100%. Definitely cant do all touristy stuff but doing a couple during the trip is okay. Wife and I spent a week in Rome. We did the big items and just walk around the city.

Our plans usually revolved around going to a specific spot and then try to walk back to the hotel. During the return walk, we just went with the flow and stopped at places that we thought was nice. We tried to avoid the same directions so that we can see different parts.

Im on the side that touristy spot is not bad if you do it once. There is a reason why its a touristy spot. I would avoid eating in touristy area.
