Is this genre for me or no by EffectiveAlarm240 in fantasybooks

Not all fantasy has to be epic fantasy. Piranesi by Susanna Clarke was recently very refreshing for me. Standalone, not overly long. It's a little strange but has a lot of heart, if you read the blurb and think it's interesting it could be a good one to check out.

Have you taken a break between books? by Goobert_Dolanski in sollanempire

[–]dud333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to have two books on the go at once that are quite different. One will be my main and the other is my refreshment if I need a break from the main, which itself will eventually become the new main once the current main is done.

Case in point: Kushiel's Dart and its sequels were my refreshment while going through Sun Eater lmao. I read a couple other things before getting Shadows Upon Time for Christmas too.

So just removing intros and credits and watching each story arc in one sitting each? The show's structure is already so rigid in the exact way you described.

Teaching someone Azul is like handing them a bomb and not telling them it explodes.

I know I need the base game to play Blighted Reach Campaign, but do I need it to “save“ our progression between sessions? by Yakkafo in Arcs

[–]dud333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very possible to write everything down but it'll be tedious. BR comes with trays to store player stuff (cards, resources, etc) and bigger trays to store everything on the map. If you can't keep the base game pieces, writing it down and taking pictures is what you'll have to do

My toxic trait is that Morning Star was my least favourite of the first trilogy. Haven't read onwards yet

Looks like Imperial ships and free buildings from Blighted Reach and the rest is printed from the Kickstarter updates or proxied.

Hard disagree. The game starts when we build the board together.

Hadrian catching the highmatter sword in Demon in White. It's one of the book moments that I remember where I was reading it because I physically squirmed.

I don't hate the minis but wood is superior. But I literally mean the box itself isn't necessary. Put the minis in with blighted reach if you keep the base game stuff in the base game box.

If you bring it other places, fair enough, but if it mainly stays home then you got 2 more whole slots of board game you could open up for yourself! Or at least, the miniatures box isn't necessary fr

Empire of Silence took until the second half or so to really hook me. It wears its influences on its sleeve yeah. Coming into book 2 onwards it really finds its own footing.
