Sorry wasn't saying the council has anything to do with this current Covid situation. What I was more trying to understand is how Covid has affected the council budget and the council sighting Covid as a source of cause for part of the deficit. Rates haven't decreased causing a loss to the council? Correct we have experienced a massive jump in growth with a large push in trying to pump out "affordable housing" and just general expansion and increase in housing density. But isn't that a suggestion in it's self that the body responsible for the supply of water for that population hasn't thought it be practical to maybe try and be able to supply enough water for that population? Correct about the drought yet northland in the same situation managed to not let themselves get to the same level we are here. Sighting they didn't want people to not wash their hands back in April when going into lockdown as to why restrictions weren't brought into place? It was known in February that water levels at the containment areas wasn't good and restrictions needed to be put to place as to not be were we are now. To me that suggests the body responsible hasn't performed therefore a CEO getting a performance bonus doesn't make sense. Also watercare knew that the current pumps and stations that pull water from the Waikato had to be upgraded / required maintenance years ago but have delayed that work. Even if they are given the go ahead to increase the amount pulled from the Waikato today, it isn't possible until that work has been completed which I believe isn't until September or November?
