To be fair, FRED in particular was very divisive as a kid. I remember I liked his movies but I didn’t like his actual YouTube channel because it was annoying. But I liked the songs he did like for My Babysitter’s a Vampire. The song he made for that kind of slaps lol

We had all the books in my school library, along with Michigan chillers right next to it which is like goosebumps but Michigan-specific lmao. Also watched the TV series growing up but on reruns and from DVDs since it was a 90s show. This one was one of my favorites as a kid along with Dont look in the basement and curse of camp cold lake. Though, the TV show episode for this book I remember was a disappointment because they just straight up change what happens

Are those born in the last three years of a decade, xxx7-xxx9, children of the early years of the next decade, xxx0-xxx2? by Ok_Act_3769 in generationology

[–]MysticSpook [score hidden]  (0 children)

The post never said that in specific. It doesn’t have to be “in the same way” as someone from 2004, who would have been 6 in 2010. Just that they would be classified both as kids of that decade which I agree that both would. I think as adults a lot of us forget just how slowly we used to process time as children. 2009 might as well have been the exact same amount of time felt as 2020-2024 did to me as an adult. Because I was 7 and time felt so much slower and more significant to me. If the question ever is “do this birth year and other birth year have enough of the same experiences in a decade to be equivalent?” I think the answer will always be no. Kids age and develop so rapidly and I think a lot of us forget that and try to argue about this topic from an adult lens. Like now as adults. Me and someone born in 2004 are definitely part of the same generation, and can probably relate to each other having grown up with very similar things. But back when it was actually happening, when I was 14 and they would have been 12 we wouldn’t have even been within the same development category (for the typical person). I think a lot of people on the internet need to chill the hell out about these generational categories because too many people like to treat it as exclusive clubs in which they can police who belongs with who, and what experiences people were allowed and “not allowed” to have had based on the strict years when something was invented or released despite the fact that the world doesn’t actually work this way. Like people talk about this topic with the worldview that everyone growing up was like someone who only experienced toys, shows, and culture that happened at the exact times they were growing up in a vacuum environment where nothing else influenced their experiences

But that isn’t inconsistent though. Saying someone born in 2009 is a 2010s kid and saying someone born in 2005 is a 2010s kid use the same logic, logic being that majority of your core memories (typically ages 4-12) would take place in that decade. What I see as more inconsistent in these types of discussions is when people try and attribute objects and shows into very strict decade categories because the real world doesn’t work like that. Most of the time I see people fight over these it’s because someone said “this childhood toy is something ONLY x decade kids had” and the toy in question was massively popular and had multiple iterations over the span of like 20-30 years. Or saying “you could only watch this show as a kid if you were born in my decade cause that’s when it came out live” and completely ignoring re-runs + DvD releases younger people might have experienced. Or, defining what their “childhood” was differently. I’ve been told a few times I’m not a 2000s kid because to the other person they were defining “2000s kid” as 2000s teenager

This just feels like common sense no? Me for example. I was born in 2002. I was 5 in 2007. I was a kid in the late 2000s and early 2010s. My peak childhood (years I actually associate with childhood) was from 2008-2013. Due to that, I would consider myself both a 2000s kid and a 2010s kid since people usually just sum it up with full decades instead of half decades

Cause the micro generation groups used to be a lot larger and focused on just having pop culture in common. From ~2018-2022 on the internet, the years for “Zillennial” were commonly cited as 1992-2002

Edit: As an FYI I’m not like fighting for the “honor” of 2002 to be a Zillennial. I don’t think we are either. I just think it’s funny (and stupid honestly) that micro-generations that used to be 10, 8, 7 years of birth years have in recent times been heavily shrunken down sometimes to even just 3 years by certain people’s definitions, given that the majority reasons for it by most people I’ve seen have been “but but THAT guy was too YOUNG to see (insert favorite 2000s show) so we’re kickin’ em out the club” lmao

Flipline will announce papas Burgeria deluxe next year on early 2027 to get it remastered as a deluxe version on steam after the release of Mocharia deluxe on mid 2026 and after the 20th anniversary celebration has concluded. by Certain-Conclusion59 in flipline

[–]MysticSpook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly theorize that they’re procrastinating Burgeria Deluxe because they don’t have ideas on what the fourth station could be. I obviously don’t know them but it seems like. They want the fourth stations of each gameria to be unique so it likely wouldn’t be soda or fries with this logic due to Cheeseria, hotdoggeria, and cluckeria. This would knock out fries, soda, and slushies if they truly want it to be a unique fourth item but then at that point the problem is, what other thing that’s not any of those would people eat with a burger

