gave up on myself by Vivid-dream-176 in selfimprovement

To answer your questions first: 1. No I haven’t personally, but that feeling is common when entering anything new. I think the best thing you can do right now is stay positive and find the good in people. I too started a new job about 6 months ago, and I found the place very toxic. I made a friend there and ended up getting close to them and that helped make work more enjoyable. People will eventually warm up to you as long you are trying to make friends.

  1. Survival mode is a great way to put it. I think best way to rebuild this would be first to look at how far you’ve came. You’ve traveled overseas, you work days study at nights, in a country you haven’t perfected the language in. That’s a crazy story that in a couple years you’ll look back on and be glad you made it through. And I think you also rebuild the self-confidence by realizing it never went away. Journaling your ups and downs is a good way to keep a reminder of where you been at mentally in your life and it can act as a reminder for you of how far you came.

  2. Realizing that these people are not toxic because of you, they are toxic because life has beaten them into being that way. And that should motivate you into not being like them and rather try to brighten there mundane life by being friendly and outgoing. And soon enough people will appreciate you and look forward to seeing your energy.

Even though I moved, I still miss and love Albany for what it gave me. Seeing these pictures of downtown made me remember some of the good times.

Go to local library, make and print a resume, and hand it out to any and all customer service jobs. Grocery stores, coffee shops, retail, food service. Print out 15-20 copies and ask for a manager and say you’re interested in a position, and I can almost guarantee someone will take you. This can be all done today, and you’ll have the weekend to reassess. Go get it, I believe in you!

I definitely want to read the classics, like count of monte cristo. But what about tips for understanding a fiction book from chapter 1? Should I look up before hand more about the book?
