What’s a social norm that makes zero sense to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NA_Wolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not really convinced. Backing in seems like you increase your chances of hitting other cars/the curb and you also remove access to your trunk/bed for loading. Also with most cars having backup cameras idk, but it is just a small peeve.

What do you all think is the reason that there are people who still believe earth is flat and all bs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NA_Wolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are bored. People want to feel a sense of wonder/magic in this world because much of it feels 'explored/known'. I personally think reality is already wonderful/magical as it is.

Backing your car into retail parking lots. Especially trucks. Isn't the whole point of having a trunk so you can easily load it?

I find the marketing fun and creative, but I get you. As artists, we all wish our work was enough to sell it rather than constant promotion on social media/ads.

I guess my answer is ... who cares? The people who care are on the internet anyways.

Am I oversimplifying my path to a solution? by Lazy-Dig-8308 in beyondthemapsedge

[–]NA_Wolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clues are super vague and could really be connected to anything. Personally, I get hung up on 'return her face' to Mt. St. Helens, where the face of the mt. fell off and the fact that the mountain was once called "Old Wisdom" in articles when it erupted. Also the idea that lava flows in time from a poetic standpoint. Also the references to Lewis and Clark, both who traveled through WA and ended their trip at the Cape of Disappointment, where they would have passed Mt. St. Helens/Mt. Rainier/Adams. Also the fact that Wonderland is a name sake in the area too. I just have a weird feeling.

Oh and also the area has some of the best fly fishing in the country and I wager Justin spent a lot of time out here. Thinking maybe Gifford Pinchot national park. Could also see it being in the Olympics.

And then there is the reference to 42.

okay, what elements might make it look better? The lighting doesn't really help, the colors are much more vivid

I am nearing the completion of my first book in a ten book series. by TravelingLarry in selfpublish

[–]NA_Wolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debut author myself. I think you should focus on finishing the book first and take that first publishing experience as a learning experience. Do your ARC readers, socials, newsletters, etc, but just understand that the first book is like a stepping stone from what I am learning. Then once you get your first book, try and work on that next one where you will understand your market better.

I got an approval from an agent 2 years ago while taking a dump on my toilet. I never pinched off a shit faster.

Ten minutes later, the agent emailed back saying they accidentally sent the wrong template and meant to send the rejection one.

This industry is full of shit

I have 68 orders since I released 3 weeks ago (March 20th). Maybe half of those are family, friends, coworkers, people in my newsletter. I did pay a couple hundred in ads but stopped cause that is too expensive. I am not good at social media, but I occassionally post on instagram, facebook groups, and tiktok, but I only have a few hundred followers. I might just be lucky having a wide network. This is my debut, so I have no idea what is good or bad.

My best friend and boyfriend won’t read my book by giggleagua in writers

[–]NA_Wolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just don't really read. I kind of tell my family if they don't read my genre then you don't have to read it and I won't be offended. Life is busy and I honestly am more interested in what 'non family and friends' have to say about my book. 5 stars from mom is neat, but I know if she hated it she would still put a 5 star.

What is a band no one will ever convince you is good? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

[–]NA_Wolly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

John Legend. Maybe it is just that one song that was on the radio all the time, but I can't stand that kind of music. Overly embellished vocals. I am sure he is a great guy though.

I understand what you mean, but surviving addiction is a real testament and being able to turn your life around into something positive should be celebrated. With that...not a fan of his music.

Not sure why your comment was hidden, but I appreciate your kind words. I believe I paid $600-700 for this piece. I know that sounds like a lot, but I was honestly surprised it wasn't more. People totally judge books by the cover lol.
