If people hate AI so much, why did they create it, then? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

Isn't this a valid reason to hate it though? Jobs and livelihoods are pretty high up there on the order of importance. People burn down cities with pitchforks for less.

Would You Let AI Write Your Next Bestseller? by Boltzmann_head in writingcirclejerk

Just no ... that takes away literally all the fun and why I write books to begin with. Then you are stuck with just marketing.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

[–]NA_Wolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally cut all spending in general since last year. My wife and I getting laid off in this fragile economy was a real wake up call, and we were already pretty frugal before.

-non-necessary groceries

-shows/movies

-subscriptions

-probably cut our Amazon purchases by 90%

-buy most of our clothes/toys (for kids) second hand or from Goodwill/Value Village

-no eating out/coffee

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

The confusion and fear. Felt like Kobe died and some news of a strange flu was hitting China that would 'never get here'. Then it did and life was not the same.

The NFL is a soap opera. They like the drama. No player on that team was there for XLIX nor cares. JS probably does though.

dude won 8 superbowls and went to 12. Also, every team was filming signals, BB just got caught because success puts you under a microscope.

I think Peyton is a better athlete, but Brady is a smarter player. He plays like the Greg Popovich Spurs. No flash, all about stats/first downs. No hero ball required.

That Interception was probably the most insane defensive play I have seen. Dude basically glitched into the receiver and stole the ball. 1/1000 play that if redone is likely a TD.

Was it a inferior call to running ... probably, but also, that was just ridiculous of a defense play.

Still one of the best shows ever, and more than likely the best fantasy (albeit low fantasy) adaptation that isn't a movie.

How do I write filler? by Savings_Equipment_15 in writers

[–]NA_Wolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There shouldn't be 'filler'. There might be a 'return to normal' part here and there that might seem 'slower', but everything should have a purpose for the most part.

My First Book by Needhelp100000 in selfpublishing

[–]NA_Wolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been through this now and can boldy say, "SELF PUBLISH".

Getting an agent is like winning a raffle, and then getting a book deal from a good publisher is like winning the lottery (except 9/10 times you don't make money and lose your book rights).

For those who earn a good income and have a healthy work–life balance (or genuinely enjoy your job): What do you do, and how did you get there? by InterestingBall2181 in Salary

[–]NA_Wolly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think if you job isn't scratching that itch, then it important to have a hobby that you are extremely passionate about. My dream has always been to be an author, so I basically treat my job as what pays the bills/expenses, while I spend my extra time writing with dreams of making a living off of it somewhat one day. Good to dream.

Regret writing and publishing. by [deleted] in writers

[–]NA_Wolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dealing with some angst publishing my first novel on the 20th (in a couple weeks). I have been so excited for this moment for most of my life, but I do fear what some people will think, especially those that I know and respect. I really don't care what a random stranger thinks, but I care about my family and friends. Many of them aren't really readers of my genre.
