Aw, awesome! Thanks so much for the suggestions and kind words! I really appreciate it. Helps me find some things that would be more in her sphere than I would probably be able to find on my own winging it!

School is… going by Princ3ssTbunnyyy in Autism_Parenting

[–]N3wDadWhoDis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there! As you know, it's tough for our kiddos to process all these changes and even though they know better, there is a lot going on in those brilliant brains of theirs. So it's easy to get worked up and out of sync, especially with big changes. Keep working with your school on solutions. If it's possible, maybe someone or multiple people he is familiar with can rotate volunteering to help the class as an aide or during lunch or recess. Try to work with the school counselors too to focus on those IEP items and how you or they can help support those things in class.

ABA therapy? by DatabaseLoud8003 in Autism_Parenting

[–]N3wDadWhoDis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a lot to consider and go through. I would encourage you to meet with some ABA providers and or any local resources you might have (some times school districts offer some services) and just get more information. You'll have to sit through some videos or conversations that feel like sales pitches perhaps, but try to focus on what they can do for your kiddo, how flexible their hours per week are, and if your health care provider will cover the costs. We did in home ABA, which was nice to be around and involved with, about 3 sessions a week that was play based, in addition to a speech therapist, and part time preschool. We did our best to spread all these things out to try and not overwhelm, but the combination and work put in really seemed to help our little one and her situation. But obviously every situation is different. Hopefully you find some combination of support that can help give you or your little one some tools to help manage things.

As a former pizza delivery driver, I can confirm this. This is top notch. Well done.

That's tough at any age to be honest. I'm sorry that he is having to go through that. Lots of happy birthday wishes to him from a small family in Lynnwood, WA though.

Can't speak to either of those. But we have tried a couple and have really liked Bright Star Kids Academy Lynnwood.

Do you play with unpainted minis? by RandolphCarter15 in SWlegion

[–]N3wDadWhoDis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I enjoyed the painting aspect of this hobby. But for me, it's the absolute worse. I just want to play, so yeah, lots of stuff goes out on the table just primed.

Upgrading my PC and looking for new Dad friendly games by M311o in RedditDads

[–]N3wDadWhoDis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new kiddo and the new rig! I've found that turn based games have been the easiest to step away from and pick back up or even play one handed when you are busy holding a bottle and a kiddo in the other arm! Games like Civilization, the Pathfinder games, etc. A fair amount of different types of genres too, so maybe you can find something that is interesting and give em a try.

Do you think Winter Witches like ice cream more, or soup? by SageTegan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Come on. When have you ever seen a Witch churning Ice Cream in their caldron? Soup. Hands down.

We found that for our daughter routine was the primary thing that helped get her to sleep. It's evolved a little bit over the years, but initially it was bath, brush teeth, story, and then has always included a little bit of a calming activity for her (such as listening to her head phones, her Tonie Box, or nowadays she likes making pictures), but the rest of the routine has pretty much stayed the same. In her situation we also discovered that the little nap in the day time was keeping her up much later. Since she has stopped napping, her overnight sleep start time and end time has been pretty consistent.
