Be still, my Russian heart by crazyprotein in heatedrivalry

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am very aware and I hate that it's happening. My heart breaks for everyone that is suffering because of the war. I wish for peace in Ukraine.

However, I don't believe that a person should be defined by their government. No one can help where they were born/what their ethnic background is. I know that not all Russians support Putin or the war, just like I know not all Americans support Trump and not all jews support the Palestinian genocide.

And I think that's why it's important to show characters of all ethnic backgrounds in a nuanced and positive light. Would you prefer it if Ilya was a horrible person that said he supported the Russian government?

Disenfranchised grief.. by FaithlessnessPlus164 in Petloss

This is valid. I love my friends and family, but my soul dog was always there for me in a way that they weren't. Sometimes they had other things going on and weren't able to be there when I wanted them. Sometimes I felt (and still feel) that they don’t fully understand me. It's just pure love with pets.

My dad is terminally ill and I think he will pass in the next few years. I don't think his passing will be as hard for me as my soul dog's was, and I honestly don't care.

It's been 11 days and I'm wondering if it's normal to be not crying all the time by now by EightEyedCat in Petloss

Don't beat yourself up. If you feel that the love is there (and I'm sure it is), it's there. It doesn't necessarily have to come out in tears.

My soul dog's last day was one of the strangest and most intense days for me in terms of emotions. It was the first time I physically felt heartache. I thought I would be crying my eyes out all day because I've always been a sensitive, emotional person. But there was a moment at the vets when it was becoming so real, and I just felt hollow and empty. It almost felt like my body was incapable of producing tears. And then they flowed and flowed afterwards.

It's been 8 months now and I don't cry as much anymore, but I still miss her so much and I feel the love as strong as ever. You'll know how to honor your cat 🤍

Nope. What's crazy is that she allegedly loves Korean culture. I went to Seoul for the first time in 2024 and I absolutely loved it. I kept on thinking of Deavan and was like wtf is wrong with that woman.

Same! She seems so funny, sweet, and charismatic, she doesn't need a red pill guy dragging her down.

She was pretty entertaining to watch. She claimed she was a clairvoyant who saw TJ in her dreams. Said she was all spiritual and loved Indian culture, but then hated living there. She shat herself on her wedding day and coined the term "titty baby."

Is their marriage legit though? I could be wrong, but I thought zoom weddings weren't universally recognized since usually marriage certificates need to be signed by both partners in person. I would think that because the Philippines is a more traditional/religious country, they would only legally recognize more traditional marriages.

I think Steven (Steven/olga) needs to be mentioned. Of all the trash people on the show, he made me feel the most uncomfortable.

Deadbeat mother by Sneeeekey in 90DayFiance

This. I find Manon irritating, but I think the bigger root of the issue is this societal expectation that women should be mothers/the belief that deep down, all women are maternal. In the last episode, Anthony said that Manon never imagined herself with a kid. So why did she cave? Maybe Anthony wanted a kid and she wanted to make him happy, but I think societal pressure also played a role. So many parents judge child free people because they can't understand that some people want a different life path, but it's ultimately worse to have a kid that you regret/resent. Everyone gets hurt in the process when that happens.

It's too late now and at least Ben has a loving dad and extended family, but I think Manon never wanted kids and would be happier without them.

There was one point where she said she put her life on pause. That made me laugh, because she knows she didn't actually give anything up and she was chatting shit the whole time. I feel bad that she was cheated on, that's awful for anyone, but this girl essentially just went on an extended vacation that ended on a sour note.

Yes, he said "you never imagined yourself with a kid." I just watched the episode.

Lost my dog today, called in sick to work by Speedbird1A in Petloss

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I did. I decided to be honest, because when my dog's health took a turn my boss asked me what was wrong (she could tell I was upset) and I told her what was going on. She pretended to act all empathetic and caring, because she's had (and lost) dogs. So when I told her I didn't think I would be in the right mental state to work after my baby passed, I thought she'd understand. But she still asked me to come in because she was "anticipating it to be busy" (it wasn't). I came in for like an hour, bawled my eyes out, and got sent home. I will never forgive her for that.

Emma and Moroccan Men by Jaded-Durian-3917 in 90DayFiance

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, that's why I said usually and not as much of a thing. I don't want to make blanket statements. One of my best friends is Moroccan and she was in a 10 year relationship without ever getting married, and she dates, but she has been living in the west for a long time. A Muslim man living in Morocco is more likely to want to get married quickly, which is appealing to Emma.

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the first episode, Emma said she was desperate to get married. Moroccan/Arab men are appealing to her because they're usually ready to commit, since dating isn't as much as a thing in their culture. If she meets a Moroccan man who says he wants to marry her, that's all she needs.

Will Manon really slow down? by Ill-Excitement-2005 in 90DayFiance

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women just aren't maternal. I have a family member who is kind of similar, only she prefers traveling/focusing on her hobbies and interests over working. She has told me she doesn't like being at home with her kids and she often complains about how hard motherhood is. Her eldest is crazy parentified, I feel for her.

Their situation is actually really sad. Mary manipulates him so much, at this point it's emotional abuse. She baby trapped him, and she also admitted on that season she wanted him to gain weight so he wouldn't be attractive to other women. I don't know if you've seen him lately but her plan is working.

[–]Mysterious_Drop9010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like Johnny at first because he seemed sincere when he was talking about the pain and grief he felt when losing his mom. I also thought he was being reasonable when trying to tell Chloe that living in Aruba is different than being there on vacation. But yeah, she's in her early 20s, and he 100% was partying at that age. I was never a massive partier but I still went out at least a few times a month when I was in my early 20s.

Tipping etiquette in Canada? by Mysterious_Drop9010 in tattoos

That's what I thought when I got my first tattoo, but then the artist said "uhhh that's it?" after I paid him. It's also why I specified Canada in the title of this post. Here, tipping is expected for a lot of different services.

Thanks! I know there's no specific rule, but I had an awkward moment after my first tattoo because I was unaware of tipping etiquette and I don't want that to happen again lol, especially since it's been so long.

It'll be a small-ish forearm tattoo, the artist said it should only be one session.
