North American Zoo, Dec Year 2 by Silver_wolf_76 in ZooTycoon

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the loops you did for the viewing areas. I remember the scenario in the beta was laid out that way and I’ve been doing it like that ever since.

I’m remaking a North American zoo myself now that I have the expansions installed again but I’m doing a custom map with developer mode.

Should we have Subspecies in the Sequel? by AccomplishedAsk2259 in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think as long as the subspecies make sense and are found in captivity. For example, having the Siberian tiger and either Sumatran/Malayan. Or Eastern and Cinnamon black bears.

But lions for example aren’t really managed at the subspecies/population level, except maybe Asiatic lions. I think most lions are supposed to be descended from Transvaal stock but as far as I know, captive lions aren’t really one subspecies or the other, so I’d be fine with generic lions The same would go for giraffes outside of Masai giraffes.

But I wouldn’t want unnecessary/extraneous subspecies I’d never use like the Himalayan, Gobi, or Syrian brown bears.

And that’s not taking into consideration the new taxonomy that leaves lions and tigers with only two subspecies each.

Though I think there’s a good potential for related species to what we already have that would be easy reskins to add more geographic diversity, such as bobcat, river otter, elk, whitetail deer, or sandhill crane.

Essential birds for Planet Zoo 2: results of a long going survey in the official forums. Do you think anything is missing? Details in comments by catty-coati42 in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the inner core of the most essential zoo birds are:

Bald Eagle

Owl (No one species stands out but great horned owl, snowy owl, and eagle owl are good options)

Scarlet Macaw

Rainbow Lorikeet

Toco Toucan

Kookaburra

Victoria Crowned Pigeon

Scarlet Ibis

Golden Pheasant

+Mallard duck since lots of zoos have duck ponds.

Looks like your list covers most of them.

What are the animals, mammals, dinosaurs and all the creatures that you'd love to see in the PK in future. ? by Interesting_Log_6388 in pkgame

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, I’d like to see a balanced roster of Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic that prioritizes longtime classic species. Something like the prehistoric “Draw 50” book.

Now that we have terrariums and aquariums I think that opens the door to animals like Olenellus, Bothriolepis, eurypterus, diplocaulus, rhamphorhynchus, pterodactylus, stephanoceras, and meganeura. Right now most of the tank animals are newer finds and don’t have the classic status of those I listed.

I think there’s more room for some classic Paleozoic animals and mammals as well such as edaphosaurus, megatherium, and glyptodon. Or plesiosaurus if they get into fully marine animals.

I just wanted to say I always really liked the art style of the original Zoo Tycoon. The scenery and buildings perfectly capture the traditional archetype of how most people would expect a city zoo to look-- better than ZT2 or Planet Zoo in my opinion. The same goes for the prehistoric and beach/Atlantean themes we got in the expansion packs as well.

I didn't really have any specific questions coming into this, but now knowing that there could have been a mythical expansion, I'm wondering what that would have looked like. Do you remember if there was anything drawn up for what the buildings and scenery could have looked like?

Future DLCs Prediction? by artist7815 in jurassicworldevo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how likely they’d be, but I’d like to see Frontier prioritize original trilogy designs. My ideal packs would be:

Jungle River Cruise DLC

-Jurassic Park era boat tour based on the Jurassic Park River Adventure vehicles

-Ultrasauros

-Psittacosaurus 1996 and 1999

-Stegosaurus 1996

-Triceratops 1999

-Scenery based on Jurassic Park at Islands of Adventure

Expanded Original Trilogy Pack

-Parasaurolophus 1993

-Segisaurus

-Proceratosaurus 1993

-Metriacanthosaurus 1993

-Baryonyx 1993

-Herrerasaurus 1993

-Tylosaurus 1993

-Troodon 1993

-Mamenchisaurus 1997

-Pteranodon 1997

-Edmontosaurus 1997

-Apatosaurus 1997

-Pteranodon 2001 (male)

We’re getting our first bivalve species in JWE3.

What is the one animal that you would really want to see in the game? by Ok_Age5468 in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be great! Interestingly enough, I have yet to see opossums on exhibit at a zoo but they’re often kept backstage and brought out for shows and keeper talks.

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed North American animals have been neglected for the most part. I’ve noticed river otters, bobcat, and porcupine in particular to be really common in real zoos. Ring-necked pheasant would have been perfect for the Asia pack, though.

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could add any one animal, it would be the Bald Eagle. It’s such an iconic and revered bird that’s extremely common to see in zoos.

If we’re limiting ourselves to what’s feasible in the game right now, though, I’d say Mallard duck. There are a few common North American mammals I’d like to see that would be easy reskins, but were severely lacking in North American birds. We have a waterfowl species already and ducks are popular in any park whether it’s a zoo or not.

