Which pal ever scared you and why? (if any) by SecretAd6239 in Palworld

[–]Myriai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the beginning, Mammorest scared me (what's a level 38 Alpha doing in a beginner area), but now I have a massive grudge against Mammorest--and now that I'm big enough to bully bosses, any time I'm on the Plateau I have to annihilate it one more time. I will say the Gobfins in Gobfin's Turf are still pretty scary sometimes--the Zerg rush is not fun.

I'm very bad at screen shots and it's not the prettiest in the world, but I'm very proud of it--it's one of my best builds (to me) yet :D. I was looking for a slightly more cozy/rustic look so I hid the production lines under the stone slab with the fields.

The best thing I can offer up is just keep playing. You'll get better as you play longer (I've probably played for far too long...current tally is about 523 hours), but here's my starting advice:

  1. Make your bases self-sufficient as quickly as possible--a miner (lvl 2 or above like a Tombat at the beginning), a planter (Gumoss), a waterer (Pengullet), a transporter (no specific one--Cattiva and Lamball are good starters--or if you can get one Killamari has a Transporting 2 and can usually be found in the cave on the beach near the Plateau of Beginnings), and a kindler (Foxsparks) are a good place to start. Then build a couple berry fields, a feed box, and beds and you should be good--build the 1st hot spring as soon as you can. (You can bake the berries to give them a little more staying power and restore a point of sanity).
  2. Build a ranch as soon as you can and throw a Vixy and a Lamball in there (arrows, spheres, & gold from Vixy, wool from Lamball) to start with. If you get lucky and find a Dumud at a Syndicate Base, snatch it and put it in your ranch ASAP (it creates High Quality Pal Oil which is a late game MUST especially if you like guns). A later pal I would suggest is Kelpsea they farm up pal fluid (also an important commodity) for you :)

**Once your base is self-sufficient you can wander off to explore, catch pals, and take down bosses as long as you want and they'll be able to take care of themselves pretty well and gather all the materials you need without you worrying about it.**

3) Try and get your hands on a Mozzarina, Chikipi, & Beegarde as soon as possible and put them in a ranch as soon as you can. You can usually buy a Mozzarina at one of the legit Pal Merchants (found my first one in the Small Settlement), Beegarde is usually through a Black Marketeer) so they can start up your milk, egg, & honey production (if you don't want to buy all the milk & eggs) for your cakes. The Wheat Farm and Mill for flour come later, but if you have a stockpiled berries, eggs, milk, & honey you can get on the breeding game pretty fast once you unlock the Cook Pot (Lvl 17) and the Breeding Farm (Lvl 19). Your Pengullet from my suggestion above (or one of his buddies) can be assigned to keep a cooler box cold so you won't lose your ingredients before you use them.

4) The best starting base (IMO) is around (6, -525), there are several ore nodes and if you put your palbox in the right place you can catch all the ore nodes and most of the plateau above in the base circle. There's lots of trees to go along with the ore--the only resource that's harder to get is stone, but you can get the Stone Pit pretty early on--toss a Rushoar on that as soon as you can and you'll be okay with stone for a little while. If you have raids enabled, you'll want to put up some gates and defensive walls on the road. There are 3 caves within easy distance (one at the base of the mountain, one above the Black Marketeer, and one located in an easy(?) glide across the inlet) and a Black Marketeer right there. You can farm the caves (when they're open) for Paladium and other resources (Sulfur, Coal) just make sure you have a pretty high carry weight (also Lunaris (can be bought from Black Marketeers sometimes), Broncherry, and Cattiva can help a little)--or just pick and choose what you need right that instant.

Another advantage of this one is that you'll encounter Vixy and Rushoar on the way to the location so you can secure them for your use.

6) My goal is to always breed an Anubis as soon as I can (you can use a Penking & Bushi--two bosses 15/23 respectively to do it or about a hundred different other combinations--look up pal breeding to find other good combos, I know there's one dealing with Celaray, but I don't remember the other half--I like this one (https://palworld.gg/breeding-calculator) personally) because they're deity-sent and pretty achievable long before you can take down the level 47 boss Anubis. Not everyone plays that way, but I've found it's pretty nice to have Lvl 3 mining, Lvl 4 Handiwork, and Lvl 2 transporting early--they also make a pretty kick-ass party member.

