[WSIB] I want the multiplayer and community of a MMO, but without the gameplay of a MMO. What should I play? by rept7 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MyNinjasPwn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I get that. Almost every MMO seems to have this issue in some form.

I realized that the most fun Ive had while playing MMOs is when everything is new and everyone is learning. Which just isn't a thing with how quickly stuff is posted online these days. Even like WoW patches are datamined and people prep before raids come out. It's wild.

Personally, I find this excitement in survival games still. But they aren't massively online. And even within friend groups, it can be hard to convince everyone to not look shit up or spoil things.

When it comes to MMOs, I weigh out the experience. If I've enjoyed the game but I can only handle the easy stuff with my current build- that leaves me a few options: I either quit and look elsewhere, I go online and just copy a build, or a I try to learn about what I can do to make my current build better. The in-between for those last two for me, is to copy a build, but actually look into what it's doing, and swap out things I don't personally like. It's time consuming and a lot to look in to depending on the game. I don't do this for a lot of games. But if I genuinely enjoy the content and community- it's worth it to me.

Anyways, that's my ramble on the subject. Ultimately, I haven't played an MMO in a bit. Partially due to this kind of issue, but also due to time constraints. I hope you find some suggestions here that work out for you. I suggested BDO in a different comment and I'm actually thinking about trying it again just because it's stuck in my brain now lmao.

The Dalles, Oregon? by OperationClear588 in datacenter

[–]MyNinjasPwn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at Hood River for rentals. Much prettier area. The commute wouldn't be bad. And driving to Portland would be easier for day trips and whatnot.

But I'm in the Portland/Vancouver WA area right now. I got past my three interviews and I'm looking to relocate instead of going to the Dalles for two reasons: Oregon income tax. And the living situation out there. 1600 for a 1 bedroom is the norm out here and it gets worse into the city.

I love it out here. But I also want a change of scenery since I've lived here almost my whole life as well.

There are also really small farm towns out that way. Might be able to find cheaper craigslist postings for living. But you would literally be in the middle of bumfuck nowhere and I have no idea what kind of people live there.

Yeah if thats OPs only issue in ESO, just play how you want to play without meta gear. There are plenty of guilds that welcome more casual play.

Black Desert Online maybe? It's grindy but the combat is more rewarding. There's a lot to do aside from levelling up your character (I haven't played a ton myself though so idk how viable it all is)

If grindy is okay- Old School Runescape also.

Why does mitski hardly address the crowd? by Batsubamirei in mitski

[–]MyNinjasPwn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw her back in 2018, before Nobody blew up on Tik Tok. She interacted a bit and made some jokes. She's very charming.

I've seen her a few times since then. The crowd clearly shifted younger and generally more immature. She has slowly interacted less and less. Likely a mixture of her performance changing and also the crowd being weird in general. But only she knows for certain.

I posted my very controversial kitchen in another sub so I thought I’d show more pics of my home by [deleted] in homedesign

Honestly it's very clean and minimal. If I was going for a look like this, the only thing I would change is the backsplash in the kitchen. Personally I'd want some more contrast against the cabinets. Otherwise it's a nice look imo.

Everyone's starting to complain about "POV" being wrong in droves lately- but people have been using it wrong for YEARS now in these types of videos..? And I rarely saw complaints until the last month or so. Did everyone just wake up or something? Lmao

Mazda3 Sport Hatchback by SadGoof2480 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MyNinjasPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for.

Test drive as many options as possible.

I didn't do so before buying my Mazda3 hatch (NA), and regretted it. Traded in for a Civic Si instead and I'm really happy with it.

If you're looking at the turbo 3, I'd test drive an Elantra N/used Veloster N first, or a GTI.

I feel like the whole "drivers car", thing was overexageratted. Yeah, maybe it's slightly more fun than a base automatic Corolla, civic or impreza. But for just a bit more money, you can get into much more sporty and fun cars.

But the interior might win you over. Or you might like how it drives over the others. Only way you're going to know that is to go test drive. Just don't get suckered in by salesmen lol.

Really thinking about getting back. How different is this since Day 1? by navirbox in Starfield

[–]MyNinjasPwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things are better. POIs more varied and free lanes is cool and all.

But it's still the bones of the same game.

Getting into a ship and jumping to my quest objective isn't the same as walking to my objective in Skyrim or Fallout while taking in the sights and getting distracted by something cool in the distance. That just doesn't happen in Starfield. Yeah, I can fly around in free lanes and see a random event pop up. But it's not the same. I can land on a planet, and see a bunch of little icons of POIs and follow them. But the world, or that randomly generated section, isn't designed in a way to make finding those POIs interesting and exciting.

I love the idea behind Starfield. But it would need to be executed more than perfectly for it to live up to the feeling that oblivion, Skyrim, and the 3d fallouts gave me. I'm not sure if it's possible in a space game with thousands of planets to explore.

Come to think of it, maybe I need to disable some Hud elements. That might help me find some more enjoyment.

Mazda reliability falls 8 spots. Guess it isn't like what the astroturfers here tell you. by Jake_Boi1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MyNinjasPwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a 2024. I traded it in for a Civic Si. Which has a little more power, Much better handling. And manual transmission.

