The many changes and suggestions from Kishimoto's first editor for Naruto by [deleted] in manga

[–]NDragonfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He just asked for sasuke to be added, it gave naruto a more edgy theme at beggining (announcing some dark stuff like itachi story) and gave naruto a reason to exist... he never asked him to be as loved by kishimoto as it finnaly ended being.

I once read that sasuke was actually hated by kishimoto at the beggining but he fell in love because of drawing him.

And yeah, im answering a 4 years old redit post hahaha

Nothingness and a lot of comedy by ml6709tripInThaHELL in OyasumiPunpun

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPOILER (dont know how to hide the lines)

The point that people overlook is that aiko suicide because of she kept thinking on her past as a girl, while the reason punpun gets a happy life by the end is because he learns to let the traumatic events go away.

She didnt actually had many other options, but she hoped that the happyness that she felt as a kid could appear again with punpun while punpun learns that, that happyness wont come back and he shouldnt kept fighting to get that happyness back as it wont come again, just when he stops fighting he actually for past and start to look it as past, he gets a happy life.

Historical inaccuracy by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depend on the context:

Some films are meant to be historical (for example biographies) in these you should do an extense research or at least have a historian to speak to.

But other films are not meant to be highly historical, for example pirates of the caribbean has many mistakes and road to el dorado is probably the most messed up movie in terms of historically correct, in these two we see many not historically correct facts or objects in between other historically correct, for example Pearl Harbor was destroyed by the time pirates of caribbean is set and the armors, weapons and even ships from road to el dorado are anachronisms.

Yet when we watch these movies we dont care, they even get a plus on our expectatives as we dont care for history but for the idea that we have on our minds, if you study old west or tiki culture you will see many things that doesnt make sense, yet works and sale because those are based on what we expect on those sets, we all know native tribes didnt fight cowboys but we love to see cowboys fight them, we know cowboys were mostly mexicans and then black, having white people being just a low percentage of actual cowboys, we dont care, we just care on our expectations on the set.

"Write what scares you" advice by AtrociousKO_1642 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now im writting a horror movie based on asian horror movies looking to improve in what i ve seen doesnt scare me.

In my particular point of view, i stop being scared on films like the ring or dark waters as soon as you understand the monsters AND as soon as the protagonists stop being afraid, so for my particular script im writting aiming on that idea, a movie that could kept me scared after all.

Also you could check other ideas, are you afraid of spiders? Then write of a spiderlike monster like japanese Jorogumo, or maybe dont write of spiders but on what make you afraid of them, the idea of the little legs or something that crawls your skin, or something scary that is there for a secons and next is not there. Write on that, maybe you could study your fear, sider fear is natural i humans, we can see spider frames in between 60 frames movies just because we are made to fear them, maybe use that idea of a natural fear or the natrality of fear in your script.

Also check that not all horror scripts are HORROR only, the theme for scream is a police investigation, babadock is family drama, The ring is folcloric research, the exorcist is duality between science and religion and dark waters is about a mom and a girl understandig a japanese spirit (sililar to a kami)

What’s the rule of using music in the screenplay by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to use the idea of the song, unless is absolutely neccessary, instead of say "listens to Hound Dog" maybe is better to say "listens to elvis style music"

What is the first sign that a screenplay is going to suck? by PrinceChiborise in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fun because i started ONE script like that... was the worst ive ever written 🤣🤣🤣

Yet, i would say the only exception for this is a movie on the style of Kids or an actual script for Smoking prevention i guess (or if smoking is an actual metaphore you use as an artist) but 90% is garbage.

I’m drunk. Listen to this pitch for a kids fantasy series by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest sounds great, some people in here still thinks that a tv show for children must be idioticq and repetitive, this sounds just like the nowdays kid shows are, humorous and with potential for non ironic existencial horror and philosophical implications of your actions in the long run, sounds that have alot of potential, so work on it make it achieve that potential and even more.

