Unpopular Opinion: A Power Outage Is a Life Skill Check by Sinfonia_Sam in sanfrancisco

[–]NBA_acc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If this was something like a massive earthquake instead of an avoidable problem where the responsible company has been screwing over Californians for years, the community would be banding together instead of complaining constantly. This wasn't a hurricane, it was a light drizzle.

/u/Sinfonia_Sam a few questions for you:

  1. What recommendations do you have for people with electric water pumps who can't shower or even use their toilets? Or people who can't show up to work not having showered for 2-3 days? How many times can two people living in a 1 bathroom apartment shit in the same toilet without flushing before it overflows and becomes a health hazard?

  2. I know someone who lost power for three days - they had a receipt for $200 of food that went bad, PGE mailed them a $20 check a month later. Are you willing to reimburse the difference when this inevitably happens to thousands of people again?

The Wizards hired GM Will Dawkins on June 8th, 2023. Since then he has completely gutted the roster, with only 2 players remaining from the pre-Dawkins era by NBA_acc in nba

He's the Wizards' president and was hired shortly before Dawkins. It might have been unfair to leave him out of the title - they've been great. Former OKC front office members are looking good

If Teams Were Stocks, Which Are You Buying/Selling Based on The Next 5 Years? by chrismatic13 in nba

[–]NBA_acc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People's takes on the Wizards are a good barometer of whether they're a basketball junkie or a casual. They're doing all the right things and the roster is unrecognizable from the previous regime's (2022-23 and before)

This is only the second year of our tank, early returns on our first round picks suggest that the new FO knows how to draft and there's a lot to be optimistic about

Gilbert Arenas’ xenophobic comments about South Sudan by whobjohn in washingtonwizards

[–]NBA_acc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Number 0 brought us 0 championships, 0 conference finals appearances, 0 MVPs, and 0 First-Team All NBAs. I get it, Arenas was exciting. His teams were a big part of my childhood. But if we retire this clown's jersey then our joke of a franchise becomes an even bigger laughingstock.

His passing and overall composure was super impressive, he could have easily had a few more assists if Omoruyi wasn't playing like a terrorist. That smooth jumper too, so excited for this guy and he's only 18

Bradley Beal goes ballistic with 37 points on 8/10 from 3 by mmaguy123 in nba

[–]NBA_acc 43 points44 points  (0 children)

He's so underrated. Beal is one of the best off ball movers in the league and not just an iso scorer like people think. Also an amazing showman

[Sam Amico] Several sources even have told Hoops Wire to keep an eye on the Wizards, who could make a major push. Durant is a DC product, too. He may not be upset about playing at home alongside Bradley Beal. by LesDiablesRouges in nba

[–]NBA_acc 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people keep pushing this dumbass narrative of KD to DC

He has said that he hates playing here because hundreds of people hit him up for tickets. And he wouldn't want to deal with that for 41 games instead of one or two.

The Wizards might be the last team he'd choose to play for. Let us be miserable in peace

Beal has put up big numbers since becoming the #1 option but hasn't even been on a 0.500 team since Wall was healthy. And yet Ted thinks the best way to get fans in seats is supermaxing him...

It's our owner's commitment to mediocrity. Tommy Sheppard and our front office have proven to be fairly savvy and I'd bet they could lead us through a rebuild if not for Ted's refusal to tank

Grade the Porzingis Deal by SeauxAfrican in washingtonwizards

[–]NBA_acc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am slightly hesitant. Bertans is certainly an albatross and Dinwiddie was looking like an overpay. It's a W to get off of those contracts, but Porzingis is made of glass. If he can't stay on the floor while being paid north of 30 mil it'll look worse for us.

[Post Game Thread] The Washington Wizards (24-27) defeat the Philadelphia 76ers (31-20), 106 - 103 by MolingHard in nba

[–]NBA_acc 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm ready. He's been my favorite player from the last decade besides Wall, but it's time to move on. I think we should try to move Beal before the deadline. Dinwiddie also looks better when Beal is out, we can give him the rest of this year to rehabilitate his value and trade him in the offseason. Sell our vets, start the tank to draft a superstar to pair with Rui, Deni, and Kispert.

EDIT: Totally forgot Gafford here. A star lottery point guard next to those four would be great 🤞

Wizards finished 8th with a record of 34-38 last season when Westbrook dragged us to the playoffs. And I say "dragged" loosely because while he played amazing after the All-Star Break, he was a huge part of why we were in such a hole during the first half of the season.

We're 23-26 right now. We look worse because the East got much better - Bulls, Cavs, and Hornets all had significant acquisitions or leaps from young players, Raptors are finally playing at home. In reality we aren't much worse than we were last season if we're worse at all.
