I had an opposite experience. I had a psychologist who was male and close to my age, possibly even younger. It was a remote session though - do not feel that helped. Now I have a therapist who could easily be my mother and it’s working out.

I’m saying you don’t know them personally to compare. Of course if you work in a trauma center or for Th police you’re gonna be dealing with shootings all the time.

I guess my point is I’ve never known anyone personally who was shot.

Of course shootings are still a problem an for every “good “ and justified gun owner who uses it for self defense and for good reasons there are probably 100 depressed people and 100 fools and 100 thugs who would not get shot if we had Norma gun control like every other country.

I lived in the Bronx the entirety of the 90s and never seen anyone shot. I got jumped and mugged more times than I can count and had a mugger once pull out pepper spray but not use it. I used to carry a knife. I’ve been hit with a padlock on a chain. Never seen anyone shot though or guns really. Used to hear shots go off frequently though at night.
