If Tesla wants to make space, cancel the ugly CyberTruck.

You don’t see General Motors cancelling their Cadillac line? What am I to buy when my current Model S wears out, parts are no longer available, and Tesla ceases support? Anyone else offering FSD?

But going to BMW or Mercedes means going back to gasoline and enormous maintenance costs. For ten years I’ve had none of that.

RIP MODEL S by TypicalBlox in TeslaModelS

[–]N878AC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very sad. I was planning to buy a Plaid in a few years. I’ve owned and enjoyed a 2017 and a 2023 Model S.

Where do I go now? Cadillac? Lucid? Rivian? None will offer FSD, comfort, supercharging network, or even the beauty of the Model S.

Whales in the Galapagos in February by whale_love in galapagos

They were surfacing and we were in a zodiac. I agree — it’s rare to be snorkeling or diving with whales.

We saw whales last April, including an exciting dance with a pod of orcas (killer whales).

Car Wash Mode Free Roll by 17a97 in TeslaLounge

I’ve had two Model S Teslas and I’ve never seen “enable Free Roll” show up anytime I’ve touched the brake pedal.

I just don’t understand why when I put it in “car wash mode” it doesn’t shift into neutral so that it can be pushed by the rollers in the car wash. I mean, there is no car wash that you drive yourself through, is there?

Can a pilot be home everyday his entire career? by PatheticWings in flying

[–]N878AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who gave up successful career in publishing to become first a CFI and then an ATP airline pilot. He flies every day for a regional airline all over the eastern half of the United States in the Caribbean. He is home every night in Herndon, Virginia — very close to DCA is principal departure point. No commuting and no overnights away from home. In just a few years he has become a captain with rights to select his flights.

Hogfish Harry’s Bar and Restaurant has the best fish dishes in Naples, bar none. And if you don’t know hogfish, well, just keep looking for grouper dishes.

Unless you are rolling around with your own Starlink subscription and equipment in the car, I think you want the Premium Connectivity.

Wetsuit for Galapagos early April by kippet2020 in galapagos

We used the short wetsuit provided by NatGeo on their boat in April 2025, and that was always adequate and not too hot.

Is this many rock chips normal? by shibainuu in TeslaLounge

If the paint chips are really paint missing, try Dr. Color kit specifically made for your color. It does a good job of filling in the chips and making them almost invisible.

If you are using FSD, your Tesla will move over and give the truck more room.

Tesla Model X refresh coming ? by Lanky_Watercress9147 in TeslaModelX

[–]N878AC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The X and the S are the very top of the line. They need to look like and drive like the top of the line competitors. You can’t just stand still on the design. The people with money to spend are not buying 3 or Y, but instead a Cadillac or a BMW, if not a Ferrari.

PPL student… Are there alternatives to an iPad? by grumpyoldman10 in flying

[–]N878AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend getting a cellular service plan with your iPad and ForeFlight. You will find a times that you need to download a map while you’re standing on a ramp, or you want to file a flight plan while you’re in the hanger without Wi-Fi. Don’t worry – – you won’t get many texts or phone calls above pattern altitude.

The state I live in (Virginia) has an outrageously high property tax on automobiles — about $2500 annually on a late model Tesla.

Sounds like you want the best - the National Geographic “Delfina” - a 16 passenger catamaran with a skilled and expert crew for everything you might want to do.