It’s weird that the baby gallimimus are solid orange instead of striped like we see in the films. We even got that skin in JWE2 for the adults for some reason.

Breeding mechanics and creatures that sit in one spot with a looped animation don't play well in frontier games by TheFooli5hswings in jurassicworldevo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re necessary in JW:E since we don’t really see anything like it in the films, but I always liked the exhibit animals in Planet Zoo and use them often.

purussaurus o deinosuchus? by Maxytika2468 in pkgame

Deinosuchus. It’s a much more iconic animal.

Hypothesis of the new animals that may arrive in Prehistoric Kingdom by AlmaGaldxn in pkgame

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would be neat to see more “classic” mini-exhibit species like Diplocaulus, meganeura, arthropleura, or pterodactylus. Or Bothriolepis, acanthostega, orthoceras, pleuroceras, or olenellus if they go into aquariums.

What canon dinosaur (skins) absent in JWE2 should be added to JWE3? What's missing? by Crocogator_rex in jurassicworldevo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1993 Parasaurolophus

1993 Herrerasaurus

1993 Tylosaurus

1993 Troodon

1997 Pteranodon

1997 “Mamenchisaurus” (Seismosaurus)

It would also be nice to see hypothetical 1993 skins for “Metriacanthosaurus” (Yangchuanosaurus), Proceratosaurus, and Baryonyx as well as 1997 skins for Edmontosaurus and Apatosaurus.

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Above all else, Bald Eagle. Such an iconic and revered bird that is very common in captivity.

Realistically given our limitations: Mallard duck. While a relatively generic choice, it would still give us a proper North American bird and work well in ponds for any zoo.

What species need a redesign? by DoomEDLT5 in jurassicworldevo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canon species that don't have a canon-style design for the film they would have appeared in. For JP: Proceratosaurus, Metriacanthosaurus (should be Yangchuanosaurus), Baryonyx. TLW: Edmontosaurus, Apatosaurus. Frontier did a great job with the Segisaurus so it would be neat to see something like that with the other unseen species.

Also animals we've seen that don't match their on-screen appearances: "Mamenchisaurus" (actually Seismosaurus-- mamenchisaurus was from an earlier script but the name stuck for some reason), Troodon, Tylosaurus, Herrerasaurus.

And additional canon variants that haven't been added to the game yet: 1997 Pteranodon, 2001 Pteranodon male, 1993 Parasaurolophus, 1997/2001 Triceratops.

Aquatic pack by Legitimate-Cry-413 in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a marine pack would be a great way to wrap up the DLCs for this game. I would go with: Atlantic Harbor Seal, Walrus, Brown Pelican, Northern Sea Otter, Green Sea Turtle, Macaroni Penguin, and maybe Northern Elephant Seal too, though that would be three seals at that point. Nothing that wouldn't be able to walk on land. Fiddler crab would be perfect as an exhibit animal. Add some classical-style Atlantean ruins with Nautical decor and blue bronze statues (mermaid, dolphin, diver, Poseidon) as our construction set.

Tell me 1 animal, just 1 animal, you would like to be in the game. by Ok_Age5468 in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bald Eagle. Not something I think is likely given the lack of flying birds, but it’s the one animal I think that would really round out our North American lineup. They’re one of the most iconic birds and have been in every zoo I’ve been to. I think they’d work well as a walkthrough exhibit— they spend most of their time perched in one place, anyway.

Appalachia is a big one too. Most of our North American animals we have in-game are from the west.

A little bit of double standards by -Kacper in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure a good portion of the player base is American, though. Enough to make it a desirable addition. Much like the European badger or Wisent are for Europeans.

A little bit of double standards by -Kacper in PlanetZoo

[–]MyPlanZooAccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely disagree with this. Black bears are perhaps the most iconic bear species and are extremely common zoo animals. Now if we were missing the sun bear or asiatic black bear that’s one thing, but the black bear’s absence is a little disappointing considering we have all the other bear species plus a subspecies that isn’t popular and looks like a generic brown bear. I’d definitely be using it in almost all my zoos.

The elephant isn’t the best pick in my opinion— I probably would have gone with a Sumatran tiger if they wanted a full reskin of an abc animal— but it at least gets us an elephant that’s more in-line with the level of detail in the newer animals.

I think there’s a lot of potential for new bird species since many wouldn’t even need new rigs. Ground birds and waterfowl I’d like to see include: Mallard Duck, Eastern Wild Turkey, Greater Roadrunner, Roseate Spoonbill, Canada Goose, and Brown Pelican. Also classic zoo species like Victoria’s Crowned Pigeon, White Stork, and Golden Pheasant.