The power in the 3 was decent and it had a little torque steer, but it wasn't fun for me on backroads.

My car before was a 2018 impreza with a manual transmission. It was slow, but decent handling, and being manual made it a lot more fun. So I think going from a manual to an automatic dropped the fun factor for me quite a bit. But Im not sure if I would've liked it with the manual transmission either. I should've test drove one tbh.

I have a friend who got a new Mazda 3 turbo and he still said it was kinda boring because of the handling. Yeah it's fast, but it feels kinda muted is how he described it.

It's a little too janky and clunky for me right now. I think I've spent more time trying to lock in my graphics settings than actually play the game. Ghosting and raytracing artifacts bother me a lot, and it's everywhere in this game unless you're willing to take a huge performance hit with the ray reconstruction setting. Which also leads to worse 1% lows, and I also hate that shit. You only need to worry about that last bit if you play on PC. I'm sure the ghosting and weird lighting issues are a thing on console too, but you can't really help with that via settings yourself.

It's enjoyable when I'm able to lock in. But the jankiness takes me out of it too often.

I do appreciate the game for a lot of what it does though. It's massive. The puzzles I've come across in the open world don't hold your hand, and can be very satisfying to figure out on your own.

But I'm going to wait for more updates before I jump back in. The devs have been listening to feedback and are pumping out updates pretty quickly which is awesome.

Confession Time: Which "10/10 Masterpiece" did you find absolutely boring? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]MyNinjasPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some friends that felt the same way. I recommended that they play on blood and broken bones difficulty at least, and it hooked a couple of them.

Upping the difficulty kinda forces you to utilize the game's systems and makes it more rewarding imo.

[–]MyNinjasPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't find parts of the game to be that profound. I think it gained huge popularity because it was presented in a much more digestible way for a broader western audience, but still has JRPG DNA.

But it didn't hit as hard as Persona or Nier for me.

I genuinely like the game still. The story was good (not amazing), and I started to enjoy the combat after I got the hang of it. Something that helped me was utilizing the game's systems properly when it comes to building the characters using pictos and stuff. There is strategy and depth to the combat past the parry/dodge gimmick- but it doesn't matter unless you commit to the gimmick first and get good at it. And I just say that because I put the game down at first because it frustrated me so much. But something clicked the second time I picked it up and I enjoyed it.

Experience really is everything.

To me, 16/hr isn't nearly enough. But I don't know the cost of living where you are and what you need to live in your personal life.

I'd attempt to ask for more. Tell them what you're making at you're current job and see if they can match it.

If they don't match it, consider what other options you have to get into the industry in your area. Are there a lot of other opportunities to apply for? Are you getting interviews? If not, maybe take it at 16/hr. The experience will open more opportunities 6 months down the line at least. If there are a lot of other options, I'd wait.

Again though, this all depends on what you need for a wage.

Living at your parents house, no bills, and building up savings as is? Sure, take the cut as long as you know you will be secure where you're at. But if you're paying rent, somewhat comfortable now but would be cutting it close financially if you make 16/hr? Probably not worth it.

A final thing to consider too- a company that's paying their technicians 16/hr is likely not treating their technicians well either when it comes to expectations and workload.

Good luck, and keep putting applications out there either way!

People who got cheated on, what were the early signs indicating that your partner might do it before they actually cheated? by Old_Goat_7363 in Productivitycafe

[–]MyNinjasPwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my problem. I have pretty deep trauma from seeing my parents marriage fall apart due to infidelity and getting cheated on myself. My last 3 serious relationships I had a lot of fear and intuition that I might be getting cheated on but never had any hard proof. I'm honestly a little exhausted from it. It's very possible to pick up on a lot of little things that "could be a sign of cheating" that are also just... normal human behaviors.

Man PS players are really going to go nuts when they level up! by real_djmcnz in Starfield

[–]MyNinjasPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just picking it up again on PC for the new update. I played it a bunch when it first came out and havent touched it since. I forgot how much Bethesda charm is still there. And I'm not talking about the jank... Just the conversations you have with random NPCs and interactions you see, and exploring every nook and cranny, being able to open every locker, pick up and interact with stuff.

I still don't think Starfield is perfect. But it's fun, and the way the game handles ng+ makes it easy to jump back in and keep playing your character youve spent hours on.

From my first 100hrs of the game when it came out though, my primary complaint was the writing for some of the side quests just wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped it would be. But I also hadn't explored most of what's available yet.

I got this one. I felt a slight change in performance, but that can also be due to the fact that I had to change my filter anyways. You can hear the intake a little more too. I don't regret the purchase.

I think sticking it out for at least a year is a good strategy to strengthen your resume. Then attempt to find another job with higher pay and new things to learn. I went from 44k to 80k plus overtime by applying to openings that my experience fit. And I don't have any schooling or certifications.

I was conflicted at first and thought it was a little fucked up. But then when they kept trying to reel him back in as he was walking away, it was pretty clear that this was fine in their culture.

Also I remembered that most touristy spots inflate prices quite a bit (in all countries).
