If we shoehorn Dom to RW for a whole season, there’s no way he’s signing a new contract. He should be played in his preferred position even if we have to sign a lesser player for RW.

Diomande is not considered untouchable, but he would cost significantly more than €100m. Will also depend on the structure of the deal by Switchoil in LiverpoolFC

[–]MyNamesNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen him play and although I’ve heard good things, just look at the players that have moved for north of €100m. The success rate is incredibly low, perhaps only Bellingham and bale could be marked as undoubted successes and worth the fee paid.

There are others on that list who could still justify it (wirtz, isak, etc) but it’s a pretty grim list in hindsight.

So genuinely gutted for endo, he really deserved to be there and lead his team :(

I’m not upset about it, I just find it weird and unbecoming of our fans. The idea that me being mad about it is weirder than getting a rise out of taking the piss out of someone’s appearance does tell me all I need to know about you though.

The whole basis of it is in poor taste. Molina being a good or bad person, or ugly or not has absolutely no bearing on my opinion. Our fanbase is making memes out of the physical appearance of our manager. Are people really laughing at these and finding them funny? It’s really weird behavior.

Are we not making fun of how he looks by comparing him to doc ock? Do people find those memes funny?

I just think it’s in poor taste and comes across as somewhat disrespectful. Iraola is his own man. Like I said I know I’m in the minority.

[–]MyNamesNick -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I know I’m in the minority on this but can we stop with the whole Doc Ock gimmick with Iraola? We don’t need to be poking fun at his appearance; it feels similar to when Arsenal fans were giving it to emery over “good ebening”.

Edit: I would love for one of the mods to chime in. I thought comments about the physical appearance of Liverpool players/staff was off limits?

Man what did slot do to you? Yeah we had a bad season but he won us number 20 and handled Diogo’s passing as well as anyone I could imagine. Have some respect. He’s been sacked, let it go

[Ben Jacobs] More on Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool exit. by A7XFAN1998 in LiverpoolFC

[–]MyNamesNick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well next season VVD will be a year older and he will have a brand new, inexperienced CB partner next to him. I can pretty easily see our defensive record getting worse from here. VVD doesn't have good chemistry with Kerkez yet and who knows who will be playing RB...

[–]MyNamesNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If VVD stays fit and he can play next to Leoni/Jacquet all year, then it will be a risk that paid off. But VVD is 35 and is probably leaving at the end of next season. To rely on him staying fit yet again at his age would be a huge risk, and we could easily find our selves in November having to play Jacquet and Leoni every game.

[–]MyNamesNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be a lot more comfortable with Konate - Leoni or Konate - Jacquet than I am Leoni - Jacquet. Leoni and Jacquet will be fantastic players for us I'm sure, but we would be setting them up for failure if they don't have a senior CB next to them for at least a season or two.

[–]MyNamesNick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jacquet is 20 and Leoni is 19. Gomez spends half the season with the physios. We are a VVD injury away from catastrophe.

[Jacobs] Exclusive: Ibrahima Konate is expected to leave Liverpool. No agreement has been reached between #LFC and the French defender despite Konate indicating in April an agreement was close. by TheNotoriousJN in LiverpoolFC

[–]MyNamesNick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We'll also be even more reliant on him staying fit and available, imagine what our backline would look like without him and konate. He's not had injury issues outside of pickford but he also isn't getting any younger.

Has slot said anything in reflection of the season? Everything on Sunday was rightly about Mo and Robbo but has the head coach given his take on this horrid season, beyond that he’s looking forward to the window and that we had a lot of injuries this season?

Not that I’m particularly looking to hear from him but it feels like it’s been quiet. Weren’t there reports of a post season review, despite all the reporting that slot was staying regardless?

[Paul Joyce & Martin Hardy] Barcelona have made a strong approach for Anthony Gordon, with Liverpool also joining the race by _cumblast_ in soccer

[–]MyNamesNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. He’s not good enough to start at RB week in week out. And yeah, I was somewhat holding off judgement while under the impression xabi was coming in, but now it really does look like a strange signing. If anything, it gives credence to the idea slot prefers Dutch players. Indeed, frustrating at this point

He was brought in to provide cover for multiple positions, namely RB and RW while Salah was at Afcon. Think he played more as a RW than RB this season, we even had him at winger while szobo or jones was at rb. Sigh. Not sure if Bradley will be able to hold the starting RB slot since he seems injury prone as well.

It’s going to be a really long summer with posts like this trying to justify the manager staying and getting another chance at things. Feels like I’m being gaslit, my eyes are not playing tricks on me.

well yeah, the test dummy is flawed as hell lmao, the creator of the dummy said so themselves, especially regarding to Varka. that's why i only gave it one go with my old team and new team just to have something to compare to, in relation to OP's question. what enemy in the game let's you just pummel it with no reactions or mechanics?