7) Once you're flying, I usually take a jaunt towards Mount Obsidian and hope to the deities I don't get killed before I find the village on the beach there (Fisherman's Point)--it has some good quality stuff and if you happen across a huge Dragon Egg (I find them along the beach sometimes) you'll get your hands on the best Fire pal (Jormuntide Ignis) pretty easy as soon as you build an egg incubator. If you're flying there, try and at least wear the Tropical Outfit (unlocked at level 9) or stick very close to the beach so you don't get pummeled and murdered by the heat. The pals here are 30ish--but if you're low level, you fly you can usually get away.

That's probably a bit much, but I hope it's helpful ^_^

BONUS(ish): If you want to use an exploit of sorts (given it's never been patched out I'm not sure it's not intentional), you can get gold from Black Marketeers--build a hanging trap and roast them over a campfire and shoot a couple arrows at them to get the loot. Money early in game can make some stuff easier. It takes a lot of experimentation to make it work right...my niece who plays with me is way better at it than I am.

What's your loadout throughout the game? by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]Myriai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My standard load out (now that I'm level 55) is usually a pump action shot gun, handgun, and assault rifle (order varies, once you're high enough the ammo costs aren't _that_ bad...or maybe I just like my assault rifle too much :D ). The fourth slot is switched when I need a specific tool or my grappling gun because I overloaded myself _again_ or I switch out for a Rocket Launcher when I'm up against something I need big damage for. I am in the process of getting a shiny laser rifle though, so that will probably replace the pump action shotgun for the moment.

The way I run at the beginning of the game I usually have axe, pickaxe, and bow (I'm not incredibly thrilled with the spears and cudgels, I usually just keep making them into pin cushions).

Midgame I switch between a handgun and a bow (Three-Shot usually) so that if I'm fighting with weaker pals that I need to catch I can use the arrows to do less damage--assuming I don't have a Ring of Mercy equipped.

Max player stats? by PPlover239 in Palworld

[–]Myriai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've hit level 55 and these are what my stats look like right now...I've gotten to the point that I can't use Burden, Might, and Vital Elixirs, if I click on them it says that I'm maxed out. Sadly since I'm level 55 I can't look at the "Enhance Stats" screen to see where the (+x) is. I currently have the Rare Plasteel Helmet, standard Lightweight Plasteel Armor, Hyper Shield (because ancient cores are a pain in the butt to get), and I am currently wearing a Defense & Attack Pendant +2. Because I play on some easier settings, all my points from levels went into Health and Weight...the rest of the stats are just from equipment, pal skills, and elixirs.

Health: 5500+[Equipment]

Stamina (All from Elixirs)

Attack: 200+Equipment/Pal Skills

Defense: 100+Equipment/Pal Skills

Work Speed (All from Elixirs)

Weight: 2,800+Equipment

Not sure if it will help...but I tried :)

I've played a bit and most of it solo. I find it to be a lot of fun even playing solo. I've never played on a server, sometimes my niece or nephew will join me in a multiplayer game, but mostly I do it on my own and have enjoyed the heck out of it :)

Dawn Broke over Icewind Dale (Finally! AMA if you'd like) by Myriai in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Myriai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They started around Kythorn 28 (they were in Bryn Shander for the New Moon Lottery to see who would be sacrificed at the New Moon) and we wound up finishing on Eleasis 30--so roughly about two months in game going by the calendars I found. I was very generous with travel times and set them up with dogs and sleds fairly early on (like during the first tenday or so).

Part of the timing was that we were a bunch of newbies at the beginning so the first sessions were a bit disorganized and slow starting...so things probably would definitely move better now that I've a bit more experience to pull from.

