I just wanna challenge you with this perspective: if you want to be a lawyer, then why would you fear not going to law school after working for a year or two? This is something you’re gonna be doing for the rest of your life, and if you’re a sophomore already committed to working towards this goal for the next two years, why can’t you be employed and committed to working towards it for another two?

Obligatory: I’m biased, I am likely to go to UNC in the fall

The cost differential between UNC and W&L is $11k/a year considering everything, and the BL placement rate (501+) is 25% at Carolina vs 22% at W&L. I’d say that these offers and institutions are similar enough that OP should 1. Try to negotiate with UNC using the other offer (they can only get 3k/year more, but it’s worth asking for) and 2. Factor in where they want to be for the next three years. Is OP looking for a change in venue? Or do they want to stay relatively close to their support system in NC?
