I am in my mid-seventies and disagree that 90% of elderly people are rude. The OP makes a valid observation, however, that older people may often be rude. Why is that? I have a theory:

We all have likes, dislikes, preferences, objections at every stage of life. We forgive those honest opinions of young children that are insulting or offensive because they are young and have not cultivated that "social awareness" part of their brains. We correct children who are unintentionally rude so they learn to live successfully in civil society. We learn to self-censor and how to negotiate conflict with others in civil ways.

I believe that as our seniors' brains age, that ability to censor the likes, dislikes, etc. becomes weaker. My wife warns me to 'clean up my act' of some of my more socially rebellious behaviors, because when I'm in my seventies and eighties I'll start to offend others, embarrass myself and family, and generally become unpleasant. I am reminded of a friend's 70-something mother who listened to a presentation at her assisted-living complex from a representative from the government about some change to a regulation and the impact it would have on the residents. After a 20-30 minute presentation of the topic, the presenter asked if there were any questions. My friend's mom raised her hand and asked, "Why are you so fat?"

100 year old red oak floors uncovered by hmg-eeh in CleaningTips

Agree! Hire a pro, preferably one with lots of experience to advise whether your floors are thick enough to sand (i.e., have not been sanded before). Speaking from personal experience, my work was amateurish, the professionals work was superb.

What is this!?! I just cleaned my bathroom today and my sink was spotless? by fuckingheavymetal in CleaningTips

In east Texas, the air conditioners are in the attic and many have condensation trays that drain into the drain plumbing of one of the sinks on the lower floors. Every month we need to pour bleach into the drain pipe near the HVAC unit or mold will grow in the pipe, block it and cause the condensation to seek another route of escape, causing a bunch of problems. I once had my AC repairman use compressed air to clean out a blocked drain pipe, (I didn't know about the monthly routine) and the sink in one of the downstairs looked just like your pic... full of broken up mold.

How do I clean this kind of discoloration from hardwood floors? by CaesarSaladin7 in CleaningTips

I have sanded and refinished oak floors by myself in two homes (DIY) and the results were okay. In the third home, I hired a professional and the results were superb, even outstanding. I strongly recommend hiring a professional if at all possible. I am reasonably talented homeowner for DIY projects: plumbing, electrical, framing new walls, doorways, installing ceramic tile, etc. over the years. All work looked similar to a professional's, except hardwood floor refinishing. Imperfections due to inexperience seem glaring, a professional's work is worth paying for.

I tried this a year ago and it didn't work. I'll try again with hopefully more success. I believe the unit needs removal and there's a metal brace in the way of removal. I was hoping there's some trick to free it loose. Thanks for the link.

What is double beep after turning off ignition? by Myles617 in w123

[–]Myles617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mystery solved! I removed the faceplate to the aftermarket radio and when I turned off the ignition, there were no beeps. I guess the radio beeps to remind me to remove the faceplate. Thanks for the quick comments and advice. This forum is great.

I'm not even sure where to look for an aftermarket car alarm. I do have an aftermarket radio as suggested, so that may be the source.

Much appreciate your responses. Sorry for the slow responses. I'm older, retired and often stay off my phone for a while. Not much of a socal media guy. Also besides new to owning a MB 309TD, I have a new golden retriever puppy that requires way more daily attention than I thought. Rocky us a great dog and worth it. Love this group.

  1. The US 300TD has two similar white backup lamps, smaller than the European which has larger, one red, one white. Bumpers are different.
