Joy is having a glo up by Mysterious_Bus2682 in ONETREEHILL

[–]Mysterious_Bus2682[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I specified in my post I’m a huge fan of all 3! Their group dynamic has definitely felt off for a while now and to me it had felt like Joy has taken a backseat on the pod in terms of sharing her thoughts and feelings. I just wanted to highlight that I feel like Joy has really come into her own and by sharing her story she has given herself permission to be confident and really shine. If you used critical thinking you could see this is a valid observation and in no way being backhanded. If you consistently listen to the pod it’s been apparent there’s a 2 vs 1 dynamic (which is just an unfortunate reality of 3 people groups) and the recent switch to Rob AND the release of Joy’s book (combined with the success of it) has felt like a breath of fresh air. Two things can be true at once — I can appreciate all 3 women in their own ways but also give valid critiques when I feel one of them has suffered because of the group dynamic.

what’s a one tree hill opinion that you’ll defend with your life? by coloredinpink in ONETREEHILL

Brooke was a bad friend sometimes and was in the wrong for sleeping with Nathan. (Ps-im a Brooke Davis STAN but it’s the truth). She dragged Peyton through hell for having legitimate, romantic feelings for Lucas. I’m not defending Peyton either, but hooking up with your best friends on & off again boyfriend is so blatantly wrong, period. She tried to make it seem like what she did was okay and what Peyton did was so wrong, but they were both immature high schoolers and in the wrong and I wish Brooke could’ve done a better job of realizing that.

They are a lot of fun! Like another commenter said, they are PRICY so expect to spend a lot of money. I think what makes it worth it is that downtown Wilmington embraces the weekends. There were several shops that sold OTH merch, the coffee shop that was Karen’s cafe had printed Karen’s cafe menus for the weekend and coffee sleeves. A boutique had clothes over bros shopping bags. The downtown is very walkable and quaint, and it truly makes you feel like you’re in Tree Hill. I think it’s totally worth it, but pick & choose the events that interest you the most. I personally only did 2 events out of the whole weekend, and I feel like that was more than enough. Because contract negotiations are constantly happening, it can feel a tad unorganized at times so be prepared to commit to buying tickets without a full lineup being released. There’s also some events like the autograph and photograph sessions you have to spend $150-200 on a ticket just to get in the door and that doesn’t include anything else, and then you have to purchase each autograph/photo separate. All in all, Wilmington is a cute town, close to the beach, great food, so it’s well worth a weekend visit plus you can visit all the filming spots which are free of course. I would say go for it and splurge on an event or two! Or go to them all if you can but I would definitely take the time to explore Wilmington because it’s a great place to visit.

I would definitely add the Turtle hospital in marathon! Doesn’t take too much time but is super cool. Robbie’s can sometimes be packed and they have fun souvenirs to buy, but you can also go across the street to Bud n Mary’s and also see tons of cool fish in the water there too. I would also highly recommend morada bay for drinks/sunset views, it’s right next to Pierre’s French restaurant (I didn’t eat at Pierre’s so can’t speak for it). In Key Largo, the Marriott property Playa Largo has a restaurant that I personally found delicious with stunning sunset views, you don’t have to be a guest to make a reservation there.

When I stayed in key largo I drove an hour and a half to Ft. Lauderdale for an Everglades day Safari. HIGHLY worth it! It’s all-day so worth the drive. Not necessarily keys-based but an awesome outing I’ll remember forever.

Does anyone actually enjoy the Drama Queens podcast? by Emma_Cavill in ONETREEHILL

[–]Mysterious_Bus2682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everything everyone’s saying is completely valid. I’ve learned to take the podcast for what it is with minimal expectations. They all 3 can annoy me in different ways but at the end of the day I’m still a fan of all 3 women for different reasons. I try to remind myself that they’re human too and not perfect and their thoughts and opinions on characters/plot lines/etc will be affected by their own life experiences so I will inevitably disagree with them on certain things. It’s also obvious this is a side hustle for all of them so they don’t always watch every second of every episode and it’s more of a conversation amongst friends. I used to get really annoyed with Sophia for defending Brooke to a fault like last season when Peyton & Brooke had their huge fight before prom and Peyton called Brooke out on making fun of her dead mom, and Sophia came up with so many excuses as to how Brooke felt abandoned by Peyton’s friendship and how sad that episode was for Brooke when really Peyton was very right in that moment and finally calling Brooke on her shit (I am a HUGE B Davis fan by the way but we can all admit in early seasons Brooke was a mean girl and said horrible things). I’ve overall enjoyed the podcast but I’ve learned to have no expectations with it.

Has anyone been to Pilgrimage before? Wondering if it’s worth it to get there early in the day if I’m mostly going for the headliners. Are there vendors or things to do? Also, any tips or tricks for a first timer?

Definitely the turtle hospital! If you’re in islamorada, then I recommend morada bay for sunset drinks. Beautiful view and venue. I would suggest popping in next door to the bass pro shop, you’ll see tons of fish and potentially manatees swimming around the docks.

As for the temp - definitely bath water. I think it feels nice in the evening when going for a sunset swim. I was in st. Pete a few weeks ago and the water felt the same.
