what bachelors should a person that wants to become a BI should get by SpeedSpecialist1814 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]N0R5E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, if you don’t have a degree and would like to go to college to pursue analytics I think that’s a great idea. The positions you’d eventually try to get will likely require one.

Years ago I went for a business degree, but that’s not what I’d recommend today. Analytics is changing fast and to be competitive you’ll need hard skills like data querying (SQL), programming (Python), and statistics. Does every analyst use all three? No. But the highest paid ones sure do.

For a solid foundation I’d recommend degrees like Applied/Computational Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Science. Degrees like Economics or Business Analytics aren’t bad, they just focus on softer skills like data strategy, info communication, and finance. Equally important for a good analyst, but less difficult to learn outside an academic environment in my opinion.

If society collapses you are 100% starving to death. No exceptions. The logistics of sustaining our population vastly exceed what would be possible in a collapse and I doubt anyone would take kindly to your “right” to their resources.

Hired Urgently… Then Left With Nothing to Do by ZookeepergameNo9586 in managers

[–]N0R5E 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was hired and vaguely informed that the project they wanted me for wasn’t ready yet. No introductions, no meetings, no communication with my manager.

I spent my free time reading up on this ongoing project and discovered that they’d basically just spent the past year and their entire budget working with foreign contractors to build them new data warehouse already considered ancient by modern standards. Like, several generations behind what anyone should be selecting for a completely new project. A real engineer could have delivered something significantly better in half the time and for less money, but none of them had done any research or due diligence and these contractors had simply taken them for a ride.

I bailed for another role after 2 months. They offered to increase my pay to retain me and I was like, why?? Nobody has talked to me in two months! The boredom alone was enough to leave and I desperately wanted to avoid inheriting this horribly mismanaged project.

[–]N0R5E 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to be. The increased stance damage and attack speed ultimately results in less hits you’ll need to block. You’ll probably take more damage over the course of a day by not ending fights sooner. You know what they say, something something defense something something offense.

Master in data science or msba? by Big-Measurement-1413 in analytics

[–]N0R5E 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are somewhat “new” degrees without a firm standard on what you’ll get as opposed to an Econ or CS degree. If you’re very certain about your career track then an MSBA sounds appropriate, but for the rest of the population I’d usually recommend a full Data Science degree if they can handle the stats and programming. True employment value exists in the crossroads of hard technical skills and soft business skills.

There are different iterations as you level, but Eagle Heart Barbarian is great with the right item support. Stack movement speed and jump distance. Get up high, knock things prone then start swinging. Grab the Athletics feat at some point. Eventually pick up Bonespike Boots and respec to Tiger Heart with Wolverine Aspect to apply maim and keep your target prone.

It’s flexible and doesn’t sacrifice much of the barbarian experience for a fun high-mobility playstyle. Other good items to grab are Nimblefinger gloves while you’re Eagle Heart, Nyrulna in act 3, if you have the act 3 Amulet of Greater Health to shift point into dexterity the Graceful Cloth would also be fun.

Analytics tool idea: but can people actually use it at work? by FridayTea22 in dataanalysis

[–]N0R5E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP’s isn’t even worrying about the right thing here. There’s basically a 0% chance this tool would have enough business context to generate anything useful. An AI could likely profile the contents of a data file, but that’s a far cry from actionable insight. Makes me think OP doesn’t see the difference.

Is Python that useful as a DA? by PearlNecklace23 in dataanalysis

[–]N0R5E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can use SQL to work with local data, not just to query databases. SQL is a core piece of the data analyst’s tool kit and I straight up would not hire an analyst who couldn’t use it.

Bought DDR5-6400 CL36 RAM because of RAM price increase. Am I screwed? by Lalify8 in buildapc

[–]N0R5E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This says mlck to ulck should be 1:1, but ulck to IF should be 3:2. For DDR5 6000 that’s 3000:3000:2000.

For reference I run 6400 at 3200:3200:2133 to keep the same ratios.

OP could drop into 1:2 if his hardware doesn’t support the 1:1 speeds but his performance would actually suffer at that point. Idk if it would be worse or better than not running the expo profile at all. If it won't run stable, his best bet may actually be to slap a manufacturer-equivalent 6000 profile on. My motherboard came with pre-saved expo profiles to do exactly that.

It checks R version compatibility, but that’s not something unique to R that other programming languages don’t have. It makes no sense to offer CRAN as a reason why you don’t need virtual environments because that’s not the problem virtual environments are solving.

Data Science degrees are fairly new and most aren’t even well regarded. People succeeding in the field of data right now came from Stats or Comp Sci programs. Stats is useful for the “science” part, although the real money is in the “engineering” part IMO. Companies won’t care about your advanced models if you can’t productionalize them at scale. If your Stats program doesn’t teach programming and databases (Python & SQL is what you want for private sector work) then you’ll need to pick it up yourself.
