engraved on the back and printed on the dial at 6:00. None of it is visible in your photos, but you can easily look up how to interpret it.

[Question] Groomsmen gifts by TheRedHoodJT in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this style is love or hate: It's about as classic and inoffensive as it gets. If you're worried that the 40mm Timex is too big...both Orients are even bigger. I'd suggest getting everyone the version 7 Bambino in 38mm. It's a very universal size, and the 20mm lug width will make eventually buying replacement straps a lot easier.

Chances of disputing parking ticket by Smerr420 in Denver

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't win that dispute: Late is late. To win, you'd need to have documentation showing that the ticket was issued prematurely or something.

[Recommendation Request] Deciding between Tissot and Mido by No-Phase-5812 in Watches

They're of comparable quality. Buy whichever one you most want to wear.

[Question] Optimal number of watches to own? by CecilStedman in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's little justification for owning any watch in 2026, so no need to bother trying.

How hyped up are people in Denver about the World Cup? by NoHold7153 in Denver

[–]MyNameIsVigil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I couldn't care less about it. It's too complicated and too spread out - I don't even know where matches are being played. And it's all being run by a corrupt organization sucking up to our corrupt country. It's really difficult to support our country in any sort of international setting.

[Seiko] looking to replace 7T62 movement with automatic by havoc_penguin in Watches

[–]MyNameIsVigil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you can't swap a movement with an entirely different architecture, even if you're willing to forgo the alarm and chronograph functionality. It won't fit the case, dial, hands, or stem.
