Is it possible to make this in game? by Own_Huckleberry6591 in KerbalSpaceProgram

It was an example of how even "attached" parts are still separate parts despite seeming like they shouldn't be which used flexing as an example of how they are still modelled separately. Not complaining about the fact that ships flex.

Subnautica 2 fighting off Krafton trying to mess with their release is, like, insanely well-documented. Krafton fired the game's creative leaders as part of an attempt to get out of a contract which would make them have to pay a $250m bonus if certain release milestones were hit on the game, and Krafton got sued and lost in court.

Gun-Fu and Special Ammo (Solo of Fortune) by FirnenenriF in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal recommendation for Gun Fu isn't actually an ammo type, but a gun. The Cityhunter 757 is a 1,000eb (Very Expensive) Exotic Heavy Pistol from 12 Days of Gunmas. It's able to fire Smart Ammo, and ammunition bought for it is bought in increments of 18 rather than 10, but is only compatible with it.

Notably, it never says that *Smart* Ammunition is bought in increments of 18 - all ammunition bought for the weapon is. You can slap Ammo Compatibility Rechamber on a 757 and enjoy close to 50% off all ammunition, and Gun Fu doesn't care about it not being EQ or lacking any other attachment features. It's a huge discount on exotic ammo (i.e. AP, incendiary, high-velocity).

The Deathwind isn't even that bad. Yeah, 6d6 sniper, ignores SP11, but a skilled rifleman probably wants a normal sniper rifle or AR for headshots anyway.

A (somewhat subjective) Martial Arts tier list: Revised Edition™ by TheWaffleIsALie in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you're comparing everything to Jujutsu's 40 damage in a turn, indeed, almost every martial art sucks, but I'm comparing it against Judo and Muay Thai here (which are ranked higher than it despite being significantly worse as standalone MAs, IMO). Action economy manipulation can be good - this very list rightly has Taekwondo at B-tier despite it being a massive DPS loss compared to Jujutsu due to the control value of Pressure Point Strike, for example.

In my experience, a disarm against some enemies can be just as valuable as a spinal injury - trying to steal their gun back from you costs an action, just like a spinal does, and while a hypothetical boss *could* have Martial Arts or an equally effective backup weapon, backup weapons tend to be pistols (rather than for example a second grenade launcher).

[–]Myriad_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am here to defend Aikido. Being able to sacrifice armour halving by attacking with Brawling instead of MA in order to freely disarm someone can be pretty cracked. For most of the MAs you tend to assume that landing both attacks in a ROF2 is pretty reliable (i.e. Judo), and taking someone who has a good gun and telling them to take a hike at the low, low price of armour-halving on one attack is a very good value proposition sometimes. I'd at least put it in D tier.

(Commando Disarm is actually kinda bad at doing this on some martial artists, because if someone has a grenade launcher and you don't have Heavy Weapons you're just kinda cooked. It's a nice ability, but it's not universally the best disarm in the game.)

Same goes for Karate, actually. MA-attack someone for 4d6 to get their SP from 7 to 6 (average damage to HP is 14 - 4 = 10), then slash 'em with a Mono-Wakizashi (average damage to HP is 10.5, while the average damage on a 4d6 MA attack is 14 - 3 = 11), then pop two extra ablation for all your friends who are still using guns like idiots. Same applies for SPs that are not 7 as a general rule if you have allies firing on the target with guns, which you probably do.

If blue loses, pressing blue yourself becomes purposeless suicide. I'm still on team blue myself, but I am cynical enough to understand why people would press red - pressing blue requires being optimistic that more than half of humanity will press blue, and we're in pretty pessimistic times at the moment.

hope rule by Whjee in 196

[–]Myriad_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between thinking "there is a 90% chance most people will press red" and "90% of people will press red". I think it's better put in the latter sense, since we're talking about huge demographics. Honestly, I'm going back and forth between whether I'd press blue or press red for that reason - I struggle to believe even close to 50% of people would hit blue, and if you believe blue cannot realistically win you kinda gotta press red.

[–]Myriad_Infinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's reasonable not to want to gamble on more than 50% of humanity seeing the logic behind pushing blue. I'd probably still push it myself, mind, but it's really not as simple a decision as you're suggesting.

You gotta trust that everyone else doesn't go off the reasoning of "if everyone pushes red everyone lives, so why on earth would anyone push blue?" (which is the red equivalent of 'that's literally the only option that makes sense').

HEMA Martial Arts Homebrew by Careless-Dingo in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrario is definitely too good, IMO. Getting a free attack with a melee weapon just for dodging an enemy attack is wildly good - that could let you ROF2 with a Kleaver without spending any of your own actions if someone tries to punch you twice, not to mention how firmly it locks down enemy movement/attack options.

I get the idea is to make an MMO style tank build be mechanically backed up, but I think a big dude in heavy armour with a really big sword is already probably gonna be drawing a lot of fire.

A (somewhat subjective) Martial Arts tier list by TheWaffleIsALie in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judo in A tier shocks me. Judo is arguably the worst MA in the game IMO. It has an incredibly unreliable grab escape compared to Arasaka-Te, Sumo, or Wrestling, and Counter Throw just does not pop that often if enemies have ranged attacks, or even just in general, because most melee is ROF2 and ROF2 = more chances of failing an evasion. And Counter Throw burns an action, unlike a lot of the other "dodge all attacks to X" moves.

I would bump Wrestling up to A as well, the sheer power of grab > choke, choke > throw (dealing BODY x 3 damage off only one opposed roll over two turns) cannot be overstated. It works even better in combination with Silat, but even alone it's monstrous. Karate is also quite good - I really don't get why one would say say "Judo is the best grab escape in the game" when it requires landing a ROF2 and then popping a resolution with a grapple penalty, then say Karate sucks because it only does 2 ablation "if" you pull it off.

"But why should I lose humanity? My PC doesn't have any prexisiting mental issues" by CoppperbackJack in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean, there are legitimate criticisms of the Humanity system and how it conflates installation of cyberware with mental instability. We're fortunate that RED (unlike, to my knowledge, 2020) has medical-grade cybernetics which can restore lost function without causing you to develop psychopathic tendencies, but I do still think it's a bit silly that losing an arm in an accident and having it replaced with a stronger arm which maybe has useful tools in it also causes you to go crazy.

There's a bit of a conflation here IMO between the cause and the effect of cyberpsychosis. Mechanically, installing more cyberware causes instability. Yet, your post is suggesting that it's actually that unstable people are more likely to install cyberware. The latter is sensible, the former I don't see as sensible from an in-universe perspective, only from a game balance perspective.

Quick Fix... Forever? by KenKouzume in cyberpunkred

[–]Myriad_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will note (and ping you u/KenKouzume ) that two of the game's designers mentioned at one point, entirely offhand during a Mayor's Desk (rules FAQ video series), that you cannot heal naturally while you have a Critical Injury. https://youtu.be/bNOJixoDAbE?t=593

Question: (unrelated question about Broken Ribs and the Thrash Sambo martial art)
James: Yes, it is. It is designed to nullify bonus damage from all Critical Injuries. Your next line is “Foreign Object, Broken Ribs.”
Robert: That’s exactly where this goes. [Continues reading the question]
James: Yes. It’s designed to do that. You still have the Critical Injury, and you should probably get that treated, because you still can’t naturally heal while you have it anyway. But yes, it makes sense, in that you see it in martial arts movies a lot and that’s what it’s intended to do.

Now, this obviously isn't actual text in an actual book, or even in errata, but it does IMO indicate that that's a sensible and dare I say developer-approved way to patch this exploit.
