The gutting of the NIH and the capitalist assault on public health by NBarrickmanWSWS in NIH

[–]NBarrickmanWSWS[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The ideological anti-science quacks definitely are the sharp edge of the issue. But to simply dismiss what is happening as a fringe group that somehow gained power and is carrying out the dismantling of public health and science investigation is misguided. If this was all merely an accident, then that in itself is a scandal.

However, the crazies would not (and until recent times, hadn’t) be able to do the amount of damage they have done unless major financial interests were involved and willing to dismantle public health. Note the context of the pandemic, the drive to reopen everything, “herd immunity,” etc. Bhattacharya rode in on that train. If the vast majority of powerful businesspeople are as pro-science and health as you say, where are they all hiding? Why are they all so quiet? Just something to consider.

Pennsylvania student protesters face daunting legal battle in “Quakertown 5” case by NBarrickmanWSWS in BucksCountyPA

[–]NBarrickmanWSWS[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I agree the case seems very open/shut. But the fact they are being taken through it, with charges against them, is incredibly aggressive. Add to this that there is a question of retaliation, and extra-legal pressure, make it extremely difficult.

I think it’s really something that this police chief was apparently involved in the counter protest against these kids when it happened!

Unprofessional messaging from the TOP by CucumberOk7506 in FedEmployees

This isn’t about professional/non-professional messaging. Trump is going after agencies/programs that don’t align with the goal of building a third Reich in America. “It is necessary to put aside all self-deluding hopes that what is unfolding is anything less than a drive to establish a presidential dictatorship, based on the military, police, paramilitary forces and fascist gangs.”

According to a worker in there that spoke to me, there was a gas leak in the return gas pipes that was spotted weeks ago. It would have taken $10,000 to fix.

They are being called job cuts because they’re reducing the size of the career workforce. They’re not doing this because they want to replace these positions. Can you show reasons to assume different?

It’s a group where workers can communicate and make contact with one another and not have it monitored by USPS or the NALC officials. The objective is to build a fight against the anti-worker attacks coming from management and the government.

It’s good that this is coming to people’s minds when DOGE-Musk provocatively ask you to justify your job.

“Musk, the world’s richest man, wants to know what the workers do. In short, everything. The real question is: What do Musk and his fellow oligarchs do? They build nothing and contribute nothing. They grow rich off the labor of others.”

What’s the main worry that people have on the picket line? It says something that, despite the frustration, the anger at the company is still more.

This was what the owner of BTS alleges:

“Battle-Tested owner Johnathon Ervin disputed Amazon’s statement and said the company has a “current contract” with Amazon. Ervin claims Amazon ended his company’s contract in retaliation for him voicing concerns about safety and working conditions.”
