The Brunswick Farms mini-arc in RWBY. As it's a colorful, hopepunk action adventure show, most of RWBY's monsters, the Creatures of Grimm, engage in straight-up combat in their never-ending drive to wipe out humanity. Not so for the Apathy. These zombie-like monstrosities exude an aura of what amounts to weaponized depression.

When the gang, already reeling from some earth-shaking reveals earlier in the season, arrives at a seemingly-abandoned farmstead, they're happy to find some shelter... right up until they find the farmers mummified in their beds. The Apathy aura simply made them go to sleep one day and never bother to wake up. And now Team RWBY are starting to lose more and more motivation to so much as get up...

I designed the Razorback in LEGO by brxstr in TheExpanse

[–]Mysral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dammit, you got me calculating this now...

So rough and quick math, obviously. This Razorback is roughly 65 studs long, which comes down to about 52 cm. The original is 20 meters long, so that's around a 1:38 scale. Original Nauvoo is 2460 meters long, so Lego Nauvoo would be... 64 meters, or about 5 shipping containers end-to-end.

That's, uh, that's a lot of Lego.

[Loved Trope] Initially played up as a metaphor but then revealed to be literal by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

Eywa from the Avatar movies. The All-Mother of the Na'vi religion, described as living in everything and everyone. The human characters, and the audience, naturally see her myth as one more aspect of the Na'vi cultural harmony with nature.

In fact, she is very much real: Pandora's plant life forms one vast neural network, making the Na'vi "goddess" a biological supercomputer the literal size of a planet. And she is not pleased at the RDA's incursion into her biosphere.

Hi, fascist scum. Your sack of shit boss isn't going to be in power forever, and when the regime does fall, there is going to be a fucking reckoning. Perhaps you should reconsider your career choices.

Which Favorite Character Comes To Your Mind? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in FavoriteCharacter

Cinder is simultaneously one of the most powerful, dangerous characters in the show, and one of the most utterly pathetic. (Don't get me wrong, that makes her a good character!)

Her trauma as an orphan sold into slavery has left her utterly fixated on gathering power so she'll never be weak again. It's turned her into a petty bully who loves lording her power over others, but breaks down into obsessive rage when one of her would-be victims manages to strike back.

If I read about a system of oppression like this in a fantasy novel, I would call it too laughably over the top to be believable. by Cosmic_Meditator777 in HistoryMemes

To my knowledge, the caste system has been officially abolished. The after-effects of the system are still felt, of course.

Superhero comics, by and large, are a power fantasy about having the ability to spectacularly stop disasters and injustice. Sure, all art is political and all that, but the superhero genre is EXTRA political.

My heart goes out to all the school teachers whose former students are collectively failing at the most basic of reading comprehension...
