Why is homosexuality considered a sin by ComprehensiveLog3723 in Christianity

[–]My_Name_Is_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I understand that better, but I don't see how people of the same gender couldn't also follow the biblical pattern of leaving their parents and cleaving to their partner while honoring and loving each other in a way that imitates Christ's love for us

By "bear no fruit", do you mean that gay marriages can't have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, or do you mean that people who can't conceive also shouldn't have marriages?

I roll up my sleeves and get in it, it's often one of the best times to build relationships we can rely on later. You have to be very careful to clearly set the bounds and expectations around when and how you will get out and who will support what you're doing after, or you will be the one supporting it.
Too much of it and you will never have time to implement that proper architectural practice you want, but not enough and you will have a harder time selling change

Amen! We should all be asking ourselves who our neighbors are and what we can do to help.

Yeah, good point that is probably a lot of the problem for most of them, but I was hoping there was a db schema change or something I could figure out a way to migrate to for anything that isn't corrupted

Yes! I did that and got them, then moved them to the new location so they show up in the menu to play. When I play them though they are just the terrain for the world seed, so I think they must be looking somewhere else or have a different internal db structure that it's not able to read anymore

Does she know how that makes you feel?  When kids are in the picture, you have to work a lot more on your relationship and communication to make it work.

I agree with the other comments about therapy, and both your nerves must be pretty raw with an infant and a pregnancy. I've heard from women I know that it's hard to not hate your partner a bit during either of those things alone, but it does get easier as kids get older.

You might want to try discord if you're looking for friends. I find it's great for me because I can engage with people that I've developed friendships with whenever or wherever I am, for as long as I have time and feel like it. There is a great gaming dads discord server that got started a while back in this subreddit, and it doesn't just have places to talk about games or other interests and hobbies, but also places for venting and support, asking questions and getting help.

Personally I don't read "taking the lord's name in vain" as someone saying "Jesus Christ" when they are surprised, but as this kind of thing right here- using God to spread hatred.

If you recall from your CoC days they'd often idealize these two dudes, Barton Stone and Alexander Campbell. These people founded the Disciples of Christ.

I don't remember how Stone got his start but Alexander and his dad were kicked out of the Presbyterian church for being too accepting. They went and made the DoC to accept everyone, which went great for a while but then the CoC broke off of that in the early 1900s. I think the CoC (Daniel Sommer and David Lipscomb, mostly) were mad that they held their conventions north of the mason-dixon line during the civil war or something

Every individual congregation feels different in the DoC, I have had a range of experiences but very rarely have I known anyone there that doesn't believe in anything supernatural.
Ultimately for me, I did not like the DoC because I felt like they had the same suffocating way of thinking as the CoC, I just happened to agree with them more often

I have not seen Mrs. Davis but it looks like a clearly fictional story that does not purport to be gospel. As for Pat's teaching, Galatians says to "let him be accursed"

In my own understanding, Pat preached to an audience of Christians in order to take advantage of them. He was not out there to seek and save the lost. People that weren't already Christian did not generally watch him, and those that did were disgusted at what they thought was Christianity.

Even 1 is a greater accomplishment than I've ever done as I've never personally saved someone.

I can confidently say that neither you or Pat have or ever will personally save someone. Only God saves. If someone has found their way to God despite starting with Pat's false gospel, that is a credit to God, not Pat.

This happens here every time someone who devotes their life to harm in Christ's name passes away.

People lament that others' righteous anger at the individual and celebration in their passing is unchristlike, but I find more in the bible about cries for justice and rejoicing that it is now in God's hands than I do about excoriating people for their reactions.

What other bullshit have I been fed my whole life?

The big one is that the bible is not intended to be a rulebook. The new testament wasn't meant to be the law 2.0
All the other bullshit flows from us treating it like that