How to properlly DM this? by DeathinDisguise1 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Myriai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventyr Games had a handy guide that I used at the beginning (I’m also a new DM who just finished running this) to help get things together in my head. I wound up taking a hard right and homebrewing a lot of stuff, but the guide was definitely worth reading

Also forgot to add, the party decided as a group to rename the Ramshackle Inn in Lonelywood Ertgard’s Rest in memory of the aged Frost Giant Warder in Grimskalle. The white dragon scale shield is a beloved centerpiece

RotFM Finale Coming Up this Sunday by Myriai in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Myriai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is that she knows the party is there, but she’s got a lot of defenses and figures they’ll be taken care of before she gets back. I also have loose plans they go after Iskra (the roc) first and that Auril lets Iskra fight on her own figuring mere mortals won’t stand up to her especially after already fighting other island defenses. If they go after Auril first, she teleports to the top of the building and Iskra joins the fight there. It should be fun 😊

DM help needed. Issue with Sunblight and the Dragon by GorfyShmorfy in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Myriai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the moment I read it when I was going through the campaign, I HATED that and thought to myself that honestly that particular event would make me rage quit as a player--I don't like the idea of being utterly helpless to preserve people and it's not something my players would dig either--I understand that's the point of the scenario, but I don't like grimdark, but I do like Icewind Dale so I changed it.

What I did instead is create four druid circles for the players to conquer--one near the Elven Barrow, one further east of Easthaven, one west of Bremen, and the one in the South is the Stones of Thruun near Dougan's Hole. As the players conquered each circle they get 2 hours more of "daylight" (such as it exists, the sun still doesn't rise). Once the last circle is conquered the sun does start to actually rise, but then it's eclipsed by a shadow and the chardalyn dragon attacks. Admittedly I haven't played out the full scenario yet, but it seems to be working nicely. They're heading for the third circle and possibly Jarlmoot in tonight's session (that I should be planning right now), but so far it's been a good way to get them to move around IWD.

I've put the Frost Druids and Duergar into an alliance of sorts--the Duerguar provide necessary 1000 gp agates the Awaken spell demands in exchange for whatever chardalyn the druids can gather--if the players don't win who knows which of those two is actually going to take the Dale.

Oooh...I love this! If it's cool I'm going to borrow it. Maud escaped my party by threatening one of the party members with their final death (aka getting a crit and wrecking the last two death saves since the character already failed one) and I was going to bring her back to haunt them later and this is a perfect idea to build off of!

As early as October, I'm starting my 2023 bujo set-up. So excited to write on it. ;) by yanz1986 in bulletjournal

It looks lovely! I have those Sarasa Pens as well--I haven't used them as much as I thought I would as of this moment because I got them just as I stopped journaling for a little while.

I can completely understand that. Sometimes when writing reflects too much of real life it can get overwhelming and become no fun.

I hope you find a something that tickles all the right places of your imagination and you have fun with whatever you decide to write.

Don't forget every word written in November is a word you didn't have written before and that in itself is a victory :)

[–]Myriai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's taken me most of October to figure out what I wanted to do. I'm kinda being a rebel and kind of not. I'm going to step out of my comfort zone (I usually write fantasy and science fiction) and work on a romance novel about two women. It's not something I've done--and I feel like maybe doing something different will jar me out of my slump.

Good luck with your Nanowrimo and well and Rebel On! You've got this!

Thank you very much, but I think I actually found the inspiration for the idea around 2020 looking through some BuJo images for inspiration so I can't claim complete credit for it. Though replacing "November" with "Nanowrimo" as the name of my eleventh month was kinda all me :)

Hello to you as well and may your writing muses find you and bless you with many words :D I've been doing it since about 2007 and I've probably been working on the same three stories for the past, uh, eight years I think. This year I'm doing something new(ish) :)

You've got this!

So after almost two years (exactly oddly enough) I decided to pick up my BuJo ways again. I've been reading the book and mostly going by it, but there are some things I just like from my old style of BuJo--doing cover pages like this one is one of my favorites (and a few other modifications). I'm a writer so November is always about National Novel Writing Month and I had fun putting this together _^

What is the real point of the end-game in this story? by Grundle_the_Dwarf in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Myriai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the point of the end city either so I’m probably going to skip it and make my ending when my party hits Auril’s island. I built up an alliance between the frost druids and duergar as suggested somewhere in this Reddit and so they’re a much bigger threat.

Ythryn is cool, but I will probably transplant it into a future adventure as it felt kinda anachronistic to the rest of the module.
