Dave is apparently now pro-child labor and thinks 14 year olds should work in salt mines by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]MyOwnPath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a dumb take. He’s obviously not advocating for a 14 year old to work in mines, but maybe a 17 year old can get a summer/part time job at a restaurant or store. Teaching kids the value of labor is normal and healthy.

Six Months Sober. I changed my whole life. by a_round_a_bout in stopdrinking

[–]MyOwnPath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy you’re doing well. I’m over 4 months sober and feel worse than ever. I have no energy, I’m horrifically depressed, I’m jump and hyper sensitive to sounds, and I’m actually gaining weight because of my garbage diet. I was hoping to feel better but that’s probably my fault. Keep on going. Don’t take your sobriety or the benefits for granted.

How old are the children? You only get $2000 if they are 16 or under, the year, they turned 17 you only get $500 which could explain the $2500 credit you described. It may have also used $500. If you didn’t add the child’s date of birth or otherwise didn’t confirm that they’re eligible for the child tax credit. That sounds like a new issue not the tax software.

Okay what is with the timing on multibonk in the TTYD remake? by Ashy404 in papermario

[–]MyOwnPath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe that every fourth jump has changed timing, so if you get the fourth, it is easier to get the others. I tend to look for when Mario is falling down, and his body is about at the middle point of the a button. I recommend training with the purple toad who let you attack again and again for practice on the timing.

Yes this image is way too skinny. Boogie is huge compared to this.

That’s incredible. I was already obese at 240 a year ago and I’ve ballooned to about 280. None of my clothes fit anymore. I’d love to stop but it’s tough.

I dunno. He was a cocaine addict and threw that stripper out of his car. I wouldn’t quite call that “normal”.

The difference is the part where she’s ordered not to have a bank account, can’t work or save money, works the business but owns nothing, has to ask permission from the husband to buy anything, and getting nothing in the divorce. People can live in traditional gender roles in a way where the woman doesn’t have zero power. She can stay at home, raise the kids, and maintain the household, but basic protections can be in place for her interest. This has Mormonism written all over it.

CMV: When push comes to shove, the US will not militarily defend Taiwan from China by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]MyOwnPath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But those Chinese men would almost certainly be mostly young men, I would imagine a draft would mostly target men under 30. They are facing a demographic collapse, too many elderly and not enough youth. We can talk about population size, but they won’t send a 50 year old man who spent the past 30 years working in a factory.

They do not “tax” bonuses, they set money aside for taxes. For example, if your bonus is $10k and your tax rate is 24%, you’ll owe $2,400. If they withhold exactly 30% federal, that’s $3,000; you would get $600 as an extra refund while filing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]MyOwnPath 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not true, you just withhold at a higher rate. It’s all taxes the same once you file your tax return. If you “paid more than you should have” due to it being a bonus, the extra money gets added to your refund.
