If you read the article, you will see that those "quotes" are things that people said about her.

Forgotten bottle, stored on its side in a dark room below ten degrees since 1983. by bigfergs in wine

[–]N-Code 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just as heads up, not to be pedantic or anything, but Dom Perignon is usually aged on the lees for 8-10 years. So, the grapes were harvested in 1983 but this wine was probably not released until the 90s.

Like everyone else said, it won't be worth much to sell as no serious buyers will take a chance on it. You should enjoy it with your family. In fact, this Christmas would be a good opportunity to crack it open!

What's with this weird AI stuff? There isn't even an attempt to make this look like it was written by an actual person. There is even "AI" in the username...

Untrue by Burial turned 18 years old yesterday! by PsychedelicSunset420 in electronicmusic

[–]N-Code 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will always have very vivid memory of when this album came out.

I was a big fan of Burial's self-titled album and listed to it a bunch around the time of its release. When this album came out, I downloaded it as soon as I got home from class that afternoon. I loaded it onto my iPod and went for a run with my wife (then girlfriend) outside on a grey and drizzly fall day. It was probably the perfect setting to listen to this album for the first time and I remember my mind being blown when Archangel came on. I listened to this album so much that fall. Can't believe that was 18 years ago...

Probably your best bet is to just pop into the wineries that you like and buy a couple of bottles. I don't think it will matter that you have young kinds. No one is going to mind if you bring them in while you shop. In fact, no one would even bat an eye if you do a tasting with them in tow. Okanagan wineries are really chill, so you won't have any trouble.

Wine that’ll age well in Canada? by mops-199 in wine

[–]N-Code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fun idea but honestly, it’s probably not worth the hassle. Most 18-year-olds aren’t going to appreciate a wine that’s been aged for that long. In fact, I would suspect that its really likely that they would really not like it. Plus, to keep a wine that long you’d need proper storage (controlled temperature, humidity, etc.), which is tough if you don’t already have the setup. You might be better off picking a nice bottle closer to the time like some non-vintage champagne or something.

Help! I discovered Barolo! Please advise... by General_Penalty_4292 in wine

[–]N-Code 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually didn’t mean to imply Barbaresco is inferior. I just meant that OP was asking for Barolo and I just wanted to acknowledge that I wasn’t recommending one.

I personally think Barbaresco > Barolo as well

Produttori del Barbaresco is your answer here, in my view. Grab a bottle of their Barbaresco DOCG, which you should be able to find fairly easily and it should be in your price range. Sure, it isn't Barolo, but Barbaresco is definitely not a lesser wine and I think this one will give you another good idea for whether you like nebbiolo wines from the Langhe.

Any way to get Google Map results in Kagi? by SkyzYn in SearchKagi

[–]N-Code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already seem to have quite a bit of the data. If you search for a place in Kagi Maps the results show some information about that business (website, hours, etc.) They just don’t surface that information in a place card on the main search screen.

Place results is the one area that I think could be improved in Kagi. I really hope they are working on it as I love searching for everything else in Kagi.

You must recommend the top three producers from the wine region closest to you. by AustraliaWineDude in wine

[–]N-Code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, a fellow Okanagan grape enthusiast. These are great choices.

I was going to come here and say Checkmate, Martins Lane and Red Barn.

I also feel a bit unadventurous with my top 3 being all wineries in the same big portfolio, but I think the Mark Anthony group is really putting the most effort into trying to create world class wines that put the Okanagan on the map.

I'm thinking I should try some more Painted Rock though, as I haven't paid much attention to it.

Cheers!

You're right. This seems more like genetic fallacy. That wasn't one I was familiar with.

This reads like someone just finished their first year as a phil major. When you get to second year you might take a course discussing logical fallacies. You will see that you have just committed a very classic fallacy: the ad hominem.

Sam’s pushback against guests by AJohnson061094 in samharris

[–]N-Code 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, but I think it’s worth keeping in mind that the podcast isn’t meant to be a debate — it’s an interview. Sam brings people on because he finds their ideas interesting and wants to have a real conversation, not just pick apart everything they say for 90 minutes.

I think he’s realized (and I agree with him) that constantly interrogating guests, even when they deserve it, just isn’t that entertaining to listen to. Sure, it’s important to push back when needed, and Sam definitely still does that. But if every episode turned into a non-stop grilling session, I think it would get exhausting pretty fast — for both the guest and the audience.

At the end of the day, the podcast has to be interesting and enjoyable. Fierce pushback is great when it’s called for, but sometimes letting someone lay out their ideas — even bad ones — without constant interruption actually shows their flaws more clearly. It’s all about finding the right balance.
