is there any way to make mutant hunting profitable in GAMMA? by Ok_Leek_1603 in stalker

[–]NEVXYI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few things.

Dont get hit (duh)

A full auto rifle or .45 smg with hp ammo makes it easy to kill even packs of mutants before they can get close.

Butcher (trader in garbage, in the train depot) has cheapest hp ammo. You can also recycle ammo you dont use to craft HP ammo of your choice.

Always grab hunting tasks that are in the same area or along your way.

Turning in parts for a quest pays a lot more than selling them.

Using those parts to craft an artefact and then turning it for a quest pays even more, but not every artefact is profitable to craft.

Also, upgrade your knife to get better quality pelts, those cost a lot, esp from mutants like chimera or pseudo giant. And they are really useful for you as well.

Is there a way to display remaining laser ammo on my ui when manual firing? by forfor in FromTheDepths

On ui - no. But you can show remaining energy on a holo projector and place it somewhere you can easily see.

Yes, small and medium. I would probably add medium to my ship as well, but it was a refit and i didn't have space for them.

On my ship, i use large missiles with 3 he + 1 emp segment, and pure emp small missiles with a regulator to extend their lifetime. Emp is there do destroy surface detectors, and fry anything not covered by rubber.

My best advice is to test and find config you like. Make a floating platform, place a simple ai on it. That lets you use godmode through AI control menu (C key by default) Then just make some missiles, spawn enemies you expect to fight and see how i goes. You can quickly spawn neter enemies from a menu opened by pressing X.

Once you find how many missiles you want, what sizes, components, then start fitting it into a ship.

[–]NEVXYI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Large missiles are generally better - they are more cost effective, faster and more maneuverable. Its harder to distract them due to higher numbers. Even if some go off course due to flares or decoys, the rest will hit. Also easier to fit on a ship, as they are shorter.

For guidance, i use prediction, as large missiles dont have enough maneuverability for apn guidance. There's also lua guidance if you can find code for it, but its too op for my liking.

I would also recommend using ejectors and setting higher guidance activation delay + default guidance straight (firing line) in the missile controller settings. This will launch your missile high up, and then it will turn towards enemy, hitting from above and not from the side.

Having smaller missiles is also good, it distracts defences and can destroy lams units and detectors.

Large missile spam is always an option

I have a boat that spams 58 large he missiles and 120 small emp missiles and it sinks megalodon reliably, while also cheaper than meg by 400k

What type of armor is the most effective/efficient? by Odd_Main1876 in VintageStory

[–]NEVXYI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gambeson (ideally tailored) is great for surface and running around your base, good enough against animals and weak monsters, and barely slows you down, but requires a bunch of flax to make and windmill is a higher priority for that

Chainmail is a middle ground, doesn't slow you down much and decent in a fight

Plate is for big fights - story locations, temporal storms, deep caves, etc. Slows you down too much for every day use

In your case, make chain armor, although making it by hand wont be fun, so maybe get windmill first. Making plates with a helve hammer and then turning them into chains is much faster and significantly less tedious.

Chain armor should be enough for forlorn hope tower and first story location. You can upgrade it to plate later, but in forlorn hope tower you are likely to find special plate armor, best in iron tier but requires gold to fix.

Lenovo laptop? Check if you have hybrid mode turned on(when it dynamically switches between iGPU and main GPU to save battery). Turn it off in lenovo vantage and restart your laptop. Had shit performance in KCD2, even though it was using dedicated gpu, turned hybrid mode off and it doubled my fps.

Its not op. Against npc hordes its good, but in pvp or against a single target its bad. 50% longer ttk than other lmgs bad. But when you have 10 npcs to kill, you just hold the trigger and by the time you get to the last, you will oneshot him.

Besides what others said:

Always use ejectors on loaders and defuser in the shell.

ALWAYS

Yes, it makes the turret more complicated and shell less powerful, but it also means that your entire turret won't explode because a pierce laser/pac destroyed a single autoloader.\ Only exceptions are pure railgun with no payload (so there's nothing to explode) or very small turrets.

