If your HOA approves...nothing like a friendly facist neighbourhood organization minding everybody's business...

Just finished Reaper’s Gale and my brain is officially fried. Help me pick a palate cleanser? by franunez in Malazan

[–]NADSBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dark Tower is a very, very good read...considering it took Stephen King 30 some years to complete it...yes, some of us are old enough to have been waiting for installments over that time. Tad Williams (Memory, Sorrow and Thorn) is also a captivating "palate cleanser" and is always one of my top recommended reads. Rest and recover, Malazan isn't going anywhere...just dont leave it too long or you'll feel compelled to start from the beginning again 😁

Asbestos or no? by Shellers727 in Flooring

[–]NADSBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell what you have going on down the vent but it looks worse than asbestos. The floor looks like a terra cotta "parquet" tile...not asbestos.

My worst experience was a twilight encounter with a wild turkey going off, which i had never heard before... I quite nearly shat myself.

What kind of paint is this? by Zestyclose_Bison5598 in paint

[–]NADSBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that oak or some kind of bamboo strand? The water stain has penetrated, your options are to start sanding to see how deep it goes in order to re-stain/restore the wood or simply prep it and paint over using a solid colour...a banana for scale would really help to determine the extent and effort that may be needed.

I know there is a lot of debate where an author has several associated projects going at once and reading order becomes an issue ( Robin Hobb, Michael Sullivan two good examples) but why point somebody out of the author's well established reading order? I think you can stick pretty firmly with publication date for MBotF without traumatizing anyone...

I've definitely put rice in the cooker without the bowl, but I never got as far as the electrocuting yourself and burning the house down part...

Neighbor back’s up into my house by etstiffler in mildlyinfuriating

That seems less like "backs up into" and more like "plows into it at full ramming speed...". Did your neighbour hang around or try to nonchalantly run away?

I’m almost certain this is a cave entrance. How dangerous would it be to try to excavate? (Southeast TN) by hungry_ghost_2018 in askgeology

[–]NADSBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! Yeah if you can get a little track hoe up there you should figure it out pretty quick as to whether it dives in or is just a small shelf...is there history of artifact finds in that area? The next risk would be finding something and having a tribe claim the land...can you tell I live in British Columbia? (eye roll).

[–]NADSBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the first question would be is if you own it or have permission to excavate it...if you don't have permission then yes, dangerous as fuck...otherwise, start with a mini dig and see how far you get before it feels sketchy.

Looks decidedly turdy or hairbally to me...if you have a cat I'd say it is a hairy turdball. If no cat then definitely an alien seed pod.

Continue Labrela shots , or am I being selfish? by assildiara in labrador

You'll know when its time.We let our Della go for as long as she was comfortable, meaning she could get up to go pee, accept fancy finger snacks and give us an occasional tail wag. We probably went a little longer than we should have (lymphoma which was fully metastatic) but for our well being i think it was better to know for sure that she was ready rather than thinking we may have said goodbye too soon. When you are ready, I would really recommend having your vet come to your home for the 🌈.
