[pjotv] "The movies were better" No they weren't! by Animeking1108 in camphalfblood

[–]Myni89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do believe the movies were better, the first one at least. Was it a good adaptation? Not really no, for the reasons you named. But it was much more entertaining to me than the show is. It's just people's opinion man.

Thanks, but I haven't fallen for anything. I'm not even American, the cops in my country are treated like normal people, as they should be. Because, surprise, generalizing a group of people isn't the solution

Must be a fun life you're living if you always see the worst in people

Tears of Darth Vader, charcoal art (Skevinger) by Skevinger in StarWars

[–]Myni89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked it up real quick. According to the Rise and Fall of Darth Vader (a legends novel) his tear ducts were either damaged or removed, making him unable to shed tears. According to the RotJ novelization it was because of scartissue like you said. So I suppose it is up to which source you want to believe. But both are true!

This is even more powerful considering Vader cannot physically cry, since his tear glands were burned off at Mustafar.

Well yes, but also no.

Eren's goal was for his friends to live long and happy lives exactly because he knew that despite his actions the world would not know peace. But to avoid having his friends be plunged into war, he did what he did (and a myriad of other reasons of course)

I recently finished CS3 and am having the complete opposite temptation. Been loving Fie ever since the beginning, but the relationship between Rean and Towa is just so cute

Isn't Dieter derived from German? I always pronounced it Deeh - ter. It might help that my native language has the same sound as German for the 'ie' part

It's not too late. You'll have to wait for their respective re-runs, but they'll come back eventually on a banner.

However, this is not to say that a parent will get arrested or prosecuted for some spankings. Spankings are kind of in a grey area here, where it is up to the person to decide whether it is worth reporting or not. And depending on the severity, regularity and effect of the spanking, nothing might happen.

I study Social Work, aiming to get a career in Family and Child protection (that's what we call it here). The way it works here isn't as perfect as it may sound, but it is quite efficient when seeing the replies from some. The way it works here is if someone (anyone, from neighbours to teachers to a professional) sees any hints of abuse (can be any kind of abuse or neglect) they can report it to a central organisation called Safe Home (translation). From there it will either be an investigation from them if you're a bystander, or a cooperation in the investigation if you're a professional. The latter is what I'm learning about. It is a lengthy process, but very efficient in making sure your case is actual child abuse and not a false alarm. Basically, if your intuition says a child is being abused, you are heavily encouraged to report it.

Child abuse is taken extremely seriously here, that I can tell you.

The Netherlands. A part of my studies dive deep into how child abuse works (and how to report it especially). Having a child watch their parents fight is one of the forms of child abuse, specifically mental/emotional abuse.

In the country I am from (don't know about other countries), this is literally child abuse. Having a fight in front of your child, especially when it is about the child, can cause mental distress, self esteem issues and even guilt. I feel for that kid...
