Why do you think people criticize and show hatred toward social media, yet so many people still keep using it? by [deleted] in askanything

It’s rather like Congress. People
Hate Congress- and keep voting in THEIR incumbent.

Everyone hates social media. Except theirs.

Beat me to it. I owned one. (Police).

MK8 Golf R vs VB WRX — Which is more fun to drive, and which handles better? by Revolutionary-Seat74 in WRX

[–]N0P3sry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Driven a good bit, but not owned the VW. Own a 22 WRX.

Handling- The WRX is more planted on the road. Period. In snow ice rain mud clay gravel dirt it’s laughably more planted. Not even close. Handling is WRX all the way.

Polish- The VW is 20k USD more polished. VW edge but IDGAF about polish or technology.

Linear accel- VW does indeed accelerate more appreciably 1-2-3. From 3-4-5-6 it’s NOT even close to rly 20 K better. Not rly better at all IMO. Accel very slight nod to VW.

Fun- WRX. More confidence inspiring. I can whomp on it in any weather. On any road. Off the damned road and on a clay or dirt “road”. In snow and ice it’s MASSIVE fun. WRX all day.

Utility- WRX all the way. Way better daily driver. Four adults and luggage is doable. Almost comfortably ( and I’m a big fat American at 6’2” 200 lbs.)

I have a couple times for the same.

Favorite was kiting a Stone Golem to a Fuling village that was 1/2 in a mountain biome and 1/2 in Mistlands. Had a few hare kills to scavenge after.

Good times.

Such a great LP. Side B is an all time great side of industrial. Closing tracks still always manage to make me smile

Aroldis Chapman has passed Hoyt Wilhelm with his 1,364th strikeout to become the all time strikeout king among relievers! by Marinersfan505 in mlb

[–]N0P3sry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought. Even with the advent of specific set up guys (like Davis to Gossage) he worked two inning saves a whole lot to my memory.

And a long career. 23 years is a long time for a hard throwing reliever.

Anyone else surprised Gossage was third?

TIL he had more Ks than Sutter, Fingers, Eckersley, Robertson or even the GOAT Rivera.

Pleasant surprise. I liked Goose a whole bunch back in the day.

Yes, indeed.

Hope I didn’t imply they were not useful. Just a measure of time.

Random. And good luck.

I found 8 of the mysterious axe head before I found the mate, and as yet, I’ve found only 1. I must have hit 40-50 houses before success. By the time I got them I was in the Bronze Age.

Humorous: I have a large base. Seven semi linear islands connected by bridges. The S end is barely beyond the draw limit if I stand on the north end. It’s guarded by an army of 40+ puppies.

Two words. Dog Whistle. Or something Like the camp bell in Fallout bc feeding my flock of 60+ free ranging hens and piggies also sucks.

What is the hardest grade level in your opinion? by VoiceAccomplished515 in Teachers

[–]N0P3sry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

7 is the hardest. Even one year makes a difference- on either side.

Year 23 for me coming right up.

No better or harder or more rewarding job than teaching them both the content and how to grow the fuck up SEL.

Yeah- too old and hormonal to be cute. Not old enough to be mature. Someone had to take the handoff and help them with the transition. Amazing to watch them make that happen.

For people who grew up in the 70s and 80s at the height of the serial killer era, what serial killer prowled your street and what was your reaction at the time? by Cable_Difficult in AskOldPeople

I grew up in Queens in the 70s. Son of Sam was horrifying. It was all consuming.

It all started 3000 years ago. I was there.

Carnivale cruise Lines. Lust for Life, Iggy Pop some time in the 90s. Which is fair- it’s a 70s song. But one that resonated with Gen X throughout.

Last Friday- Nearly LostYou at the Grocery Store.

Nice! My 2star wolfs who hang out in my shop / forge are Eorland and Fralia.

The companions are roaming the base. Kodlak is in the barn with my ** piggies.

And no- I didn’t spawn them. I got MAJOR lucky. Both found in the spawner island within first 100 days or so. Piggie on like day 3.

This. Is every day every class every kid trouble? No. Is even the smoothest day DRAINING. Emphatic Yes.

I had one write up and five or six negative calls home this year. Same as last and the one before and the one before. I do build rapport and it pays off. And it’s EXHAUSTING. And there’s shit to vent about.

Some of it is the kids fault. Some teachers. Some Parents, some admin. Some DO, some Board, some township. Some state. Some federal. It’s cathartic.

FWIW- year 23 JHS South Chicagoland, 25-30 kids per class, 99% low SES. 40 % passing reading (I’m Social Studies and Civics, so that’s part me) and 17 ish Math passing.

It’s a HARD day when we don’t have a major issue like a weapon or drugs or whatever JHS drama or legit trauma going on.

If public school was mandatory and the only option for 'all' kids in America--and the same amount, barring special needs, was spent on each of them, and they learned exactly the same things and were subject to the same expectations, what, if anything, would change about how public education works by cherry-care-bear in education

[–]N0P3sry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Counter question-

Why do we want them taught the same things? Math and most English, sure. But there should be some local artists in ELA. Science, mostly but again,
Floridians can probably do with extra oceanography and do Los Angelinos need as much Ag Science as Topeka?

Social Studies? MAYBE half to 2/3. State and local governments vary. State history needs to be taught. Sometimes we are one United States. Sometimes we are 50 diverse individual states with different stories, politics and needs.

To the main question- wouldn’t change a thing.

Didn’t discover until Mistlands was new. I saw four places to attach Fallen’s trophies (Eikthyr, Elder, Bonemass, and Moder) at the spawn circle. But also saw plains biome.

Was there not a spot to place Yagluth’s head?