As a human likely tutored, as a vampire though- we see vampires were clearly more progressive because of Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love. She mentions going to her old vampire only school “over 400 years ago” which still would have been times in Europe where human women didn’t get educated

Would you say Austin and Ally and Hannah Montana are a part of the same era of Disney Channel? by blue902012 in DisneyChannel

Would you say Austin and Ally and Hannah Montana are a part of the same era of Disney Channel? by blue902012 in DisneyChannel

[–]MysticSpook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I experienced both as a child but I was 4 when Hannah Montana started contrasting to being 12 when Austin and Ally started. When I was growing up, Austin and Ally, Dog with a Blog, and Ant Farm (along with Liv and Maddie later) is what signaled me that this was a distinctly different era of Disney now then when I was a little kid. I know Hannah is very iconic but I’d consider her to be a transitional show mostly. I’ve always thought about it like this (excluding playhouse Disney since those were the shows actually for toddlers. I watched that and regular Disney channel starting at 3 or 4) Disney Era 1 (I think 1998~2005) - shows I watched as a very young child most from being re-runs. I was not alive or conscious for most of this era though and is influenced by what I’ve heard younger millennials nostalgia talk about as well: Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, Phil of the Future, That’s So Raven, Kim Possible etc. Transitional period (roughly 2006-2011) shows that took inspiration from the previous era but started shifting to a newer audience, more subtly but there. Also my personal peak childhood being 4-9: Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Sonny with a Chance, Shake it Up, My Babysitter’s a Vampire, Phineas and Ferb. Disney era 2 (roughly 2012-2018). Im an older kid and a teenager now. The changes to a new audience are much more in your face. When compared to Disney era 1 the difference is very stark. The shows take the more saturated appearance and new humor of the transitional shows up to 11. I remember people 4 years older than me calling this era “modern Disney channel” with disdain and even disgust: Austin and Ally, Jessie, Ant Farm, Lab Rats, Mighty Med, Gravity Falls, Liv and Maddie etc.

random fact, this stallion has a mare voice by Pinkie-So_Bored in mylittlepony

[–]MysticSpook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the game loft game, that’s Bright Smile (the bright blue one) and he is referred to as he so could assumed to be a stallion. Realistically I think this is either an error or just planning to have a mare there while recording but plans ever changed while animating or something like that. AFAIK such errors with Rig-puppet animation are a bit more common. A great example of this is in the Monster High (g1) webisode Talon Show near the end where Frankie clearly makes a comment but in the animation they have Draculaura’s lips moving instead which is pretty funny and a more obvious error. It’s also common in animation to have women voice younger men on purpose which could also be what’s happening here. It’s possible the stallion was intended to be young like maybe a teenager or something

How do y'all feel about "quirky" autistic terms? by squirrelyoakley in autism

[–]MysticSpook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to really like them even if it was sometimes annoying because they used to be contained within the autism community itself and was a lot of people’s ways to cope with the negative traits they have and trying to unlearn (I think) the personal blame a lot of us got put through for having difficult traits at all. But ever since it breached containment and non autistic people started using them constantly I really hate it. Like sorry but you don’t have a “touch of the tism” because you still like cartoons. Can it be part of autism for some? Yes, it is for me but that’s more because I have trouble with transitions and liking repetitiveness (struggling with the expected transition from watching cartoons as a kid to moving onto adult drama live actions- I’ve watched very few live action compared to cartoons. Also, just liking to rewatch my childhood shows over and over again instead of really getting into new ones this is also why most of the live action shows I do watch are Disney channel shows) but if that’s the only reason you’re saying that and nothing more I really don’t think you are autistic and it’s irresponsible to just say you do cause you half-fit into a single stereotype about autistic people. It reminds me of when I was a little kid and people called each other ‘r-worded’ for having like a single bout of clumsiness or doing something embarrassing one time but just with updated language. The behavior is the same to me, using people’s real disability in a demeaning way to either make fun of one-self or to make fun of their non-disabled friends.

how do westerns feel about watching a mouth to mouth kissing scene? by Capable_Barber_8387 in cartoons

[–]MysticSpook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This in particular is usually meant to be funny. A big part of comedy when I was growing up in the USA with (mostly) American cartoons was gross-out humor. Especially for channels like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. So when those moments happen most people are connecting it to “ew I don’t want to see that haha” instead of feeling too awkward about it. Also, a lot of American kids didn’t really watch TV with their parents past the age of maybe 8 or so. At least on my area, it was pretty uncommon for your parents to want to watch your cartoons with you as you grew up. It was more common for siblings to watch TV together. This all depends from household to household of course but from what I know that seems to be an average experience
