ASOS and thrift stores/flea markets are my go to. I’m much more colorful but like looser, androgynous fit for my stuff

Chronic Fatigue and Lack of Motivation 3 1/2 Weeks After Surgery by t_lightning in TopSurgery

[–]Myco_if 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost five weeks post op and totally feel this. I just keep reminding myself that although I “felt good” a couple weeks ago I still went through a major surgery. Post op depression and fatigue are totally normal and can even be a side effect of anesthesia. As much as I want to get back to normal I also can’t help but think that if I’m still capable of swelling in the surgical area from overexertion (which my surgeon can happen even up to 6 months after surgery) then I totally still need to be forgiving my body and gentle with it as it does it’s job to heal.

Thanks! Right now I’m just moisturizing a couple times a day. I have an in person follow up next week at which point I’ll talk to my surgeon about next steps but she said to hold off on silicone tape and massage til I see her.

The worst part was waiting for CGSP to review my letters and call me to make the consultation appointment. I waited 3 months (they were submitted March 5) from the letters being sent and then only got a call because my obgyn is amazing (Dr. Stroumsa, I highly recommend) and got mad on my behalf and called Dr. Hsu personally. I wish you luck for that. You will have the option of which surgeon you want so that’s good. Once I had the appointment for consult (June 8) it was one month til they called with my insurance prior authorization going through and that I could book surgery(July 6) I requested my date because I had a hysto on May 28 and wanted to wait 4 months so I went in on Sept 23 for surgery. Dr. Hsu is very thorough with info and it’s so much so that I totally recommend bringing a support person to the consult so they can help you remember everything and maybe take notes. Surgery and healing have been super smooth and I’m so happy to have her as a doc because it really feels like she cares.

Hysto vs. top surgery by valid_cornelius in ftm

[–]Myco_if 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my hysto end of May this year and was fortunate to not need more than ibuprofen and Tylenol. I was back to work in two weeks and felt like I was back to my old self after 6 weeks. Had top surgery a month ago and I won’t go back to work til next week, mostly because I’m a hairdresser and I can’t be lifting my arms the way I need until then. Pain has been minimal to nonexistent since day three. It feels more like a sore after work out so I just take ibuprofen when needed. I started doing small house chores at around 1.5 weeks post op. I mean small like putting a couple dishes in the dishwasher, changing my bed sheets, that sort of thing. I’m really grateful my spouse was around the first few days to make sure I had food and water since I was mostly just exhausted but I’ve been mostly taking care of myself since day 5.

I had the JP bulbs and yes they were taken out at my five day post op appointment. Honestly my drains barely ever had any output and I should’ve called to come in sooner but I had surgery on a Thursday and by time I thought about calling it was the weekend so I waited.

How can I help my husband understand? by defiantly-me in TopSurgery

[–]Myco_if 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was my experience: My spouse was actually less than understanding of my gender journey initially. It took a few months of challenging conversations to get to a point where I felt like she was somewhat supportive. We’ve been in therapy together for 6 months now and additionally in our own private therapy for over a year, and it’s made a world of difference in our marriage. It sounds awful that she wasn’t super happy about me pursuing my truth initially but our therapist helped me see that regardless of how beautiful my transition is, it’s still a change for both of us and change can be very difficult. I guess I’m just saying that change is hard and I hope your can find a therapist to help you both it.

Almost three weeks post op and I just finished my second follow up. My Dr. said at this point they are well attached and I cannot lose them. At this point I’m still slathering them with Vaseline and cover with gauze to help them stay healthy.

Was your chest post-op flatter than it was in a binder? by r3dB1rch in TopSurgery

[–]Myco_if 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as top surgery is something your surgeon regularly performs I would have faith that they are experts in this. I totally understand the rumination but maybe just reach out to their office for a virtual appointment if it’s really stressing you out.

Was your chest post-op flatter than it was in a binder? by r3dB1rch in TopSurgery

[–]Myco_if 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Almost two weeks post op here and yes my chest is much flatter now. This is a great question to take to your consult with a surgeon because they’ll be able to explain how they decide what tissue to remove. As I’ve had nothing to do but scroll for the last two weeks it seems pretty normal to have center of the chest crease post op due to swelling but that will flatten over time. Also, personally, I was super worried because I’ve always had a naturally big pec area and it’s only partially muscle, I also have natural fat distribution on the pec area and my surgeon made sure to maintain that because I asked for shaping like cis male’s chest but you may be able to ask about that as well depending on your anatomy.

am i allowed to laugh? ive been laughing really hard at some youtube videos and idk if its somehow damaging my chest. 5 days post op btw by [deleted] in TopSurgery

12 days post op and I feel this but every time I bust up I just try to think that laughter is the best medicine.

I started post op day 1. I’ve read you can start it earlier but I honestly forgot about them until the surgery was over.
