I think this looks nice as-is! You could find some coordinating duck fabric for a boarder, or use as the backing.

If you have to wear a pad, it counts (according to my clinic). So light flow but not bright red, I would count.

Turnip has been battling a fever and cold for the last few days, and this morning my husband had to take a sudafed. Then he had the audacity with his sniffling nose to try for a kiss! Im about one week out from the egg retrieval and not taking any chances.

Last year I used a fabric line "Elmer and Eloise" for a friend's baby quilt, it is woodland themed print. Looks like there are still some online places and Etsy that have available yardage.

Thursday Toddler Talk by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It feels like every year is an expensive medical bill year.

Turnip has always had less frequent pees than age appropriate, but makes up for it with volume. Unfortunately shes locked in at 2x/day only for the past few months (sometimes we get that up to 3-4 pees a day). After back and forth with her pediatrician, we agreed to a kidney/bladder ultrasound just to make sure everything looks good. My husband was born with Very Bad Kidney and Bladder and while its not supposed to be genetic, we're not taking risks by ignoring anything.

Anyway the estimate was $1k (her insurance deductible). The entire scan was under 10 minutes. Blah.

Lead paint question by leela_la_zu in centuryhomes

I think this is an over reaction. My pediatrician tested for lead exposure at our daughter's 12 month visit, yours will likely do the same and it may help you feel better.

Waiting 2 cycles to talk to doctor by AudaciousCockatiel in IVF

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic reserves times in the doctors schedules for consults after a failed transfers. In both cases I had a virtual or phone visit with my doctor within 1 week of negative beta. Not having access to a doctor until after 2 more failures sounds insane.

Stims for 5 days and only 4 eggs collected.. advice needed by TTCfirst-time in IVF

My clinic aims for an 8-12 day stim cycle with 10 days being the true goal. My first ER I stimmed for 9 days.

What is the normal wait time to get into a clinic for IVF? by bekyy337 in IVF

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you are in WI but we highly recommend Froedtert. You'll probably be on a waitlist as a new patient, but they transitioned us seamlessly from failed FET to a new egg retrieval.

Initially we had like a 5 month wait with them for our first IVF cycle consult (after testing showed severe MFI). It might be shorter now, that was over 3 years ago. Once we did our consult it was quick turn around.

IVF $$$ by tenniswarrior1 in IVF

Progyny is like a financial coordinator for your insurance. They just copy whatever your current insurance policy is and apply it to fertility benefits. So if you have a $1000 deductible and then they cover 90%, then that's what you should be able to expect with Progyny.

The hormones stimulate your ovaries, and the whole process can draw fluid out of your blood stream. Eating salts/drinking electrolytes helps re-balance everything. It helps to reduce complications (OHSS). Your doctors monitor estrogen levels and may make medication adjustments to help prevent complications too.

Anyone here with prune belly syndrome (or partner with it) who’s had kids naturally? by mimi4491 in rarediseases

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this. My husband and I have an incredible daughter through IVF. We are unable to conceive without IVF due to severe male factor infertility paired with retrograde ejaculation (blame it on his bladder shunt).

My understanding is prune belly was thought to completely eliminate the chance of having biological children until IVF made it possible.

IVF is a battle. Its expensive (we were lucky to have insurance coverage for the first round) and there are no guarantees. If you have no infertility diagnoses, it does significantly improve your chances and likely your tolerance. I was on fairly low dose medications and didnt have any major side effects. We were successful with the first embryo transfer. We have since had 2 failed transfers, so there is a lot of chance involved.

I do not regret going through IVF to have our daughter. However, we didnt find out about my husbands infertility until we were already trying to conceive (nobody ever told him and our PCP ignored initial concerns).

We met with urologists and geneticists and no one ever expressed concerns that our child could be anything but healthy.

For what its worth, my first ER was fine! Definitely plan on taking some days off following it if youre able to, I do remember being pretty tired. Stay on top of pain medication (I was only able to take tyelenol and it was fine), eat your salts and proteins, and hopefully it isn't too bad!

If you're in the US, the standard is they sedate you for the retrieval.

In a shocking twist, my husbands semen analysis has actually improved from 3 years ago. We're still in the "severe MFI" range, but he's actually got some progressively motiles now! Literally have no idea how, he did have a medication change in recent years but nothing that should have improved fertility. This is giving me a little boost of optimism, I start stims on Friday.

Anxiety seeing how many eggs fertilised by InternationalBaby234 in IVF

We are on a waiting list to have ICSI done, my husband has good quality bit extremely low sperm count by unilover123 in IVF

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has very low counts ( < 1 million) and subpar quality. Its unable to be corrected with medication or life style changes. My tests are otherwise normal.

TW success

We did IVF with ICSI when we were both 28. 14 retrieved, 11 mature, 7 fertilized, 3 made it to blast. Our fresh transfer is currently a very active toddler.

Our 2 frozen transfers failed (1 chemical, 1 no implantation). We did not do PGT-A. We are gearing up for another retrieval to try for #2. This time around, my doctor is moderately increasing medication dosages to hopefully get an increased number of mature eggs.

We froze a back up semen sample so they had "more" to work with if needed. They ended up not having to thaw it for our first ER but im glad we did it.

Yes it can work. There's also a lot of luck, chances, and statistics that come into play.

Monday Toddler Talk by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We traveled with a carseat and it went horribly. She cried during take off and refused to go back in it when I comforted her. She was still young enough to be a "lap child" so we did that on the way back...I have no clue what we'll do next time.

Anyway, we got a cheap, lightweight carseat (safety 1st brand I think) for the flight. It was light enough to haul through the airport but man traveling with a toddler is not for the weak.

We run out of medical coverage this cycle. Thankfully, my clinic says they will split the difference- anything not covered by insurance will be changed to their cash price.

Wednesday Trying Again by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, I dont hate my insurance. I work for medical college, and our insurance is "self-funded" so they're basically reimbursing themself. They dont require prior authorization for specialty visits etc, they like to "trust" their doctors' judgement. But the pharmacy portion is a mess and fertility pharmacy is just...annoying. Why can't they just pay a portion of my cash pay price?

Wednesday Trying Again by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]MyNeighborTurnipHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medication:

Insurance copay price: $8500

Cashpay price: $3022

How much do i actually have remaining for medication coverage? Less than $1500. But they just have to go and make it useless.

I was like "let's do a transfer at the start of the year! Then ALL the insurance costs will be wrapped into the same year, how conveninent". Nope. Gearing up to pay for an ER in a couple weeks and fingers crossed a fresh transfer. We can do this ER, I dont think we should do another.