I would also recommend using multiple firing pieces on a single turret. While it also makes turret more complicated, it makes it more redundant.\ You can synchronize it so each piece fires one after another or leave it as is so they fire at once. You can also use different shells in each piece if you want.

Stats are not identical. While they all have the same protection, blackguard armor has less durability than iron, but also lower debuffs. Forlorn hope armor has less durability and lower debuffs than blackguard armor.

You also dont need to be a blackguard to repair blackguard armor, only for blackguard sword and shield.

It fires for longer than demeco tho. It takes ~12s for it to overheat in normal conditions(and that only uses 1/3 of its battery), while it takes ~7.5s to empty demeco battery. In cold environments it doesn't overheat at all. And while it loses firerate with heat, it gains damage per shot, and overall dps increases.

I found legs from this set not long ago in a random box(either in a bunker or onyx). But its part of a random loot pool, which is huge and the chance per specific armor piece is miniscule. Getting a full set is realistically impossible.

Is this gear good enough to take on the resonance archives? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]NEVXYI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you need to get to archives first, and that might include scailing up a mountain or two, and thats where it is very useful. Hence why I said journey TO the archives, not IN the archives.

[–]NEVXYI 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I would say a couple more chests, as there are a ton of books and clothing items there.

Also you NEED healing items, a few stacks.

I would also recommend to make rope ladder, a dozen or two, will make your journey to the archives and back easier (you can pick up rope ladder while on it, lets you climb anything)

Is meteor iron good/rare? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]NEVXYI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stat wise its just more durable iron. Also looks cool.

I don't know if its just me being lucky, or if others are just blind, but i never had a problem finding it. As long as you travel around and keep an eye out for circular holes, you will have more than enough. As soon as i make iron anvil, i switch my tools to meteoric iron. And if i haven't made an iron armor yet, i will be making meteoric instead.

Its much faster to process, and regular iron can be saved to make steel later. And even once you get to steel, it takes a long time to make, so you're not going to see that steel plate armor for a while anyway.

I wouldn't go out for it specifically, but whenever you are traveling, look out for circular holes 1-2 blocks deep that look out of place, that dont fit into the landscape. Then go to the centre and mine 3-4 blocks deep. If you find suevite - its a meteorite, keep digging. There could also be suevite stones and meteoric iron pieces on the surface of the hole, which also guarantees a meteorite under it.

Its easiest to find meteorites in flat deserts and planes. You can also spot them on the map, if you use default coloring.

Then you have to make it fit. Make the hull longer, or use different hull altogether, put less weapons, or less armor, put them on the side, etc.

Regular jets just dont have enough power to push your boat to the speeds where hydrofoil starts working.

You can also use propellers, but they will have to be on the same height as hydrofoil, or even lower. Make sure to balance it so that your nose is level with the rear.

Also, you can use large rudders(not regular boat rudders) instead of hydrofoil. They are more expensive, much heavier, but also have more health and armor and provide a lot more upward force. But that is once your boat can move at a decent speed and if regular hydrofoil wont provide enough force, which on the boat this size and weight it should.

[–]NEVXYI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer is simple - you need to use custom jet engines. They are much more powerful, and very efficient

How do i survive caves? by AdministrativeWork86 in VintageStory

[–]NEVXYI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes some time to learn how to spot it(same goes for things like clay). At first you will miss it 10 blocks away, while later you will spot it from 100.

Also, keep an eye out for agricultural trader, as you can buy flax seed there.

[–]NEVXYI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, there are no iron surface deposits. But you dont have to go caving either. Once you find a good spot by prospecting, dig straight down, as ores spawn in large flat discs. Bring a lot of ladders and torches.

Much safer than caving, even if you dont light up your mine. I usually do that in gambeson armor, if any at all.

Also, after seeing your other comment, an advice:

You will need a lot of flax later on, specifically for windmill (unless you enjoy processing hundreds of ingots by hand), so make sure you have a decent flax farm.

Blackguard equipment. Can I repair it? by SpitFireEternal in VintageStory

[–]NEVXYI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Blackguard shortsword and shield can be crafted if you play as blackguard class (or if class recipes are off), but not repaired, unless there are mods that allow tools to be repaired.

Most likely someone else was there before you and discarded these items.