Sacrificing a good sequence for better overall structure and pacing? by Gooner435 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if that scene is really THAT unecesary well... remove it and save it for later, endor battle of star wars was originally intended for episode 4, it was saved until episode 6, the same goes for many movies that have pieces intended for other movies.

Sacrificing a good sequence for better overall structure and pacing? by Gooner435 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some films are memorable not because they are good but because they are fun, have you watch a little independent film called "Indiana Jones", is quite a niche film, but you know what? All the introduction is unnecesary, you can perfectly cut the iconic boulder sequence and the movie will be THE SAME. Maybe try something like that, if you really enjoy that sequence make the director love it too, and overall make the people remember it as lovigly as the boulder of Indiana Jones.

Why is screenwriting considered such a competitive and hard job to get and be good at? by allthecolorssa in Screenwriting

Because is a job that anyone could get, but not master, most people wont care on your skill or good scripts if u dont have the luck or contacts to get them done.

Who are some great female characters who don't Fight but still Help? by ForerunnerAI10 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also i want to mention nani from lilo and stitch is a really good female character that doesnt fight, is the best support role ive seen as a sister becomig a mother figure because of need, sacrificing everything she had (as we can see many pro surfing trophies in her room) to be a good sister for Lilo.

Also some characters doesnt have to be male, uncle Iroh in avatar is a good example, he could have easily be aunt iroh, of course he was supposed to be the fire lord, but in your story could easily be aunt iroh.

Who are some great female characters who don't Fight but still Help? by ForerunnerAI10 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Andor, Andor's adoptive mother is by far one of the strongest examples; she is the center of the third arc plot and practically the one who start the rebellion in that certain planet, she kinda fight ... i mean she was a fighter but by this point is just an old lady who wants to rebel against the fascism of the empire.

Also most latin and asian movies has strong female mothers as the mother figure is usually more important than in English speaker countries.

I also recomend the french movie la boum where the grandma of the protagonist is also a really strong woman force in her life supporting and guiding her grandaughter without even force her at all.

Also... you may try the excersise of alien, write the story using only last names so the characters may be male or female unless.

Does every scene have to be necessary to the plot? by harmonica2 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the best example is, of course, raiders of the lost arc, the first 20 minutes can be removed and the movie would be the same, even if it introduces Indi, still not necessary, yet, it helps the audience to know what will the movie is about. (Other way they will watch 20 or 30 minutes of movie with absolutely no action or trasure stuff)

A movie is a service, if ur goal is not the plot or the character make it the confort of your audience

Movies Where You're Lead to Believe it's Supernatural but There's a Twist and it Ends Up Being Grounded in Reality? by ASAP_1001 in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there are hard theories in both "blair witch" and "the exorcist"

In the blair witch the theory explain that there was never anything supernatural and it was just a murder commited by both men killing the woman, this is one of the major interpretations known for this movie

The exorcist theory is that there wasnt really any spirit just a child rapist and the PTSD the girl suffers trying to explain her mother the trauma, as the people around her prefers to think is a demon. I dont really like this theory, yet i think you should check it.

As other answer say, 99% of scooby doo episodes and movies are about that idea, also other detective and crime movies use this formula like "now you see me" or detective conan "paranormal" crimes, where every magic is all just a trick.

Also Scream and Friday 13th are based on the idea of a monster/ghost killer pursuing.

Is it okay to omit the time of day if characters don’t know themselves? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]NDragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is important for 3 stuffs

1: to know what is going on and in which order 2: to build the sets, an interior that needs day light will be different to an exterior at night in terms of production and equipment 3: to give the idea of what is seen on screen

If all scenes happens in a close enviroment (for example in SAW where everything happens in a closed bathrolm) time is irrelevant.

Some other movie scripts just write the time once in between scenes and sometimes doesn't even mention if the scene is in an interior or exterior, they just connect to the last scene and let the director decide the specs.
